Pretty sure it's going in on the west end, in the old Hollywood Video space.

I stopped by the new location near 156th and Dodge. The liquor license permit request is hanging up on the glass, and construction is well underway. I'm no construction expert, but it looks like it could be open by New Years. I suppose the kitchen permits will be the holdup (like Flagship Commons). HOPEFULLY they are able to build a patio on the west end of the building.

They had a soft opening this week. I drove by in the evening and there were many people inside. They do not have their sign up yet on the building.

At the Friends and Family now. The space looks great by west Omaha strip mall standards, they did a nice job. 40 taps. Should be a nice addition to an area that could use a shot of life.

I stopped in last night after work for a burger and of course a couple of beers. Nice layout and good choice of beers and burger styles. It was pretty busy but the wait for most people wasn't very long.

Tap houses are only allowed to have 32 ounces and you must buy the growler from them and have their logo on it. Breweries can have 64 ounces.

I hope Omaha tap house does Crowlers instead because they stay a lot fresher.

They’ll be Crowlers from what I understand..and Brian, who manages the Pepperwood location, told me last Saturday they’re trying to get approval for filling a 16oz Crowler, in addition to 32oz...

I don't think there's such a thing as a 16oz Crowler. 32 and 25.4 oz (750mL) are the only two sizes I see on their website. I assume both are the same height, just smaller diameter.

It may not be considered a crowler, but he told me 16 oz. Likely a can for fills..

It’ll be interesting to see if that works out...

The Omaha Tap House Pepperwood just announced on their Facebook page, they’re now filling 19.2oz and 8oz Crowlers..

I like the 8oz size.. Especially for barrel aged Imperial Stouts and some big Double IPA’s...

The Pepperwood Tap House location has just started using Beef Tallow to cook their French Fries and Tater Tots..

Man, you can taste the difference. Went there for dinner last night and it reminded me of when McDonald’s used to use Beef Tallow to cook their Fries..back when they were actually good when I was a kid..

Definitely worth trying the Fries and Tots cooked in beef tallow at the Pepperwood location. Delicious and much healthier than the seed oils most everyone else uses today…

Idk about healthier, but I remember the old school McD's fries and how they tasted. Imma have to go evaluate these tots for science.

It’s all relative, but there is recent medical research which shows using beef tallow is far more healthier than frying in those seed oils..but I wouldn’t green light eating fries and tots on a daily (or weekly) basis anyway, lol..

But, for science, I tried both the fries and tots, made with the tallow. Absolutely fabulous. Just like I remembered when I was a kid..

Very much worth your very own evaluation for science my friend…

I like the Taphouse and it's close proximity to my home, but we don't go all that often even though the food has been good.

I hate that the country has programmed me to think this way, but the use of beef tallow seems more political than anything in a way to influence more people to come to the restaraunt similar to Steak n Shake.

I would still consider beef tallow as unhealthier than the unhealthy seed oils and for my with cholesterol troubles and family history of heart disease, I take it a little more seriously.
https://hsph.harvard.edu/news/beef-tall ... seed-oils/

This coming from someone that uses beef tallow when I smoke a whole brisket once a year or will use bacon fat for cooking from time to time. It's better tasting, but it's higher in saturated fat which will increase LDL.

I think this choice also makes it a little more aggressively unfriendly to vegans and vegetarians with limited options already.

So I guess what I'm saying is that this is a last ditch effort to stir up more business and the Taphouse probably won't be open in another two years.

I thought this was a pretty good rundown on seed oils in the current social media seed oil panic in which we're living:

It’s actually costing Tap House more money to switch to tallow from the seed oils..from what I was told..

I’ll take the bet that Pepperwood Tap House will still be around 2 years from now and beyond..The place always does good business…

lol yeah, no doubt I'm grasping at straws. It's kind of like the kerfuffle with Cracker Barrel recently on a much smaller scale with Taphouse. Cracker Barrel rebranding was a publicity stunt more than anything. This seems to be in the same manner to gain business during crappy economic times.
