Rock band Mötley Crüe's worldwide reunion tour makes a stop in Omaha on April 12.

The band will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Qwest Center Omaha, according to Ticketmaster and Pollstar.

The tour is in support of the group's forthcoming two-CD anthology, "Red, White & Crüe," which hits stores Feb. 1.

This will be Mötley Crüe's first tour with vocalist Vince Neil, bassist Nikki Sixx, guitarist Mick Mars and drummer Tommy Lee since 1999.

Lee recently spent time in Lincoln filming a new NBC reality program that will debut next year.

Tickets for the concert are $39.50 to $77 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 8.

Mötley Crüe formed in Los Angeles in 1981 had a string of hits throughout the '80s and '90s, including "Shout at the Devil," "Girls, Girls, Girls," "Kickstart My Heart," "Dr. Feelgood" and "Looks That Kill."

I am there. I saw Vince Neil two years ago when he came to the Z92 birthday Bash, they played all Crew stuff and seeing the whole band will be even better!

Someone told me Slipknot might be coming to the Qwest Center. He said he heard it on the radio.

Its a promotion through The River. If they can get 10,000 "petitions" to [email protected] (I think that's the addy) by Jan 31st, or mailed to the River studios then Slipknot will come to the MAC. I'd reference The River's website, but they are rebuilding it.

Considering that 10,000 people won't fit inside the MAC it sounds like they're playing the percentages, ie 70% will show. Its not that much when you consider how many antendees go to a major QC show - 17,000. Of course I have 1/10 that amount of emails in my inbox right now *sigh*

Well I thought that would do strange for Slipknot to have and Omaha since they are from Des Moines and some of the members still live there. At least they considered the MAC.

I heard the promo on 89.7 the river today and it said they needed 10,000 emails to get Slip Knot to play at the MAC, I didn't hear anything about the QC.

I love Slipknot. And it wouldn't just be about if I liked them or not. It would be good to have more concerts in Omaha.

I was just using the QC as a comparison - 10,000 emails/people (which for this contest is required to get Slipknot at the MAC) isn't that many when you consider that 1.5times that many people fit inside the QC. Didn't mean to confuse.

NCAA press release:

INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Wrestling Committee has selected the Savvis Center in St. Louis as the site for the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, the Qwest Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska as the host site for 2010 and the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia to serve as host in 2011.

“The Wrestling Committee thought it said a great deal about the sport and these championships to have the number of quality bids that we had, and that made our job that much more difficult,” said Tom Bold, the previous chair of the NCAA Wrestling Committee who presided over the site selections. “We felt the three cities we selected each offer something very unique and exciting, and will offer an outstanding experience to our student-athletes and fans.”

The University of Missouri, Columbia will co-host the events along with the St. Louis Sports Commission March 20-22, 2008, and March 19-21, 2009. St. Louis has been the host for three previous Division I Wrestling Championships in 2000, 2004 and 2005. In 2000, St. Louis set the all-session attendance record of 96,944 fans, which still stands.

"St. Louis has done a tremendous job of hosting the wrestling championships in the past," Bold said. "The wrestling committee has been extremely impressed with the dedication of the staff from Missouri, the Savvis Center and the St. Louis Sports Commission to the championships. In addition, the feedback the committee received from the student-athletes, coaches and fans during the last two years in St. Louis was overwhelmingly positive so we are excited to go back."

In 2010, the University of Nebraska, Lincoln will co-host the event along with the Omaha Sports Commission March 18-20. It will mark the first time the championships have ever been held in the state of Nebraska.

"We were extremely impressed with the proximity of everything in Omaha," Bold said. "The Qwest Center Omaha, hotels, airport and restaurants are all very close. Also, Omaha is conveniently located with regards to many of our institutions and the fans that have supported this event in the past. With the great partnership the NCAA already has with the city of Omaha through the Men’s College World Series, we know that they will to do a tremendous job."

The championships will be back in the state of Pennsylvania for the first time since 1999, March 17-19, 2011. Rider University and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference will host the event. Overall, the event has been held in the state 10 times before, but this will be the first time it will be held in Philadelphia. Previous Pennsylvania host sites include Bethlehem, Pittsburgh and State College.

"The state of Pennsylvania is a wrestling hotbed," Bold said, "and this will give our fans on the East Coast a chance to see wrestling's premier event for the first time in a long while. The Wachovia Center is a state-of-the-art venue, and the city of Philadelphia is a perfect site to showcase the championships."

Previously announced, the 2006 championships will be held at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, March 16-18, while the 2007 championships will be held March 15-17, at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan.

Great! Take that, Des Moines! There was a big deal made on the DM site about how they were going to get this because Iowa was such a great wrestling place and the Wells Fargo arena was going up. There was an online poll for Sports Illustrated (I think) that had Omaha, Philadelphia, St. Louis, and Des Moines as options of where people thought it should go. Des Moines was surprisingly high and Omaha was at the bottom. So excuse me while I take moment to gloat since Des Moines was the only city NOT to be selected.

Roger Dixon, president of the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority, said his group is now targeting the Frozen Four. The next round of bids for the NCAA hockey final four will be awarded for the 2012 through 2015 seasons.

Sorry to Des Moines, but I had to pick this quote out...

The NCAA Wrestling Committee said Des Moines and its new Wells Fargo Arena fell short for a couple of reasons.

NCAA officials said the facility was still under construction when they visited and it was hard to get a sense of what the final facility would be like. The maximum seating capacity of around 14,000 fell short of the 16,000 that was preferred.

Now, a question about the Big XII wrestling, is that always going to be in Omaha or did we just catch a year in a rotation? Also, anyone find out if the Qwest will be the official home of the Volleyball final four? I heard the Omaha Sports Comission was working on that a few months ago too. Anyway, great news for the Qwest! Now if we could only get the convention venter to do the same thing...

Big-12 Wrestling is at Iowa State this year. The event changes venues each year, and I don't really forsee it finding a permanent home any time soon. As far as the V-ball final four goes the final four still rotates sites. The Qwest Center has regionals this year, and the final four next year. This years final four is at the Alamodome in San Antonio, and then moves to Sacramento, CA in 2007.

Well DTO, if you knew a little more about the sport, you would realize that in college wrestling circles, Nebraska is not considered a state gung-ho for wrestling like Iowa, Pennsylvania or Oklahoma, to name a few. Nonetheless, good get for the Qwest in bringing the NCAA wrestling championship to the State of Nebraska for the first time ever. Only 13 more times and it'll match the number of times it's been in Iowa!
