I was both dumbfounded as well as disappointed at the new, a la carte menu. I predict this may doom the chain.

My guess is that 122nd? Center will be next. There is never anybody in there when I go.

I have to agree. I almost never see a crowd there. Even the Taco Bell has more traffic.

The one in Aksarben took a long time to open, then quickly disappeared. I'm not sure that many people had chance to realize it was there and actually open.

It was/is very pricey for what you get. On the BBQ scale, its rather low. A step below Famous Dave's.

Well, considering that all else being equal I need $1.10 to get something from T'Bell and 10+ to get something from Dickey's the discrepancy is easily explainable

Not necessarily. For example, Culver’s is more expensive and they seem like they’re busy all the time. What stopped me from going to Dickey’s was wondering what meat they were going to be out of when I walked in. Thought you are correct, it was too expensive for what you were getting.

There has been movement inside this location this week for the first time since it closed, but I can't find out what is going on here.

It looks like Nebraska has gone from a dozen or so Dickey's Barbecue Pit locations to just one (the one near 120th & Center).

I thought Dickey's was a decent place. I like that you could also get ice cream. But I will admit, I didn't go there often.

For me, BBQ feels like a food that should ALWAYS be local. I tend to avoid the chains like Dickey's and Famous Dave's. I've had good meals at chains, but honestly, they just don't compare with Smokin' Barrel, Hartland, Porky Butt's, Swine Dining, We'll Smoke U, Parkers, J's Smokehouse, et. al.

Dickey's used to be everywhere. Even Falls City had one for a short while.

I found it to be aggressively mediocre. it was the fast food version of a Famous Daves. As omaha's quality BBQ choices increased, both Famous Daves and Dickies went by the wayside, go figure. Omaha went from being a barbeque desert to having almost a half dozen solid choices in the space of about 5-7 years. These places just became unnecessary.

It’s not just Omaha, they shut down 100 of them in 2024.

I wasn’t a fan. I tried them a few times, getting different things each time but it never sat well. Give me Porkybutts or Swine Dining instead.
