I think Arop due to what happened with his brother is a long shot for NU. I think Williams is much more likely will end up at Nebraska:

Don't know how I missed this. The timing is a little off. Thought it would most likely happen at the start of the summer:

Greg
Copeland and Palmer coming back made it a done deal that he would be riding bench most of the season again. No way he starts if he stays.

With Jordy T's late depature, NU adds some inside depth. Looks to be a good get for this late in the game:

I don't think so. Nebraska was picked to finish 4th in the B1G.
Unless you think the B1G can't put 4 teams in the top 25.

On paper the preseason ranking makes since.

Sitting in the area since 1999 watching Husker basketball at probably 90% of the home games in that stretch tells me that they need to prove it to me first. Only time will tell.

Picking them to finish 4th in the Big 10 might be optimistic. Great starting lineup, or at least 4, but little depth behind should something go wrong.

Yep.
Three months on the team. Before this news broke I had heard from some that in the open practice they had he was not good at best. I also guess he did not play at all in the "secret" Scrimmage with Iowa State. Was to be immediately available to play this year but looks like it must have need a swing and miss.

That confirms was I just heard as well, he had fallen behind both Borchardt (who just got a scholarship) and Brady Heiman on the depth chart.

First reg season for the Huskers last like just like many teams.

Beat Mississippi Valley State 106 - 37 and had a half time score of 55 - 13

Guessing the competition will get tougher! :;):

Yeah we will face much tougher teams. That being said we've gotten tripped up by some really bad teams recently (Incarnate Word and others), so I don't take anything for granted. Nice to see we'd hit some 3's. Had not done so in the exhibitions.

This was not just a bad team though they were really bad. The second half was just boring. The crowd was dead after half time. I am not one to typically leave early but I left with about 9 Min left.

Look at the box score, esp for the first half. Can set aside the second half because the Huskers starters were on the bench much of the time after the first 4 Min. No Husker played over 23 Min for the game.

The 13 Pt that MVS scored in the first half was bad but it gets worse when you look that 7 of those were from the line. For the first half they shot a blazing 9.4 % from the field.

I have seen the Huskers loose some really bad games and look less than staler in some wins against bad opponents for sure but I think some area high school teams could have done better than what I watched Tue night. Out of curiosity I will probably check a few times during the season to see how MVS is doing but I don't expect it will be much unless the Huskers are headed for the final four!!!!!!

The first game of the year was on ESPNU today and it was painful to watch. NE 87 Southeast Louisiana 35. Even though Nebraska destroyed SE Louisiana I still did not think Nebraska looked that good. You can't jump to any conclusions from just watching the first game but it sure looked like what ever was wrong with Nebraska last season still is. I thought they were going to look better then that this year but I think I was wrong. Still to early to know for sure. On a positive note Roby looks like hes gotten better.

It was the first game that was on TV unless you are not going to count being on ESPNU as really being on TV.......and I could see that.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn’t you come out with a similar dire prediction last year after watching a single game? If memory serves you predicted they’d be lucky to win 10 games I believe.

At the risk of derailing the thread has anyone noticed the new court at Minnesota? I for one think it is terrible. A court just does not look right when it is basically white. Saw it on some B1G basketball highlights and had to go looking for some photos.

Greg
Yes I did have a dire prediction at the start of the last season and even though I got the number of wins wrong for the most part I was right. You can not argue the fact that Nebraska did not make it to the big dance and they even were one and done in the big 10 Tournament and the NIT.

I am not making the same dire prediction for Nebraska this year yet! However I was expecting Copeland and Palmer to come back this season looking better then ever and I did not see that in the game Sunday. Roby looked better then ever but Copeland and Palmer did not look sharp at all. I also thought the coaching in Sunday's game by Miles was questionable as well. It was obvious that the starters were not gelling and they should of been given more playing time as a unit to work out the rough edges but instead MIles was sending in subs right and left even in the first quarter. I am not ready to make a start of the season prediction yet but I have to say my first impression so far is this team does not look like the much improved team we thought it was going to be. Unfortunately it looks like more of the same team we saw last season.

First game for the Huskers tonight should be a better test ( First game since it is the first of the season to be on the B1G network)
Not the Seton Hall of a couple of years ago. Saw the Huskers are favored by 9 by one of the odds makers.

Miles says he will be shortening his rotation for this game. We will know a bit more about the circa 2018/19 version of the Huskers after tonight. One national guy I heard on the radio last night said he would not be surprised to see the Huskers roll to a big win. They will have to show me that is possible so not buying into that.

One thing I have remembered about Minnesota's arena dating back to Nee taking teams there, the raised floor. I'd be nervous about going fast and running out of room.

I'd like to see this in person. My first thought was since Minnesota is "the state of hockey" it could be a nod to ice? But I am a long time hockey guy. :)

Kinda what I thought, too, when seeing the court. Looks like a sheet of ice.

Sure did. Late arriving crowed. but filled up nicely. Got rocken after the 5 Min officials delay to look at replays all after the bogus moving screen call and the T on the Husker coaches.

Overall both teams played a little nervous to start the game but the Huskers took over for the most part Nice win for sure. Seton Hall will end up having a decent season. They have some young guys that are and will be good.

This is not going to be a good season for Seton Hall. Seton Hall's game is not just a little off its a lot off. Seton Hall had the will to compete in this game but not the skill. Nebraska was never really challenged in this game at all by this team we all remember as once being a pretty good team. About all you can say good about Seton Hall is they have some tall players who could be in the NBA someday if they ever learn how to shoot the ball.

Yeah a 6:30 game is tough to make when so many of the fans come from outside Lincoln. I still like it better than the 8PM weeknight games. Crowd sounded good on TV. I thought Brady Heiman looked good.

Did you go?

Yeah a 6:30 game is tough to make when so many of the fans come from outside Lincoln. I still like it better than the 8PM weeknight games. Crowd sounded good on TV. I thought Brady Heiman looked good.

Greg

Crowd got there but not early. The Haymarket was not as packed before the game either.

That being said this is 10000% better than an 8:00 PM local start for the local fans. Esp those like me that drive a ways after the game.
For the record  NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER    !!!!!!!

All 3 Big 10 teams won by more than 20 that night. The biggest shocker for me was Michigan totally dismantling Villanova, at Villanova's on campus arena.

NU takes the show on the road tonight. Really wish I could have made the trip. Could be a small local crowd with the Chiefs playing a big game on Monday Night football.

NCAA has granted a first time ever waiver for teams to use ShotTracker tech in real time:
