Balloon Fair 2004

As I alluded to in this post, if I found some of these pictures I took last year, I'd post them form the Lighter than Air Balloon Fair at IWCC (not bad pics, considering I was one-handing it with a 9-month old in the other).

Ah, i fondly remember the Aksarben Balloon festival that used to be held every year.... It was much grander in scale than this appears to be...

I remember the Aksarben festival as well, Pancake feed and balloons, it was a great time.

I'm most looking forward to capturing some fine panoramas at the fair. I will definately be there Friday night with my wife and daughter (and my camera, but my wife dosen't like it when I refer to my camera as my other child

)

No problem Bradlee. Thanks for the resize. You'll want to be sure to get there plenty early to stake out a good spot for the balloon glow. I got there about 5 minutes before the first "glow" and had a tough time navigating the crowds just to get some of these shots - further down the row would have been a much better vantage point for a panorama. Just pray the forecast for chance of storms in the area is off a little!

I don't remember this Aksarben balloon festival. How long ago was this? Not sure of that balloon festival's scale, but this pics don't really show the scope of the size of this one.

Oh geez, I think I was in 4th grade the last time there was a balloon fesitival at Aksarben, maybe 15 years ago?

For long pano's, its better to be a little farther away and zoom in, it helps the distortion a bit. I really look forward to it!

This is a VERY cool event. I strongly recommend to anyone who hasn't attended... that they make it out next year.

Great event. I didn't realise just how big the event was or I would have gone much earlier in the day. I am already looking forward to next year. I didn't capture any really great photos or any decent panos like I wanted, but these still work:
