Yup - all the way south to Pacific. Not all the way north to Leavenworth (not yet anyway) - just to Marcy. A company called VillaLobos operated a business on the east side of the trail for a long time -that property is being cleared in the next couple of months to build a parking lot. The land to the west of the trail with the Kiewit office and the vacant lot where condos were going to be built is also going to be a parking lot. That is a lot of parking lot. I am hopeful that in the future UNMC will encourage and participate in more infill in the Midtown area - so far, I see Leavenworth between 40th and Saddle Creek turning into a giant parking lot.

Not at all optimal, but at least parking lots can be undone and developed easily. The only issue will be that of time; parking lots can last a long time but not forever.

Parking structures above ground cost $13,000 per stall. Parking under ground is $20,000 per stall. It simply is not cost effective in this era for a hospital that is looking at substantial downward pressures on revenue and upward pressure on costs to drop that kind of cash on a building that would cost a ton to tear down when the space is needed for something else.

I was getting my car washed and noticed that the retaining wall on the north side of the Durham Research Tower was being torn up. Anybody know what that's about? It's facing the wrong way to be a part of the new building from anything I've seen...

Thought I had responded to this... I saw that the retaining wall was gone after you mentioned this. I looked at the pics, and I think it is a part of this project. I'm almost tempted to get shots of the north tower from the north just to see.2Adam29 wrote:I was getting my car washed and noticed that the retaining wall on the north side of the Durham Research Tower was being torn up. You'd be surprised what the original photo looked like, until I corrected it in Adobe. I had to get rid of a lot of shadows shooting north in winter, give it light and color...jessep28 wrote:I thought that was a drawing for a second.Coyote wrote:

If you lighten the shadows too much, you almost need to start turning down the saturation, it really makes the colors get bright quick.

Re: University of Nebraska Medical Center
I went back up there and they are still working. They haven't lifted the cross piece yet, but I didn't want to sit around and wait for security. I may go back up in a bit. I know a guard there so I left him a message to see if they care. I know in the past he said they did not as long as you were outside and as long as there are not patients in the photo.guitarguy wrote:Looks like they're about to start haulin some A$$ soon!
Architect told me both cranes will be up with a week.
I fixed that second image too.

The Architect told me they are going to be as tall as allowed without being connected to a building, which Google says is 265 feet.skinzfan23 wrote:How high do you think the cranes are going to be....about the height of the one for the Hyatt Place downtown?
