Which Type Of Sports Do You Prefer To Watch?
I didn't include high school because they don't get much broadcasting coverage as college or pro.

I only put pro because the only college I watch is football and sometimes basketball. But I'll watch almost any pro sport.

Re: Which Type Of Sports Do You Prefer To Watch?
Depends on the sport. Pro hockey and baskeball are better than college level. Paralympic track is more fun to watch than regular track. Paralympic rugby is more fun to watch than regular rugby. Cricket and mens soccer are boring no matter who is playing. Football and girls soccer are both head injury factories that result in too many people permanently damaged in life altering ways to be ethically supportable. Hockey has made serious efforts to deal with risk of head and neck injuries. Football has not. Till they do, I am out. Same with girls soccer. Fix the concussion and neck injury risk for high school girls, or I remain out and a vocal critic.

I generally prefer pro, the only real exception is that I do like college hockey.

Depends.
Baseball - pro
Football - college
Basketball - college
Hockey - pro
Soccer - pro
I tend to be more invested in college sports because its more personal to me despite living in cities with pro teams the past 7 years. I also think I've become a bigger fan of Iowa State sports than Nebraska, even though undergraduate me thought that doing so would make me a traitor. But to call me an avid sports fan would be generous.

I once told my mom that the Nebraska/Oklahoma rivalry was one reason why college football was better than the NFL.

I remember giving a speech in speech class about why college football is better than pro football.mrsticka wrote: Sat Jul 07, 2018 12:21 am I once told my mom that the Nebraska/Oklahoma rivalry was one reason why college football was better than the NFL.

I prefer professional football, but I always have a soft spot for the Huskers. I prefer professional football because of the definitive scheduling process... You win games, you lose games. In college it's kinda funky to me. You beat who? You lost to who? It's based too much on the opinion of people.
I definitely prefer pro football, basketball and baseball because there's a definitive process. College sports involve more opinion and emotion, which is great if you prefer that approach.

Re: Which Type Of Sports Do You Prefer To Watch?
The MLB playoff system is kinda weird. You've got 2 Wild Card games. One for the American League and one for the National League. Then the Best-of-5 Division series, then Best-of-7 Championship series and finally the World Series which is also a Best-of-7.
What if there were 4 Best-of-3 Wild Card series? 2 for both leagues. Then the Division Series which is still Best-of-5, followed by the Championship Series which is still Best-of-7. And finally the World Series as a Best-of-9? Too much? Yeah, I think so, too. That would pretty much guarantee baseball being played into November. And I don't think a lot of people would like that. Baseball is not a November sport.

I personally don't think the wildcard teams deserve any more accommodation. There's definitely a lot of reasons they do it the way they do, and like you said, not running late is a large part of it.mrsticka wrote: Sun Jul 08, 2018 11:28 pm What if there were 4 Best-of-3 Wild Card series? 2 for both leagues.

I will always choose the NBA over any other college or pro league in any sport.

I know how the NBA playoff system goes–Conference Quarterfinals, Conference Semi-finals, Conference Finals, then the Finals to decide the champion. Each round is a Best-of-7 series.
But how does the NHL playoff system work? Is it like the MLB and NFL? Wild Card, Division, Championship? Then finally the Stanley Cup?
