Jays lost today at Xavier 69-75. McDermott finished with 27pts and 10rbs. Isiah Zierdan went down hard and looked to have hurt his knee. Hopefully nothing serious. It sucks that the Jays lost because their top 10 ranking is probably gone as well. This was not a bad loss though to a team that is 20-9 and throw in the fact that many top 25 teams have lost this week.

The bright spot in today is that even though Xavier shot UNCONSCIOUS from behind the arch Creighton had the opportunity at the end to make a comeback and take the lead. Team just looked flat today and with Wragge out nearly the whole game due to foul trouble it allowed the XU defense to play more like its used to. Either way not a bad loss and shouldn't be the start of a losing streak. 8)

Looks like the guards need to 1) not shoot so much 2) shoot a higher %....Manigat was 1-7 and Chatman 1-9.

X-rays done today showed no fractures or bone chips in Isaiah's right knee, but he did suffer a medial collateral ligament injury at the time of his patellar dislocation during Saturday's game at Xavier. He will undergo an MRI on Monday in Washington, D.C. that will determine if any other possible injuries were suffered and help determine whether or not surgery is needed. He is out indefinitely.

Thats too bad to hear, he was really starting to gel and becoming an important piece to the team. It looked gruesome when he went down. Let's hope he heals quickly and is ready to go next year.

As for the rest of the team, hopefully they come ready to play from the start on Tuesday night @ Georgetown.

Jays are #13 in the new AP poll.

I can't believe that Iowa is still ranked (#24) they lost at Minnesota and Indiana, and only beat Purdue at home by 7. They have the most losses of anyone in the Top 25 (9). And their only great win was beating Michigan. I wish that Creighton would be as lucky in the polls. It seems like when they lose a game, they always drop 4 or more spots. This week is particularly frustrating because they lost on the road by only 6 to a very good Xavier team.

And as expected, according to Lunardi the BEast is down to three bids:

#2 seed Villanova
#3 seed Creighton
#9 seed Xavier

Providence and St. John's are first four out, Georgetown is the next four out, Marquette no longer in the bubble talk.

I've been bi-polar as heckthis year with the Jays. After last week, I'm not too confident in them winning the Big East Tourney. In fact, I think it's up for grabs to just about anyone in the conference.

Zierdan's MRI was rescheduled for today because of the bad weather in DC yesterday.

Creighton may be losing a #3 seed now. They look horrible, like they don't want to play, too many stupid shots and turnovers...

They played better without Grant Gibbs. Is that odd to say?

I kind of thought that too. Although for the time I watched, I saw him make like three 3's. He definitely played better this time than last time.

They just played lights out during that period when he was out.

Don't underestimate the significance of IZ getting injured also.. we lost a lot of team speed and an impressive shooter when he went out.

That's what Creighton lacks. Having shooting skill is all nice and dandy when the shots are falling, but having 4 guys sit on the parameter waiting for the three ball to drop without being able to penetrate for the rebound is killing Creighton. They need speed to break through those defenses, and right now they don't have it.

We'll see what the new recruits bring in. Sad that Doug is gone before those guys arrive.

They do have a guy to do that, Brooks, but he just makes too many bad decisions, and misses too many FTs. The Harlem Shake is a wonder to watch, but a heart ache too often.

The light should have come on by now for him. I don't think it will.

He doesn't get enough PT. But now that IZ is down, if any guards get in Foul Trouble, we will see a lot more of him these next few weeks.

Join the club Creighton fans. Lots of teams, including my Cyclones are majorly limping into post season. Our problems are not far off from yours, shots dont fall, bigs on the other team cause problems, lack of depth and foul trouble... None of it is fun to watch after such a great year otherwise. At least neither of us is Syracuse.

The Jays need to bounce back against Providence @ the CLink. I am sure the crowd will be behind them and it needs to be. Providence handed the Jays their biggest loss of the year (13pts). It would still be a great regular season if CU wins and McDermott gets his 3,000th point.

Yep. Add Syracuse, Iowa, Wisconsin, etc.

I guess that is the best thing about March Madness, it allows teams who self-destruct at the end of regular season play, to pick themselves back up in the tournaments.

Frankly, I could care less how Creighton plays these last couple games, just make a strong showing in the BigEast tournament, and win a couple big games in the NCAA. (although that becomes harder as they lose their seeds now)

That just said a team cannot play a team that they have already met until the sweet 16, so they would have to be in different brackets...
