A coworker and I tried Addy's wings over the weekend, getting the Garlic Wings (2015 is the year of the Chicken Wings), which were nice and spicy, moist wings like I like them. Good crowd for a cold windy night in Millard, our waitress was very attentive to our needs, checking on us multiple times during our stay, but had a math problem when trying to figure out our bill. I would have given the place four stars, but the beers available were standard Sports bar beers, I finally settled on Infusion's Joel Porter, which I have had at Infusion, but I could swear the Bowl hadn't been washed well enough from the previous user since it really smelled and partly tasted like an Apple Cider, which they have on tap. Such a buzz kill.

This will be interesting with DJ's right across the street. I can only assume that these places have discovered how to survive on events, not day to day traffic.
Grow Omaha announced last week that Addy's is building a new Millard Location in front of the Super Saver on 144th. This will replace the current Addy's just down the hill. Groundbreaking Spin or Early summer 2022. Could feature a rooftop component too.
Just went to that location 2 weeks ago for the first time. It was pretty good. We got a plate of Nachos to share and it had the most meat I have ever had on a super nacho anywhere.

While enjoying some delicious spicy garlic wings yesterday, the bartender relayed that this project is still a go and expected to be moving into the new location in April (presumably 2024). Seems like an aggressive timeline since I don't believe they've started construction, but we'll see.

I've had a few work functions and happy hours at the Millard Addy's over the last several years. Parking at their existing Millard location is really tight. It's not so bad in the evenings as many of the surrounding businesses are closed and don't seem to care too much if you park in their lot. However, go to a large work party there before 5 on a weekday and you'll be parking up and down S street and walking and dodging traffic. So, a roomier location with ample parking would be a welcome change.

That doesn't surprise me. Over the last few months they've had a lot of kitchen staff turnover and bar staff either move locations or leave for personal reasons. The kitchen staff turnover definitely affected the food quality for the worse. We stopped going there in favor of RTG for delicious wings.

Oh, coming to my neighborhood for wings now? I like RTG, but never had the wings.

There’s just SO MANY sports bar/grill places, too, now. A lower quality one just isn’t going to make it with other options. Especially when some are really upping their kitchen game.

Yeah, we're there probably twice a week! My usual is 10 spicy garlic & 5 jerk, extra crispy, char buffed/double dip. Their ranch is probably my favorite anywhere.

Addy’s has decided to shut down their Millard location.
Was this the original location, or had they moved to the new one mentioned earlier?
Original
This was their second location. They originally moved from what is now Corner Kick, a few blocks to the north. That location was more of a dive bar with the current Millard location trying to be a sports bar.
I stopped in there two Friday's ago and the only Lent item they had was a Po Boy. My friend had to order a fish Po Boy with no bread and veggies.

The number of sports bars in that section of Millard is amusing. Within about a 90 second drive of Addy's you've got Bogie's, Choo Choo, and Pheasant. I'm surprised Tanners and DJ's Dugout haven't built locations by CVS too. lol

So, I take it Addy's just decided to ditch Millard altogether? I kept an eye on the area around Hy-Vee and what used to be Super Saver expecting to see a new building go up, but alas...

I'd assume if it hasn't moved forward at this point. That said, they still do on the lot so it's possible.
I can't imagine building a new free-standing sports bar in today's environment. Prices to develop an undeveloped lot are really high. You would need to sell a ton of wings and beers to make up for all those costs.

with all due respect... Addys is meh at best
Honestly, every sports bar is basically a copy of every other sports bar. Same menu, same decor, same specials...
We went to Addy's a bunch when it was small and they only had one then two locations. Once they went big it just wasn't the same. We try to support the small local mom and pop sports bar. We basically rotate between Barrett's, RTG, and Paddy McGowan's. Jimi' D's isn't really a sports bar, but its in the mix too.

I think it’s interesting that the neighboring business bought the location given that Addy’s cites streetcar construction as the reason for closing.

Yet another places with dubious reviews on service and food consistency. You know things you can directly attribute to streetcar construction.

I have never had bad service or food there. It might have something to do with never having been there. would go to DJ's or the Mattress Factory for this type of thing.
For the record NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER !!!!!!!

LOL. Might also have to do with why I never went there. There isn't one sports bar downtown where I want to give them my money. They all suck for one reason or another. If I'm looking to watch a game somewhere, it's about anywhere with a tv that isn't a sports bar.
Mentioned in the Noli's thread but:
Addy's downtown wasn't serving food after the Keith Urban concert last year even though it was a Saturday night. Then they complained about not having business. Meanwhile, DJ's right across the street, planned and kept their kitchen open a little longer and made bank on the amount of business they got as a result.
Flash forward to now, and they can't survive bc business is slow. Again, they didn't plan. Busy season is coming up with the Creighton and Supernova's games. They are just using the streetcar as a cop out.
Izzy's pizza is another restaurant constantly complaining about the streetcar and posting on social media. Seems like they just like to stir the pot sometimes. I love Izzy's but he has complained about being tied into the lease, but as a business owner, don't you think things through?
I don't know how late it would've been after that concert but according to their menu they serve food until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays which sounds reasonable. Given the lack of late night food options staying open a bit later may of been a good strategy or perhaps maybe better yet, go to a limited late night bar menu which is common in the industry.
Meanwhile, in these trying times of streetcar construction, The Fat Putter, which also serves food most of the day, is about to become a fatter putter.
