The Sooners are just outside the top 25, so this is the last big non-conference resume-builder. If the Jays can pull off the upset and win on Thursday as well, there is a chance they might be ranked next week.
I doubt even with those wins that Creighton would be ranked, unless there is serious help with other teams above them losing.

I don't see them beating Oklahoma, and hope they just keep it close.

If anyone would like to go to a Creighton game for free let me know. They sent an email to season ticket holders and I can get up to 4 free tickets for each of the next 2 Thursday games (Dec 20th vs Coe College and Dec 27th vs UMKC). I would be able to send you a text message with the tickets and transfer them that way if you want.

Wow, Creighton is terrible in the first half. They started 0-12 from 3....they aren't going to win many games when they shoot like that.

The Jays cut it to 7 but Ballock can't hit anything tonight. If he would have made his 3, it would have been a 4 point game, instead Oklahoma stretched it back to 11.

Yep. Oklahoma looks average, but Creighton has looked miserable.

The one bright spot tonight was Krampelj recording his first double-double of the season with 19 and 10.

The Jays missed 23 of their 30 3-pointers and had 18 turnovers.

No probably not, but as I mentioned to others, I would rather have this than a schedule like Iowa's where they schedule 4-5 teams each year with sub-300 RPI's. Those do nothing for your fan base and even hurt your strength of schedule.

Yeah I wish they would occasionally put UNO on their schedule for a regular season game instead of a team like this. It would be more interesting.

No disagreement there.

I do not follow the Jays scheduling. Did they have someone back out or was this in the plan all along for this season.

For the past two years they have scheduled a, for lack of a better word, exhibition style game around this time. It's nothing but a tune up, afraid I don't see what's to get so worked up about. UNO would replace a team like Green Bay on the schedule, not this one.

Who do you see as getting worked up? Sorry to state an opinion or thought. Guess that is not what this is for.

No matter what the team these games are not necessary. (IMO)

Apparently you are, judging by the need to even care about Creighton basketball's, a team you aren't even a fan of, midseason scrimmage and emphatically (exclamation points ahoy indicate excitement?) wanting them to play UNO instead?

These games give, albeit not great competition, game experience without risk of RPI harm. So, for a young team in some desperate need of any experience it can get, McDermott felt it is needed/wanted.

Last year, the game was added right before the schedule came out to fill a 10 day void in the conference schedule. I am not sure why this one was scheduled, but they did mention that Mac's godson played on Coe.

It was actually pretty humorous, they brought at least 20 players with them. From what I understand, at this level, they also have a JV team as well. Either way, what a great experience for those kids.

Boy you are off base. It is nothing to hide that I am a Husker fan. I also watch the Jays as much as I can but would consider myself a follower not a fan. Looks to me like maybe you are a little defensive here. It is a local team so I do care. I think if you search through the years I have stated in general that this state is too small to not have the desire to see both schools win in the sports they are booth in. I will pull for the Huskers over the Jays every time but like to see the Jays win. IF a fan can only be a fan of one and has to hate the other, so be it. That is not me.

If the Huskers played a Div 3 team I would look at that in the same way. Heck the Huskers have played some Div 2 teams they shouldn't have and lost in spite of it too.

SO, you need to stop getting worked up I guess.

Not being defensive in the slightest, just confused what the big deal about a midseason scrimmage is, and why the Jays need to play the Mavericks instead? Why does it really matter to you? Why proclaim "this game didn't need to happen" when it's clearly just another way for a young team to practice with game experience, plus have a chance to do something fun for Coe? You've never really answered this, and now you're calling me defensive, just call me confused.

it's all very strange. I have never seen quite a reaction like that to a silly, what amounts to nothing more than a scrimmage. Enjoy the weekend and try not to overthink your second favorite basketball team's silly game against Division 3 Coe.

Greg

It doesn't impact RPI/whatever they're using now since it's a D3 team, so for all intents and purposes, yes. Last year's Bemidji state game was the same. Unless I am misstaken.

Yeah 15 TO's and only 25% from 3's. Also another crappy FT% shooting day. Hopefully they come out with more energy on Wednesday @ home vs Marquette or they will get blown out.

Not the worst news, he is eligible for a medical redshirt, so if that gets approved, he would have 3 years of eligibility left. Its not like he provided much of a boost this year anyway.

That was a pathetic end to regulation. Something needs to change, it's a young team and all but this is 3 times now they have blown double digit leads.

This was an unforgivable CHOKE JOB by the Jays tonight. .08 seconds left and you have a 3 point lead and the ball to inbound..and YOU LOSE?????????

Coaches get fired at the end of seasons for losses AT HOME like this..

Utterly pathetic...

I can forget and move on from things usually pretty easily, but this loss just blew my mind. This was just bad, very bad. This is on McDermott.
