Entirely possible, but that would mean a change of format for the ball, if it is to happen. They don't use the arena, when they do it at the Clink, but rather the convention center, as its a seated dinner (around tables) right now. I can't really imagine a black tie event sitting in arena seats.

They used to hold the event on the floor of the Aksarben Collisuem, didn't they? (also a hockey arena, for those too young to remember.)

I was just going to mention that... It wouldn't be a change in format, but a return to he AkSarBen Coliseum format.

I watched that --- looks like 99% dealt with how beneficial it would be for the Hockey team... although VB and BB were mentioned briefly as playing in it.

The practice facility has been long needed, dating back nearly ten years. I still don't understand what took so long to get it built. The arena is a different matter entirely.

Now this is an Arena built for hockey! What a great hockey barn, you won't have a bad view from anywhere. How did the concourses feel when you were there, wide enough?

But...going to be honest...not a fan of the outside look to the building. Not sure why.

Yes it is. As one of the fans on mav puck said "2015-2016 MAV Hockey #TheLoudReturns".

Too early to tell on the concourses. Right now they are plenty wide, but they are just starting to frame out the concessions stands.

I can't remember, will this hold concerts? I heard a rumor of Foo Fighters, but that couldn't hold more than 12k for concerts could it?

No way it could hold 12k. Even with floor seating, I bet it doesn't top 9k.

It's smaller than the Civic,   :grr: so 9k is probably close to the top end...

The MAC in CB holds just under 6800 for hockey but can go to 9k for concerts. Interestingly enough though, the MAC has more parking than UNO, 2600 stalls.

The MAC can go to 9,000 for concerts? Wow, would not have guess that one. Are they putting seats on the ceiling or in the isles? Hah.

Amazing how many newer arena and stadiums we have built recently. Centurylink, Mid America, TD Ameritrade, Werner, Ralston, and now UNO.

Coach Blais was just on "The Drive" on AM590 With Nick and Joe. They asked him about the new building being too Small. He said He was pushing for 9,000, but they went with 7,500. He said "Its going to be a hard ticket to get, but may be that's not a bad thing."

Article by Shatel about the Centurylink Center and how it wasn't a fit for hockey (sorry not sure if this belongs in this thread, or the UNO Hockey thread? hah)

http://www.omaha.com/uno/shatel-arena-t ... 32f8c.html

I couldn't disagree more with some of the ideas in here, especially "good hockey rinks being vertical" as per the fan Red Army guy mentioned in the article...the good Hockey rinks (my opinion), like Aksarben was, the Xcel center in the Twin Cities, and of course the Joe Louis Arena, have seating that goes out and then up, with a low as possible ceiling to allow for best views and noise combined. The CLink did that (albeit not as well as the previously mentioned venues..).

I do agree, however, that the CLink is much much too large for what UNO needed, but when it was full...it had a great hockey atmosphere.

Me too, it's going to be a great Arena and a perfect size for UNO (for all their sports). Not to mention it'll be easy getting something to drink or eat afterwards!

That is one of the big drawbacks of the CLink now, there is only a few places within short walking distance to grab something to eat. That needs to change.

No, its black and silver. Its hard to see in Coyote's photo, but the silver started going in on the top, but it looks white in the photo.

Oh thank god. I was worried that it was the final color, and not just the backing/materials/whatever they call it that hadn't been covered yet.

There was a smaller sample section over by Center Street by the job site trailers.
