The story did raise my eyebrows though...

Ciao..LiO...Peace
If they did offer, by golly couldn't they have gone to at least $200k?!

I question Creighton's commitment to Basketball
The $100K was visible, the other $200K would likely have been the "lucrative job offer"?
Don’t forget the free vehicle and the traveling omelette chef...

Ciao..LiO...Peace
Bottom line, they didn't offer enough. Time for Mac and Ras to go.
Dang. C’ya fella’s...

Ciao..LiO...Peace
Go Cowboys!

I don't know about you but it sure seemed to me like the local newspaper today was getting us prepared for the fact that Creighton is almost certainly going to have to answer for cheating. After reading the article I have to say I agree. Creighton is now on a runaway train to probation and bans form post season play. Whats weird is Dana Altman at Oregon is in trouble with the same crowd. That leads one to jump to the obvious assumption that Creighton may have been cheating for a long time.

Yes, for a long time, clearly. Who could forget all of the high profile recruits they have brought in using these dirty tactics in recent memory....like....er.... two kids from Omaha, a kid from Pella, Iowa, and the Coach's son.

Lets hope you are right.......but that Father testifying in Federal Court last Thursday that Creighton was offering 100,000 dollars to him is going to be a tough hurdle for Creighton to get past.

I believe the father was testifying that an agent told him Creigton had offered that.

No matter what really happened it is not good that the Jays are drun into this. Even if they are 100% in the clear it can be used against them.

On a lighter note, I am glad so far that the Huskers have not been pulled into this. If they are they sure have not gotten their money's worth!

You got to hand it to Sportswriter Tom Shatel on his latest column. He starts out by saying how he knows the coach and the A.D. and he trusts them. Then he goes on and tells the cold hard truth which is Creighton most certainly has been caught with its hand in the cookie jar. I think Shatel got it right on this one and this is how it went down. Like Shatel says these guys are caught but there is no hard evidence because these guys are pros and they don't leave a trail that can be followed. More testimony in that case is scheduled for today. Unless the agent gives up Creighton I think they are going to get off lightly. If the FBI can get the agent to testify against Creighton then its going to hit the fan.

Heard a rumor that the Big 12/Big East is going to have a challenge that starts next season. This would be great for both leagues.

ESPN report details calls between Creighton coach, staff, ex-player to agent convicted in college hoops scandal

Coach Greg McDermott, assistant Preston Murphy and former CU star Justin Patton were all named in the story. Call logs reportedly show that they were in regular communication with Dawkins from May 3, 2017, to July 2, 2017.

Not huge news, but Creighton did manage to pull out a 44 pt win in the exhibition game on Saturday over Winona St. This same team only lost to Loyola (a Sweet 16 team last year) by 30 a few nights ago.

........and then you got the FACT that the FBI had the agents phone tapped for 3 or 4 months and they have taped calls between Creighton's staff and even Patton. About the only way to sell the story that those tape recordings are Fake News is to take a page from Trump's play book and hire some slickster ex mayor/lawyer to look people right in the eye and tell them that what they hear on those tapes is not what they hear. Since Rudolph Giuliani is busy on Trump's case I guess that would leave Hal Daub next in line for the position. :;):

Be curious to know what those calls indicate from their recordings, and why the FBI investigation never pursued them for the case.

There it is was on this morning's front page of the Sports section. Tim Miles calling for the NCAA to crack some skulls and making veiled hints towards Creighton. At least thats the way I read it. Turns out others saw it the same way. This article just came out and will be in tomorrows paper.

The most interesting quote from the World Herald article:
“You know when you’re dancing with the devil.”
It’s true, isn’t it. You know it in business, you know it in politics, you know it in personal relationships. Heck, you know it when a telemarketer calls and asks for your social security number. So here’s the question I have: How did Greg McDermott not know?"

Things are heating up- https://www.omaha.com/creighton/plus/ma ... 86645.html

Timmy probably shouldn't be throwing stones when he has an addidas program who is the dirtiest of all the shoe companies.

I am sure Miles beating out some good mid majors for his recruits didn't come naturally.

And yet UNL was never implicated. So what you are saying is objective.

Timmah is probably clean, but instead of throwing thinly veiled clickbait quotes for the paper, he should focus on actually winning.

I will laugh if there is an investigation and it turns up nothing on Creighton. When you're recruiting a kid, you're going to be in contact with their people, unfortunately many of these top flight prospects have shady handlers who coordinate with the families in the recruitment process, and coaches talk with them like it or not.

All the spazzy articles to clickbait, yet there isn't even proof that there was actual wrongdoing yet.

Big East Basketball Coaches Rank the Best Jobs in the Conference

Image
6. Creighton (43) – Joined the league in 2013 from the Missouri Valley – where the Bluejays were a member from nearly three decades. Creighton has been in the NCAA tourney 20 times – and have fared better than many expected in the Big East after losing Doug McDermott. But facilities and support are two factors that make sure it’s in the middle of the Big East, even after stepping it up from the Valley.

Where they win: “Fan support. They pack the building with 17,000 every single night. The facilities are top notch, and the fans travel.” – Big East assistant coach

The knock: “Location makes it tough. Just not a lot of players in the state, and the area, certainly compared to all the other schools in the league.” – Big East head coach

Ouch that is bad. They lost at home by 13. I knew this was going to be a down year, but they may have a season like Creighton did in 2014/15 when they finished 14-19.

And a top 150 player according to 247Sports if I saw correctly?
He signed his letter of intent this morning. Welcome Shereef, hopefully another local kid that excels at Creighton!

All 12 games of the Cayman Islands Classic will be broadcast by Stadium, which can be viewed at http://watchstadium.com/live or via the Stadium app.

Creighton's 68-game streak of televised games will come to an end at the Cayman Islands Classic, as none of the games will be televised.

Creighton's last non-televised tilt was its 103-77 victory over Washington State in the opening round of the Paradise Jam. CU went on to win that event after following it up with televised victories over North Carolina State (112-94) and Ole Miss (86-77).

I went to the website and it says that locally it can viewed over-the-air on KXVODT4 15.4. Not sure if I that is through cable or if I need to just hook up the antenna, but I prefer to watch on tv instead of my computer.

Anyone know?

It was mentioned earlier this season that they never were going to redshirt him. He didn't want to redshirt. I think he can be a solid contributor to the team.

What a great win for the Jays. Ballock finally got his shot going and the Jays were firing well in the 1st half.

Agreed. It’s early in the year and CU is a young team searching for their consistent identity..

Winning these last 2 games is a positive 1st step.. Now i’m Looking for them to complete against a good Clemson Tigers team.. I need to see a team mental toughness develop which frankly, the past 2 seasons, this team has sorely lacked...

I agree, of course, I would like a win tonight vs Clemson, but the main thing is to see them compete, similar to how they did against Ohio St. The important thing will be to not have the lapses that they did last week and give up a 13-0 run to end the game.

Agreed. This is a good, very good Clemson team. If they can at least keep it close and exciting, I will be a happy camper.
