Severakl times this week I have clicked on a story and it completely locked up Internet Explorer and I had to go to the task manager and kill it. On my personal computer I use Chrome and have no problems.

To pick up on an old topic,,, I recently exceeded my quota of OWH Premium Content on my IPad and the OWH will not let me view any more articles. But my question is why are they putting a limit on viewing their articles anymore, since I have the OWH App on my IPad and on my Windows phone that never runs into this quota problem?

Seems their advertisers wouldn't be too happy the number of views is limited.

I wonder if it resets the view count if you go into Settings > Reset and clear the Content Cache? They probably use your iPad's unique ID though.

On my iPad/iPhone i set safari to always have private browsing. It hasn't been an issue since.

I do the same thing with Chrome when viewing the OWH on my iPhone.

You must not have the right level of subscription. We have 7 day a week delivery because my wife likes a real paper. That still isn't good enough for the OWH because we got some discount for our paper.

I just clear out my browsing history when I run into that 20-article limit per month. But yeah, I would think OW-H's advertisers would be pretty upset about this article limit?

WOWT has posted this image on their Facebook page from a letter that is said to be from the OWH . Has anyone else received it? I do not see in scanning the comments that anyone else claimed getting it

Comments are somwhat varied with most being along the oposed lines or it better be going to the carrier, or why aren't the cost of the ads covering this.

I don't see a problem with the move. People pay a premium for ads every Sunday too.

That's too bad, I loved having a paper route when I was a kid. For a 13/14 year old, it was great money!

I agree, my whole family delivered newspapers until we were teenagers. It was great to get some money but only have to work for less than an hr each day.

You are showing your age. My kids were some of the last. They are in their mid twenties. Honestly, given the way the OWH treated our kids, I can honestly tell you that I would not want anyone's kids to do that.

People willingly pay a premium for ads every week. This is just an out of cycle Sunday newspaper.

People do not pay extra for ads on Sunday. They pay extra for the larger edition of the paper, which includes bigger news sections. Sports is bigger, Midlands News is bigger, as are the Comics, Living, and Money sections. Also you have the Parade magazine and the Home section.

If it costs too much to deliver the ads, they need to increase the charge to the stores.

The simple solution is to put the Thanksgiving paper on hold for a week. Or cancel the paper on Wednesday, and resubscribe on Friday.

I have to say, I was somewhat surprised to see what an acquaintance of mine made as an OPPD employee... $162,000... and a killer pension as well. Years ago, I always heard public employees say that pensions were warranted, because of their sub-standard salaries compared to the private sector. Can we replace these pensions with 401k's once and for all?

The problem with public sector jobs is the lack of inflation tracking raises. Private sector workers might fall behind in a year and then jump up in year two. Not as reliable in public sector jobs. When you start missing raises or getting token 1% raises, you fall far behind. You make up for that with perks. When you can't afford the perks, its time to blow the whole thing up and start over.

Anyone have any idea what the OWH is doing to "Better Serve Your Digital Content Needs"

Got this email on Sunday. I am a seven day subscriber and am registered and use the ePaper a fair amount. Be interesting to see what this all means.

The email was sent as a jpg image too so that is what I am posting

It says in the message that they are changing platforms. Maybe they are using a different epaper provider.

Their current paywall is so easily foiled by private mode in modern browsers, they had an incentive to find a new one.

Of course, their previous paywall couldn't handle users who have multiple devices well at all (phone, office computer, home computer), so that had to be replaced if they were serious about playing digitally.

It mentions bith the ePaper and the .com sigh so it could be. You have always had to have a log in for th ePaper. Guess that will be the case for .com too beyond some basic teasers but who knows.

You read it all of the time here! Seems like half of the posts are OWH quotes and links.

I'm old school and still have a subscription. I read the paper version as much as the free online or e-paper versions.

Haha, very very true. I come here for most of my news, plus I get the added bonus of far more interesting characters giving/discussing the news than any local media outlet.
