For humors sake... Chip, the Colorado mascot points the t-shirt canon the wrong way.
He had to be carted off the field.

It was funny because it was a mascot, but if that thing hit him where it hurts most, the person inside the costume could have been in some serious trouble. Just this month one of my old team mates took an upper cut to his manhood which subsequently cut his cords, and had he not seen attention immediately, he would have lost them both due to necrosis. So I hope whoever was in that suit ended up with everything intact.

Wow, they just don't want to play a controlled game do they?

Nebraska gets wiped by Michigan, the next week, Northwestern gives Michigan all they can handle. I'm super jealous of all those teams out there dishing competitive efforts.

Ozigbo balled out, Martinez played pretty okay, some of the defenders showed some fight. Those things I was happy to see..

To go down 42-21 was disappointing and obviously on the defense. BUT despite that, the offense had like 5 opportunities to score to Purdue's zero to close out the game. So good on the D to at least close out well. Offense was disappointing during those 5 opportunities and only took advantage of one. I was disappointed they weren't able to tie it up because they had plenty of opportunities at the end.

I said it last week, but I get the feeling the only game the Huskers will win on their schedule is Oct 27th against Bethune Cookman..

The way things are shaking out right now, this is a 2 win team at most..

I hope they prove me wrong...

Nebraska's defense is a lost cause and Wisconsin will no doubt run up lots of points. The Nebraska offense has a weak running game that will quickly be shut down and ran out of town well before half time. This will put the load on the quarterback freshman prodigy who so far has never even won his first game yet.

Seriously. There hasn't been a glimmer of hope this year. Oddly, I think most of the fans are accepting of what is unfolding. At this point winning doesn't matter much to me, just show some improvement and give me something that is worth my time to watch, as in at least hang in the game for a quarter or something like that.

So far, my 2 favorite Nebraska/Wisconsin games are the one from September 2012 when Nebraska won on a field goal. There was a full moon that night. And then there was the 2016 game that went into overtime, even though Nebraska lost that one.

On a different note, Nebraska and Oklahoma never went into overtime when they played each other.

To be fair OT didn't start in the collage game until 1996.
Of the 86 games they have played all time only 10 of those have been played from 96 until now. Prior to 96 there have been three tie's.

Here's a hypothetical scenario:
It's 2016, Nebraska is still in the Big 12 (along with Colorado, Missouri and Texas A&M). It's the Saturday before Thanksgiving and Nebraska plays Oklahoma down in Norman. At the end of the 4th quarter, the game is tied at 17 and goes into overtime. Who do you see winning? As much as I hate to say it, probably Oklahoma because they seemed to have an edge over Nebraska as far back as Barry Switzer.

That Nebraska will lose to Wisconsin Saturday night is not in question..

The real question is how severe the beating will be.. Will Wisconsin administer an Ohio St type beat down of the Huskers in the neighborhood of 56-3 or 63-7? Or- Will the Badgers put in a workman like performance, then let the foot off the gas for a 35-7 victory? Or will they play sloppily, not take NU seriously and pull out a 28-14 type win?..

Honestly, I could see any of these scenarios happen. Unless the Wisconsin team bus driver takes a detour of Camp Randall, and drives the Badger football team and coaching staff to Canada late Saturday afternoon..I don’t see any scenario where the Huskers pull out a victory..

What say you?...

I don't think this one will be a total beat down. We have played Wis closer than many teams in recent years. Somehow that plays into the teams syce IMO. I do no think WIS is as good as some might think this year ether. We will not win this but I see it more of a 14 pt loss than 35 pt. That being said.... We will see.

I vote for the OT game because it was very exciting, was a road game, and that Wisconsin team was better than the 2012 team. Yeah we beat them that one time but they weren't at the top of their game. Can't wait to compete with the big dogs when they are at their best.

Wisconsin doesn't have the kind of complete offense that can easily put up 50+, but with their running back and our poor defensive play, I could see it happening, easily.

At least once this year Nebraska is going to pull a complete game out of their collective behinds, play out of their minds, and beat someone they 'shouldn't'. I originally thought it might be Michigan, but we'll see this week.

Our overly hyped up Junior College transfer running back quits the team after being demoted. Scott Frost and his coaches have been threatening to crack some skulls the past couple of weeks. I think we now have a pretty good idea of one of the guys Scott Frost was talking about. Personally I thing Greg Bell has about as much of a future in the NFL as Tanner Lee. There ain't no loss here. Truth be known if Greg Bell was any good Scott Frost might of put up with him but since he stinks anyway hit the road Jack. I got my wish I was ready for Greg bell to go after the 2nd game.

I don’t see it. This team roster is quite nearly in disarray..

As it relates to a Husker victory (expected or not)-

Think Oct 27th against Bethune Cookman.. Because it ain’t going to be this weekend...

