Re: Official: Aksarben Village
Now if they would only do something with the East end of the garage so their Aksarben Village neighbors to the East don't have to look at their ugly garage. I know eventually the S and N sides will be hidden by apartment buildings, etc. but the East end of the garage is basically at the sidewalk so nothing will be built between it and the street.

Are you sure that is the ground breaking? Looks more like a sprinkler line repair or fiber optics.

I saw that today, I thought the were extending a power line from that light so they could put a spot light out to illumine the sign at night. Should have asked.

It is S of the Cue apartments & is on the E side of the garage that is in the Spirit World block. It is across the street from Broadmoor’s original apt. buildings.

Re: Official: Aksarben Village
I am very curious as to 1) where they will put their construction equipment, materials, etc. 2) how big these will really be as their plans to the Planning Dept showed parallel parking as well as a driving lane between the bldg & the garage and finally, 3) how much they hope to sell them for. I know the plans I saw had dimensions of the bldg but I am a bit size challenged when reading blueprints, etc. I have to see it actually laid out.

I can't imagine they would be less than $280k (Just my wild guess based on previous prices)hatwate wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 3:37 pm I am very curious as to 1) where they will put their construction equipment, materials, etc. 2) how big these will really be as their plans to the Planning Dept showed parallel parking as well as a driving lane between the bldg & the garage and finally, 3) how much they hope to sell them for. Re: Official: Aksarben Village
If you look at the plans submitted for the condo's, total cost for the project is a tad over $3 million. So, these will be likely be $500k+ like the condos being built near 49th and Dodge on the southside.ScrattyB wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 4:22 pmI can't imagine they would be less than $280k (Just my wild guess based on previous prices)hatwate wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 3:37 pm I am very curious as to 1) where they will put their construction equipment, materials, etc. 2) how big these will really be as their plans to the Planning Dept showed parallel parking as well as a driving lane between the bldg & the garage and finally, 3) how much they hope to sell them for. We are sort of used to it by now. We have been missing all the HDR construction activity. It is what happens when you’re one of the early residents.Coyote wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 4:34 pm As I drove by today I was thinking the same things, where will the stage everything, if not for the Zone 6 yard. It was Miller Electric putting in wiring for the new signs that will tell you how many parking stalls are available, as I mentioned before, a system they are installing in the 4 Village garages.hatwate wrote: Fri May 10, 2019 4:30 pmSorry, not a groundbreaking but that is an excavation company which we think is doing some prep workskinzfan23 wrote: Fri May 10, 2019 3:32 pm Are you sure that is the ground breaking? LUV!
I can get pushed out because I'm "too much" for some. Then, an observer of me comes suddenly swooping in to "fill my shoes." People are always more accepting of the new one, because their feathers aren't truly ruffled by them. (Yawn) I can count on it every time.

Looks like all the plastic bags that you get at retail places blowing around in the wind.Coyote wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 4:26 pmLeaves that look like surfboardsskinzfan23 wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 3:01 pm I saw them installing the boards today. Are they actual surf boards?

On a different front, I have heard a large amount of complaints about the new scooters in AV. First, the riders are not adhering to safe driving practices on the streets. They do not stop at stop signs. They weave in and out of areas. They ride on the sidewalk. Second, it's just a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured for not wearing a helmet.

I was at AV yesterday. I actually really like the art installments. It really pops. Also, I think my favorite view of this development is from the kid's playground looking north. It feels really dense from that vantage point.nebugeater wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 5:26 pmLooks like all the plastic bags that you get at retail places blowing around in the wind.Coyote wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 4:26 pmLeaves that look like surfboardsskinzfan23 wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 3:01 pm I saw them installing the boards today. I wonder what a 60 mph wind gust will do to those "leaves" ?nebugeater wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 5:26 pmLooks like all the plastic bags that you get at retail places blowing around in the wind.Coyote wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 4:26 pmLeaves that look like surfboardsskinzfan23 wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 3:01 pm I saw them installing the boards today. I met the artist who created these today, and he showed me how they were being attached to the garage and it looks like they are pretty sound. His studio is on 20th & Leavenworth and he said there will be 31 leaves installed.

Surely there is some engineering review required for this "art" ?Coyote wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2019 8:42 pm I met the artist who created these today, and he showed me how they were being attached to the garage and it looks like they are pretty sound.
