does Omaha have any sort of public Oktoberfest celebration? i can think of nothing more fun than a few big tents, picnic benches, and great German beer.
do we celebrate that sort of thing around here? i've been out of Omaha for the past 5 years. i've recently returned. and want to get a yearly autumn festival going.
downtown is the obvious spot. right in front of Das Rhineland would be perfect.
is this kind of thing happening yet? or do i need to try and make it happen?

Oktoberfest in Omaha?
I know that Gerda's (great little German restaurant and bakery across from Wohlner's) has some sort of Oktoberfest celebrations. They bust out the Paulaner and other fine beers.

Edelweiss in Bellevue has a great Oktoberfest! I go there every year. You can even bring your own stein to save a few dollars. They set up huge tents outside, have polka bands, and multiple german beers on tap.
