Didn't this one just do a full remodel in the past 5-6 years?

Re: Fast Food Restaurants Remodeling Everywhere.
If this is the one at 13th St and basicly I80 they got a remodel 5 or 6 years ago based on what I remember when I was working in that area. The guttend the place and put in the new style seating concept with tables, chairs, and benches that are meant to be "inviting" but forgot the "functional" part. maybe they are fixing this. They also redid the ordering counter and entrance area.Coyote wrote: Sat Feb 16, 2019 11:04 amThat was what I was thinking...skinzfan23 wrote: Sat Feb 16, 2019 10:54 amDidn't this one just do a full remodel in the past 5-6 years?

Re: Fast Food Restaurants Remodeling Everywhere.
The McDonald's on 114th and Dodge just finished yet another remodel. The building was built in 2009 and I am sure it had at least one remodel since it was built. It seemed like a "New" McDonald's before it was remodeled again.skinzfan23 wrote: Sat Feb 16, 2019 10:54 am Didn't this one just do a full remodel in the past 5-6 years?

I remember back in the early/mid 90’s Popeyes had a location a bit further east around 40th and L. I was disappointed it closed. Good to see them moving back into this area...Coyote wrote: Sat Apr 20, 2019 12:39 pm Popeye's at 54th & L is getting a $195k renovation.

The lobby of the Taco Bell at 70th and Dodge is closed for renovation, although the drive thru is still open. Interestingly, it seems to have improved the quality of the food!

There used to be a KFC around 43rd & L. It became a Popeye's when KFC built a new store at 48th & L. The building was torn down and there is a Sonic there now.Omaha Cowboy wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2019 11:41 amI remember back in the early/mid 90’s Popeyes had a location a bit further east around 40th and L. IIRC Fantasy's didn't have near as many hot food options as Casey's does, they probably need a bigger kitchen areaCoyote wrote: Wed Jul 10, 2019 9:41 pm Let's throw in a pizza place, the Casey's on N 90th (between Blondo and Maple) is getting a $220k remodel.

According to my neighbor, McDobalds on 84th and I80 was going to close at 10pm tonight. It would then be torn down and rebuilt.

Schlotsky's rebranded themselves back in April to better associate themselves with their Austin roots (and because Austin is cool now). They are now Schlotsky's Austin Eatery and intend to have all their stores remodeled by the end of the year to align with this rebranding. I'm assuming the two Omaha stores will follow suit.

This is a poorly written article. The restaurants with kiosks and a dining area still have a manned terminal at the counter to take cash. You order at the kiosk, get a cash ticket and complete the order at the cashier.
I suspect that this piece may actually be talking about a concept McDonald's is testing that's drive-thru and take out only.

The McDonald's on 48th between R and Vine here in Lincoln operates the same way. As does the recently remodeled one on Cornhusker between 48th and Havelock.jessep28 wrote: Wed Nov 13, 2019 4:18 pm This is a poorly written article. You can still order at the counter in fast food restaurants with kiosks, but my experience is that they no longer staff for it and are usually visibly annoyed when you walk up to the counter to order.
You don't want your job replaced by a machine then make a case for it. Acting annoyed that someone chose to order via human rather than machine isn't much of a case for keeping the humans around.

Not to tread on Grandpa Smuckers' territory, but who programs those kiosks? I'm guessing someone in a different demographic than I am or perhaps under orders from Higher Ups who don't ever use the kiosks themselves. Because I don't find most of them logical and that's why I stand and stare at them. I've worked with and am surrounded by computers and am tech savvy, but clearly cannot think like a kiosk programmer.

Re: Fast Food Restaurants Remodeling Everywhere.
The interface isn't very user friendly. I think if they had a page for most popular items, or at least popular meal packages, it would make usability a lot better. That way you can quickly choose a default order configuration and customize if needed.garyomaha wrote: Wed Dec 04, 2019 5:29 pm Not to tread on Grandpa Smuckers' territory, but who programs those kiosks? Don't tell our liberal friends that. It's the cornerstone of the $15/hr 'movement'. They're convinced that their constituents are planning on staying at entry-level jobs forever, hence their screeching about a 'living wage'.ThatGuy wrote: Fri Dec 06, 2019 1:27 pm

In 1977, I was under no illusion that my job at the Q-Twin Drive-In turning down speakers was going to sustain me until age 65.
