Creighton still listed as a 3 seed in Lunardi's Bracketology. Games vs. UC Santa Barbara, then Oklahoma, then possibly San Diego St. in the Sweet 16.

It appears on Ticketmaster that Creighton has sold out the rest of the games this season.

Prior to tonight's game, Doug needs to average 21.6ppg to reach 3,000 points by the end of the season, assuming three games at the Big East tournament. Chances are he will top out at 7th nationally by the end of the Big East conference tourney - that's my prediction anyway. If they make it several rounds into March Madness he might crack the top 5 if he scores well. He will also be on that list as one of the players with the most games played to reach his mark.

Just got home from the game.. A weird night for Creighton shooting wise and it just never felt like they established a rhythmn but played like a top team should play. Brooks was sick tonight and didn't play which seemed to take away some of the inside game but the Jays found a way to score and even though they were dominated on the boards and shot less than 30% from 3 we still won handily! Exciting night and the crowd towards the end seemed to will the team to victory by being loud when it counted! All in all I had a great time tonight and hope that some of you were in the crowd as well! :banger: :banger:

I am sure Lumberjack Night played a part in that.

They did bring in the third set of portables in the Bud Bar too.

Great finish to the game tonight. The team just seemed lethargic for much of the 2nd half but they managed another double-digit victory.

I've watched the game a few times now, and I have to say I was so impressed with Gibbs return. I forget his stats, but 8 assists! He fed Doug on so many perfect passes you could tell they had worked many years together. The two where Doug came off screens to get that perfect pass, and of course the alley oop, you heard the local color saying 'lob' a second before it happened. I almost forgot Brooks wasn't even there, which was huge for lack of rebounds.

Rusty coming off 10 days off, they got killed on the boards, DePaul had his many offensive rebounds,... On the first possession of the second half... They will have their hands and backs full against St John's. It will be a great visit to MSG.

Gibbs had 7 pts, 8 assts and 5 rbs. Great stat line, especially for first game back and only 21 min of playing time.

Maybe it's just me, but Creighton seems to be in that mode where they've earned themselves a decent ranking, then they inevitably drop an easy game. They did everything they could to lose that game last night (minues Doug), and they will need to play much better basketball in New York tomorrow.

Creighton always manages to let February bite them. Last year they had 4 February losses (three consecutive), the year before that three consecutive losses, the year before that 4 losses... Hopefully not this year.

Big game today, if the Jays win, they likely will move up 2 spots to #10 since #7 Cincinnati and #10 Michigan lost this week.

The remaining schedule is pretty unfavorable for the Jays. It wouldn't surprise me to see the typical February fall apart they do.

Absolutely pathetic officiating so far in the Creighton game. They waved off a three by McDermott because of an offensive foul on Artino. The foul occurred after the shot and the 3 pts should have counted.

Yeah I agree. If we could have made a few more free throws (only 5-10) we would be tied. Well that and if they would have counted Doug's 3.

We aren't hitting free throws....very hard to win games like this when you can't hit free throws.

I wouldn't be surprised if they lose 3 of the next 4, It's the way Creighton does February.

As far as officiating, don't be a Matt Davison. Creighton had plenty of opportunities and blew it regardless of officials.

Just never got in rhythm. I think their tough D slowed us down a ton and led to a lot of those missed open shots.

Creighton shot 14/25 (56%) from the free throw line. Before this game they were 9th in the country at 75.9%. Gotta hit shots when it counts. I love Wragge, but it always seems that he goes cold in close games. When the games are blowouts either way, he is great.

Unfortunately, the blueprint to beat this Creighton team is written all over the wall. Try to contain Doug to 25 or so, surgically implant an average-speed, semi-athletic guy onto Wragge, and let your ATHLETES beat Creighton's ball distributors.

An additional luxury St Johns had from 3 weeks ago: To sit back and allow Gibbs and Brooks to self-destruct.

The February shooting slump has begun. (well, really it started 3 games ago).

McDermott finished with 25. Gibbs had a great game minus his poor free throw shooting and 4 turnovers. (12pts, 12 rebs, 6 assts)

He also took some terrible shots. I do not think this was by any means a "great" game for Gibbs.

I am just amazed how why have the best player not only in the conference but also in the country and we don't even get him the ball down the stretch. I know that they were denying him on defense but we have to be able to get him some good looks.
