Technically I don't think Drones are allowed anywhere in Downtown Omaha. A 5 mile radius of Eppley covers all of downtown... If you draw a line from the end of Eppley's runway towards downtown, the 5 mile radius extends all the way to the 80/480/JFK junction!

Speaking of Werner, the 5 Mile Radius of the Millard Airport covers Werner so there probably should not have been a drone there either.

It's amazing just how much these comparatively small infill projects change the ambiance of their surroundings. I opine for the next skyscraper as much as the next but in the meantime keep the infill coming.

Perhaps they were confident the project would be successful even if they didn't get approved for TIF.

So they were quite confident they were going to be approved for TIF. So confident that they started construction before they were approved.

That is my assumption. I think TIF is pretty much rubber stamped so developers don't really worry about it too much.

Maybe they were assured that the TIF would be passed by the city so they could expedite the timeline. I always think it makes the precess not look very genuine though.

Living across the street from here, I cannot agree with this sentiment more.

Here's an updated (crappy) picuture. All of the windows and doors in the inner courtyard are in and they have begun putting brick on the building:

My guess is that they will wait on the pool until spring. That is what the Corvina is doing as well.

I think it is mostly done, there might even be people living in there, but when I walked by 2 weeks ago they were still working on some outside stuff and the pool area was just dirt.

Windows and doors have been going in for awhile here. They have a few of the decks up as well, on the inner courtyard area. I'll try to get a picture today when I can. This building looks a little, I don't know, bland and UNO dorm-ish to me, but I suppose it could all come together in the end. As others have mentioned, really nice to have some infill in this area, especially with ground level retail/restaurant/activity.

Anyone else think its odd that this courtyard opens to the street, and not the alley? Maybe they did this for the southern facing sunlight into the courtyard and balconies, but just seems backwards to me. From an urban planning perspective, flipping the building around would have put height right up at the street side, creating the feeling of density. Plus the courtyard would be much quieter/more private facing inwards...
