Sometime yesterday a Lund-Ross construction trailer was parked on this site. Looks like things are going to get started with the Saddle Creek/Slowdown project.

Well, there are two pieces of earthmoving equipment on this site and apparently some degree of grading occurred Friday or Saturday. Construction is underway!

Construction is definitely underway. They have been grading and hauling away dirt, putting up a temporary fence, etc.

Well, after all grading was completed, everything was marked off, and nothing has happened since. But I did see a plot layout last week, and it looks pretty good. The largest of the retail bays has also been leased.

After months of nothing happening I noticed more site work had begun this morning. It could be that they had to wait for soil compaction.

I don't understand, did they stop for a while. I took that picture a month ago and it looked like they were working then.

Brad and all....

Lots of grading, and other work did take place, stakes were placed, and rebar forms were sat about, then suddenly everything stopped. No work for about a month. Two days ago, suddenly lots of activity and construction is again underway. Looks like they are getting prepped to do footers, forms, etc. Yay!

Six months later... it does look like the foundation/plumbing is finally complete. Perhaps we'll be seeing walls go up shortly.

Did a lot of soil remediation have to take place before they could start actually working on the building?

I've been looking for any signs of an actual building structure for a year! In two years or so, Omaha saw a 40+ story office building go up. One year, and what do we have. Part of a parking lot, weeds growing around footers laid 8 months ago, a lonely steel beam that's rusting, a rectangle of cinder block, a poorly laid parking lot that resembles a kiddy roller coaster, etc., etc., etc. I've seen suburban strip malls go up in less time. The last I heard was February of next year for completion. I'm not holding my breath, and it isn't even a difficult structure to build!

And no, this project did not require compaction of soil. If fact, they had to haul excess dirt away. Thank gawd other North Downtown projects seem to be on a faster track to completion!

The project was had 2 major delays from the beginning. The first had was due to contaminated soil and political red tape between the City and Union Pacific regarding residential portions of the project and liabilities associated. The second had to due to design changes to accomodate a new retailer coming to the area and Omaha. This retailer is in addition to the Yia-Yia's previously announced.

Me too!

Can anyone snap some quick photos? I've got a busy week and probably won't be able to make it downtown for a self-update.

Yeah, but the truck traffic going in and out of the hotel construction north across the street made this place look deserted. When I swung by there must have been at least a dozen or so - actively preparing the soil - kicking up a ton of dust. Inplay looked like the were in the middle of a dust bowl.