41-24. Okay, so it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I thought for sure Wisconsin was going to steamroll Nebraska like Michigan did, but no. Nebraska put up more of a fight than I expected. So I guess I can't be too disappointed.

Nebraska was any where between 17-22 pt dogs and I would have bet over. Wisky has the best offensive line and NU's defense at times showed they are almost there. NU left a lot of points out there. Too many penalties still.

Nine straight losses. No wins at home in about 12 months.
Name me another NU coach that lost his first 5 games.
Anyone? Anyone?
Long ago I learned the value of the adage “When you find yourself in a hole, the first thing you need to do is stop digging.”
This program continues to dig. NU fans are now sounding like Cubs fans of yore. “Just wait until next year!” For the Cubs it took about a Century.

80% of Nebraska's problem is due to bad recruiting. Frost did not get hired until the end of December and with only 9 months until the start of the season there was not any time to empty out the team and fill it back up with talented players. Most fans know that obvious unavoidable reality.

Someone posted here that the Defense is almost there. NO the defense is not almost there and not only that it will never be there. The defense will never be worth 2 nickels on its best day until it can be totally rebuilt with new players. It is the offense that is almost there. Nebraska has a quarterback with talent and some receivers with talent but we got nothing for a running back. We need to find a fast running back on the recruiting trail and get him in the lineup so our QB does not have to carry the whole team on his back every single play.

If a quality offensive line is put together to run and pass block, the offense has a QB and some young skill players to be a formidable threat..

NU’s defense simply lacks playmakers at all 3 levels at this point.. They have some good effort guys..But they really need to push recruiting to the offensive and defensive fronts. Build quality there, then you lay the foundation...

Bummer. It was close for a little while, thought they might pull it out. Wisconsin just grinded them down... Kinda like what Nebraska did to opponents over 20 years ago.

If the Huskers were more solid defensively, I might pick them for the upset win at Northwestern this Saturday..

But as of now, no...

What is Nebraska doing back on real TV this week? Does this mean somebody thinks this could be Scott Frost's first big win? I think they better think again because Nebraska is going to get whacked this week. Not just beat but whacked good. Nobody wants to be the team that could not beat Nebraska. This could be a marathon alright as we all watch each week to see if Nebraska will finally win a game.

Of the 11:00 games, this one figures to be the most competitive, on top of everybody wondering if this will be the first win for the Huskers. Also, NU vs NU games have been exciting so far in their short history so it makes sense to me.

I don't think they're gonna get wiped. I think it'll be a better game than vs Purdue, and I'm thinking both teams will score between 24 and 31 points with the winner being a toss-up.

Husker QB Noah Vedral granted immediate eligibility by NCAA, travels to Northwestern
Vedral also is considered a better option for an emergency quarterback than Kearney Catholic freshman walk-on Matt Masker. Vedral replaced Masker on the travel roster.

Chiander is Frosty's Cosgrove. He will fail just like Callahan if he doesn't do something. This hurts my brain more than it should, but just as a fan of football...that was just eye gouging bad.

Heck, Frost even had a "we will take what we want" moment already, now that I think about it. Kinda twistedly funny in a way.

Like I stated, if the Huskers were more solid defensively, I would have picked them to win today.. But it wasn’t just the defense today. Coaching was suspect in several areas as well- most notably in OT- Kick the FG!!! This team is 1-10 on 4th downs this season. You kick the dang FG in that situation.. And also NU gets the onside kick with field position at midfield late in the game.. Northwestern has 3 time outs. 3 unimaginative running plays up the middle accomplish NW burning all of their timeouts.. At least try to run some zone read. One 1st down in that situation wins the game for Nebraska. Instead NU ran about 13 seconds off the clock and punts the ball..NW had 2 minutes to go 99 yards with NO timeouts..

The Huskers blowing this game with a 31-21 4th quarter lead was unacceptable..

Unbelievable loss and more heartbreaking than a blowout imo...

100% agree with these both. In college OT you HAVE to get points on each possession because each period starts in field goal range. It completely baffles me why they went for it. 99.99% of Husker fans had to have been screaming KICK THE FIELD GOAL! I strongly dislike those OT rules, but if you're a college coach, you have to know how important points are in that situation. Pickering totally has that kick.

Maybe this staff gets it together in the future, but they are bad this season. No reason to lose today other than poor coaching. How do you go super aggressive in overtime after going conservative in the 4th quarter with a 10 point lead?

The painful part was Northwestern and Fitzgerald were bad. They made several mistakes and poor decisions. Nebraska finally got some breaks. Yet Frost let them off the hook.

I don't know. I guess I'm just used to Nebraska football being broadcast on ABC. It has been ever since I was a baby. Not having it on ABC just doesn't feel right.

But as for the game itself, I am totally dumbfounded as to how Nebraska could let a 10-point lead slip away and lose in overtime. That is utter lunacy.

Apparently 0-6 for the first time ever. One of my Facebook friends was calling for the entire Board of Regents to be fired which was an interesting take...
