Closed as of Monday. I'd attach the pic of the sign up on the window but it's too big to upload and I'm on my mobile.

My wife is from Marion, IA, where the chain started. We recently visited there two weekends ago and I noticed that they really increased their prices. Most meals were between $11-15. For casual Mexican food, that is overpriced. Most other restaurants of this calibur would be in the $9-11 range for most meals. They must have known that business was struggling and trying to make up for it by increasing the prices.

I drive by this Omaha location daily. In the past year or so I can't recall a time when their parking lot was more than 1/4 full.

It will be interesting to see what goes in its place.

It looked like they were taking out cheap racks and petty stuff. All the good stuff must already be gone.

I never understood the idea behind a "Mexican" restaurant named Kelly. Just dumb.

Place is now unrecognizable. All signs are gone. Only the color scheme gives away what once was here.

At about 5:30 PM there were 3-4 pickup trucks loading up what looked like the booth seating.

Most of the equipment was removed today. Semi trailer and a forklift loading several large pieces of kitchen equipment and storage racks.

Actually, that's the report I heard: Chick-Fil-A is moving into Carlos O'Kelly's on Maple Street.

I agree with the point that a Mexican restaurant shouldn't be named "O'Kelly's", and I don't know how authentic it is, but I've always enjoyed it. Sad to see it go...

They emptied the building and it was demoted and gone in about 10 days after everything was removed from what I remember.

That's what replaced them in Bellevue.

I thought this store closed years ago.

I've heard from several sources that chick-fil-a will be the replacement. Nothing in the city council agendas, permits, or real estate transfers as of yet.

Yes, there is a replacement and it is nothing new to Omaha, just another location of an existing business. I just can't say what it is.

Not a chick-fil-a does not surprise me. All their other stand alone locations, even the not developed one on N. 72nd are company owned. The Carlos property was for rent only. Still shows as being owned by DSAG Investments. It went off the market maybe 1.5 months ago. I work nearby and noticed the signs were gone.

If you go to the page it says there is also job listing for one at 72nd and Giles in addition to the Dodge, Maple, and Westroads stores. Is there one there now?

Maybe it's because I'm not out in that area much, but it seems like that went up incredibly quick.

Also, maybe time for a thread title change?
