Coke or Pepsi

Post by mrsticka »

Restaurants that sell Coke:

McDonald's
Burger King
Wendy's
Dairy Queen
Popeye's
Subway
Raising Cane's

Restaurants that sell Pepsi:

Arby's
KFC
Taco Bell
Taco John's
Amigo's
Long John Silver's

Restaurants that used to sell Pepsi but now sell Coke:

Burger King back in the 80's
Wendy's until 2010

Restaurants that used to sell Coke but now sell Pepsi? I know there are some. But I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Couple More Coke off the top of my head

Pepsi does bulk market contracts with the main company and all customers of the company have to take Pepsi no matter what. They also stick franchisees with this deal. They did this with a company that caters hospitals (Marriott nee Sudexo) and we all have to drink Pepsi. Should see the number of people who work there and smuggle in cases of Diet Coke.

Arby's sells Coke products now. As does the Dairy Queen on 114th and Dodge.

Well, Arby's used to have Pepsi. I haven't been there in a while. So I guess I'll have to see how their Coke tastes. And the Dairy Queen on North 48th here in Lincoln has sold Coke for as long as I can remember.

Here's one for you mrsticka....

TD Amertirade Park Omaha sells Pepsi, but the NCAA is sponsored by Coke... So during the CWS, the concession stands all serve Pepsi, but all the Media Areas, Press Box, Work Rooms, Etc all have Coke products.

Something that surprised me when I I got here was how many places offer Dr Pepper, whether they sell Coke or Pepsi. It was certainly not like that in Denver.

Not to derail but that is as crazy as Pinnacle Bank Arena having First National Bank on the floor, and scoreboards for Husker basketball. I know this was all known as part of the bidding rights for the naming but I still think it is strange.

There was light marketing about the change, but Arby's switched to Coke earlier this year.

Yum! Brands used to be a Pepsi subsidiary so that's why Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut offer that soft drink.

Your smaller restaurants usually just choose a vendor they can't work with and get a better price.

I was actually in a small restaurant in a small town in south dakota about a month ago and they had pepsin products on 'tap' and coke precuts in bottles/cans.

Dr. Pepper's bottling and distribution network is confusing. The area Coca-Cola bottler for Lincoln and York distributes Dr. Pepper products.

Although most people prefer one or other, why not offer both? Why do Pepsi and Coke only do exclusive deals with retailers? The equipment for each brand takes up space I realize, but not that much space.

I like both, with only a slight preference for Pepsi. Coke is available at work, but I drink Pepsi at home.

The question wasn't about the food.
Pepsi would not lure me to McDonald's. The experience would still suck.

Is that better?

In some cases, Pepsi or Coke are providing the soda fountain, the ones with the touch screen. While you get more variety, it keeps someone from selling the competition.

The Wendy's and Dairy Queens here in Lincoln have those touch screen soda fountains. But it makes the drinks taste kind of funny. Whenever I get a Coke from them, it tastes kind of orangey.

I went to Arby's a few weeks ago and had their Coke. It's not bad. Although, I'll admit sometimes I wish they still had Pepsi.

I agree about the "Suicide Machines" that Wendy's and Arby's use. Product tastes funny.

I think a lot of the problem with those Freestyle machines is that you get enough bleedover from the previous person's choice to make the drink taste funny.

Agreed. I always let the spout run for a few seconds before I put my cup under it.

I think the main #1 problem with the freestyle machines is that too many of the people in this country have the minds of a child. They sit and stare and deliberate on what they should select...... Or they can not make the buttons work......These simple minded self centered dolts are oblivious to the poor guy standing behind them waiting. I know of a number of restaurants who had to take these machines out for exactly the reasons I mentioned here.

Okay, since we're (sort of) on the subject...

It appears to me that many, if not most, of the soda fountains in places around here do not offer Coke Zero, and I really like it. Even if there are plenty of spouts and sometimes multiple spouts for Coke itself. Meanwhile, other places (I'll specifically point out Arby's since I go there regularly) have dedicated Coke Zero spouts. What drives this? And, no, Coke Zero is not the same as Diet Coke...at least not to my tastebuds.

Coke Zero is European Diet Coke. Tastes different. Look for those coke dispensers that have all the flavor Add ins. They usually have it.

Coke zero has a different artificial sweetener.

Thanks, but that doesn't work for one big and one little reason. The big reason is, I go to eat where I want to eat, not necessarily who has what soft drink. I can live with Diet Pepsi and, if I must, Diet Coke. I was just asking because I don't understand why Coke Zero isn't on more non-Freestyle dispensers. The little reason is, I'm one of those who tastes all the chemicals in the Freestyle dispenser and I really prefer straight fountain pop. (Yeah, I'm also one of those who tastes the soapy flavor in cilantro.)

Yeah, but for some godforsaken reason they don't have pomegranate hibiscus flavored diet Mountain Dew. That just sends me into a frenzy of despair; I mean, jeez.
