I've noticed this. A lot of Husker fans depend on cut and dry win or loss. Yeah this season is literally the worst, but we couldn't be in a better situation with our head coach. The guy has spent time with many football geniuses and I don't doubt the big picture he has planned for the team. Who else would have really fit? When it comes right down to it, this year is an experiment that I think will help future seasons.

Maybe this is all just one big setup to suprise Ohio State! :sarcasm:

There was a guy so upset at Farnam Fest after Nebraska lost to Troy that his wife had to take him home b/c he was making a fool of himself. Vast majority of fans have a relatively level head, but Nebraska football does seem to breed some absolutely insane behavior by supposed adults.

Fans pay a ton to support the team. The larger culture tolerated over devotion to the team. When the fan has several years of amazing performance and then a long stretch of ok performance, and then it crashes, you get people who are now embarrassed by their extreme fan status and go nuts.

As for pro teams, think about the Dallas Cowboys fans. Years ago they were dominant, then they were solid, but not dominant, then the wheels fell off. Those folks that dropped piles of cash on Cowboy gear and TV packages, took lots of grief for their fandom.

Odds makers have Nebraska favored by 4 points playing at home this week against Minnesota. I agree and predict Nebraska gets its first win of the season this week.

Positivity? From you? And I agree with you? This is some serious Twilight Zone stuff. But yeah Minnesota is bad, and even though we lost last weekend there were more strong points throughout the game than earlier matchups this season.

I believe it started at 6 and made its way down to 3.5 which would be what home field advantage for NU is, so they are about a pick em. The crowd better make the difference...

The Huskers are somehow a 4 point favorite this weekend. If I was a betting man, I would definitely take the Golden Gophers with the spread.

Bookies tend to have problems with teams like NU and other teams with a large and devoted fan base. They want about as many people on each side and they get it with playing games with the spread. Had they said NU +7, no one would take the bet. By saying NU +4, they are essentially saying the same thing (win by a touchdown), and they can avoid scaring off too many Husker fans.

Never bet on Nebraska. I am hopeful they win, but the farther they go into the hellscape of 0 and *, the more teams want to be the next winner instead of the team that an 0 and 6 team beat.

Well, I usually make a prediction based on the whole year, and if I were to do that I'd have the Huskers losing.

But I do think they've improved over the last three games, so based off of Nebraska's last three and Minnesota's last three (where they've regressed), I actually think the Huskers will nab this one somewhere in the neighborhood of 34-28.

Although I wouldn’t call Minnesota’s performance last week as having regressed- The Gophers gave Ohio St a nice game in Columbus before losing by a respectable 30-14.. I hope you are correct and NU can grab their 1st win tomorrow afternoon...

Having regressed as in losing their last three vs winning their first three. I really know nothing about how they look on the field. If I used their first three games it would have skewed my opinion of them lately so... I don't know just trying to make an accurate prediction. They just as easily could lose tomorrow.

Great to get the first win out of the way, and in more impressive fashion than I could have predicted... I'm going to forget about the season to this point and consider the team 1-0. If they can finish the season 4-2, I'll be satisfied. If 5-1, elated.

I wasn't able to watch the game though, what's the takeaway?

Off to a good start, 28-0.
Only 2 penalties in the first half, 6 total.
Martinez (a Freshman) 25-29. Best percentage completion of over 20 passes since Humm.
3 100 yard rushers, 1 100 yard receiver .
They finally played the full Version of Sirius during the Tunnel Walk, thank god., that was huge!

Was Minnesota's offense their own enemy, or did the Huskers D play well?.. Or should I say better as they still gave up 28 points.

Part of it was Minnesota. NU’s defense wasn’t great..They started out playing extremely well when the Huskers built their 28-0 lead.. After that, however, the defense was very inconsistent and made numerous mistakes busting coverage. But I will give them credit- after the Huskers made it 39-22, and gave up an 87 yard kickoff return to set up the Gophers 1st and Goal at the NU 4, the Husker D made a big play interception on a deflected ball.. basically sealing their win..

Overall though- Finally! Great 1st win for Coach Frost and the Huskers :thumb: ...

I'm not going to lie. When Minnesota got a touchdown in the 3rd quarter and narrowed the score 28-22, I feared they would come from behind and win. Thankfully, that didn't happen. Nebraska stepped it up.

Well shoot, they were probably caught looking past Purdue to their next opponent, Nebraska. Seeing how Nebraska played Purdue better than Ohio State did, that should mean the Huskers will beat the Buckeyes by two scores.

That really sucks for Ohio State though. To lose like that has to hurt going into a bye and It'll probably hurt their ranking pretty badly for now, seeing how Purdue still shouldn't be ranked even after that win. in the end If Ohio State wins out they are still in the playoff.

It does give you a little hope for the Huskers though.

Got to agree here. The other sports guys seem to have at least a passing awareness of CU and could find UNO on a map. Sean Callahan seems like a guy who wears Husker footie PJs to bed after saying prayers to a TO statue.

Doesn't he run a Husker Football Recruiting website? I mean, he reports on Husker Football recruiting, and the Football program. That's it. Why would he care about CU and UNO?

Hes pushing his luck trying to tell us what Scott Frost should be doing and when he starts telling us to go get our prostates checked its time some one throws a flag on that joker. In short Sean's Husker Expert act has gotten very tired and old and is starting to grind.
