After an extensive renovation of the former Jobber's Canyon space, a sleek new Blue Sushi Sake Grill opened late last week at 416 S. 12th St.
Nick Hogan — chief executive officer of Omaha-based Progressive Enterprises Inc., an umbrella group for Blue, Roja Mexican and Bianco Italian restaurants and their catering wing — has said the group has always wanted an Old Market location.
The new blue-hued, first-floor dining room and red-lit Sake Bombers lounge upstairs seat a combined 200 diners and imbibers — roughly twice as many as the original Blue, near 144th Street and West Maple Road. A smaller Baby Blue Sushi and Sake Bombers opened in Legacy this spring.

No food review from me. However, that blue wall is a sight to behold from the street. They definitely attract peoples attention more than Jobbers Canyon did.

We had a Girl's Night Out at the new downtown Blue a few weekends ago. We sat upstairs in the lounge part and had rolls and some other non-fish stuff (we're not very adventurous sushi eaters). It's the same menu as Blue out west, and the food was just as good as what I've had there before. The atmosphere was a good mix of their west O location and Old Market charm - lots of stainless steel and sweet lighting along with exposed brick. It has the "not in Omaha anymore" feeling that Nomad did when it first opened. I'd definitely recommend it.

Hotel Cali is great, also try Crunchy Blue and Crunchy LA. They have crab in them, no fish so they are usually good for people who "Dont like Sushi"

Blue Sushi Sake Grill, offering Asian flavors, is set to take up another. The restaurant chain currently has five other locations, including Denver, Ft. Worth, Tex., and three in Omaha, with one more soon to open in Lincoln, Neb.

This is an interesting problem for bars. The cocktails cost too much, but they also have just insane amounts of sugar. With type 2 diabetes becoming so common, there are more and more of us who can't drink that kind of drink, and between the expense and the sugar, more and more people just don't go.

I just ordered a straight whiskey. I can get Jack on the rocks at most places for between 5-7 dollars. Unless the bartender does a backflip while serving the drink or it's poured over chilled diamonds, there is no reason a drink should cost that much.
I will admit, the ambiance was nice.

They mentioned on Grow Omaha today that baby blue sushi at Legacy has temporary closed and is expanding. It will be a full blue sushi. The new space will be 2000 SF larger than the existing space.

Hm, wonder where they'll put it? I can't think of a continuous bay available that would add 2000 sq ft. But if it's "temporarily closed", you would think that means it's more of a remodel/renovation and therefore kept the existing space. I thought the bay to the east of them was rented out.
I just checked their website and they say they'll be reopening November 26th. Perfect timing as you will be able to enjoy your Thanksgiving sushi!

Nice - I miss the aquarium they had. No one seems to keep them, obviously due to upkeep costs. But it was something nice to look at.
I haven't been in Baby Blue at Shops of Legacy is quite some time, but I recall thinking the place was one big Sapporo commercial. A few of the walls were just shelf after shelf of Sapporo cans on display. It was rather amusing to behold.

Last time I was in there, it was still setup like that on the east side (bar side).
I imagine that will be gone-dy after the remodel. My wife loves their food... I used to think their lunch special and happy hour deal wasn't bad, but that's when it was about $11. Two sushi rolls and a salad. Now I think it's about $17 or something for the same deal.
Anyway, I look forward to an update even though I won't be in there often - it remained the same for 20 years.

I saw that. It used to be $11 for 2 Rolls and Salad and Soup. Now it's like $17 for 2 Rolls and Salad or Soup.
