Why Do People Love Scooters?

This off brand starbucks is all over Nebraska. For some reason everyone around here is obsessed with it and I don't know why. Their coffee is worse than starbucks, they have nothing unique to offer, their prices are higher than most other coffee chains. Why do so many people love it?

I think being a local company is part of it. I have generally liked it but I haven’t typically gotten straight up coffee.

I prefer Starbucks personally, but I know someone who is a huge coffee drinker, and she prefers a weaker coffee. For this reason, she prefers Scooters.

I think, as was stated previously here, Scooters is an Omaha based company. And they’ve really expended their footprint in the US over the past 10 years.. and good for them. I’m happy to see an Omaha based company find the success Scooters has..

That said, I’m not a Scooters “fan”. Locally, I prefer Blue Line or Aroma’s, even Crane.. But typically, when I go to a coffee shop on the weekends (with my schedule, Sat/Sun are the only days I have time to do so), I’m usually hitting up Starbucks 9 out of 10 times. I just prefer their product over a Scooters.. But everyone is different and has their preferences...

We often buy the bulk size Scooters baged coffee in the GI Sams Club. Brew it to taste, it's good and priced pretty decent.

I'm with Cowboy. I like the fact that an Omaha based company is doing well----good for them. I try them almost every time I'm in Omaha, and every time I regret it. Too weak for me; their espresso tastes like water. I usually end up at one of the local places like Blue Line or Archetype.

Not as much of a coffee fan as most of you. I agreee with your take. Scooters is too weak and Starbucks tastes like they made coffee out burnt beans. I bought some dark roasted Arabica beans from a farmer on Cuba that are black as coal, but still have aroma. Can't say I have ever had coffee at Starbucks that smells as good as these beans.

The only time I will go to scooters is if I want some dessert. Their coffee is average but they are very good at making foo foo sugar loaded blenders.

Scooters is okay. In terms of Charbucks, I like their Pike's Place roast. That's what I use when making coffee at home.

I really wish Peet's Coffee would move to the area. I can't handle Scooters and Starbucks is going downhill and has been moving away from coffee the last few years. Not a great business plan for a coffee shop.

Definitely better than Dunkin as well. Dunkin is barely above Starbucks in my book. Not a fan of Crane either.

I'm amazed at the line at ALL the coffee shops around Omaha on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Do people not make coffee at their house anymore? I can't believe all these people that are paying $5-$8 dollars for a drink, it is OUTRAGEOUS!

I agree. Especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings- Starbucks, Scooters etc.. you name it, coffee shops all around the metro are very busy on weekend mornings. I don’t get out to coffee shops during the weekdays (sometimes I can on Friday afternoons).. But on Saturday and Sunday, I do hit up my favorite Starbucks.. I usually wait until after 12 noon to go either day.. I’m a customer who stays, unpacks and hangs at the coffee shop for an hour or 2 just to relax and decompress..and I like to get a good seat to position my laptop and drink.. earlier in the mornings either on a Saturday or a Sunday is a madhouse.. even inside the cafe..and during those times, it’s hard to get a seat/table..

On the pricing though, to be fair, if someone is ordering a foo foo fancy latte or cold/hot beverage, they’ll likely be paying in the $5 to $7 dollar range for the drink.. But if you’re someone like me that goes into a coffee shop to actually drink coffee, the price is in the $2 to $3 dollar range even for the largest size.. So the pricing isn’t that outrageous...

Standard brewed coffee isn't terribly expensive considering the convenience element. It's your sugary specialty drinks that can get pricey.

I have one coffee almost every morning, buy a big jar of freeze dried coffee and all it takes is 90 seconds to heat the water and you get like 70 coffees out of that jar. Freeze dried coffee is so easy and it tastes better than when I brew it at home. It is super easy to doctor it up in various ways. I'll never understand why people wait in line for coffee at any establishment. Save time and money and make an equivalent at home!

That's not a criticism, it is being around their products too much. (I had family that owned a couple at one time, and I helped out at them. I sat inside one in Lincoln at my lap top way too long, and one too many times... That's all.) They are actually in Kansas City and Denver and Dallas now. They are a great chain.

It was a great experience for them, and a nice franchise to buy into, but they had never done that kind of thing before, and the business just ruled their whole life, and they never had time for anything else. It becomes your "baby." So, they decided to sell it.

Back in those years, it was seriously "Scooters Mania" in our lives, because several of us helped with it. I do love their coffee and smoothies (especially that peanut butter one), but I think I had them all one too many times -- almost like some adults still can't hardly eat a peanut butter & jelly sandwich after all the brown bag lunches they had growing up. While in Omaha, I still walked in there here & there to mainly use their wi-fi, and many times I would just order a Red Bull. lol (I mean it when I say I had too much of it.)
