I would expect the "leaves" to tear-away near their mountings in high wind ... unless the "leaves" are full of holes (to reduce wind resistance) that can't be seen at a distance.

Surely there is some engineering review required for this "art" ?
I'm sure the structural engineers on the project absolutely loved having to do the calculations to make sure those would be safe to add to the facade.

Yeah I'm sure people I don't know hate doing anything slightly out of the ordinary in their jobs. The nerve of these artists to put brightly colored decorations on our grey walls.

The leaves are secured with bolts and steel cables. If the bolts fail, the cables will catch them (hopefully).

Order in the court! (Lol. I'm the last person that is justified saying that here...lol)

Believe me, any great public or private art Omaha can get, or great architecture, Omaha can take. Nebraska's largest shouldnt be shy about jazzing itself up, imo.

You dont want to overdo it on the public art either, though. I almost feel Downtown Des Moines has about reached that line.

I happen to like those leaves. :)
I can get pushed out because I'm "too much" for some. Then, an observer of me comes suddenly swooping in to "fill my shoes." People are always more accepting of the new one, because their feathers aren't truly ruffled by them. (Yawn) I can count on it every time.

I know there is a lululemon store at Village Pointe.. So pretty good “get” for AK Village..

As to how cheaply made their merchandise is, you’d probably need a ladies opinion as probably 80% of their sales are women in the age group from 16 to 35.. And the stuff there is expensive.. So cheap usually does not compute as it relates to popularity and price..

According to most young ladies I know (family and otherwise) they LOVE their products...

Women's clothing is usually more cheaply made than menswear. The reason being that, typically, a woman buys a piece for a year or two while a man likes to wear something for a decade or more. These are broad brush generalizations, but they hold pretty true. As I understand it, Lululemon sells athletic wear, so it would make sense for it to be better made so that it can hold up, so typically this would be a recipe for disaster, in most cases people like to get what they pay for. Apparel marketing and pricing is unlike most other products though. Because of the ways that clothing can signal status, something being expensive can be a point in its favor (this is sometimes called a Veblen good). It's more common in women's clothing, but it does happen in menswear too, especially in tailored clothes. Anyhow, I look forward to seeing how something that sells well at Village Pointe will do at Aksarben Village. Sometimes I think we overstate the differences between east of 72nd St Omaha and West O, how Lululemon does at AV will tell us a little about that.

Don’t know if this has anything to do with their guarantee but in 2012 they had a scandal as one of their yoga pants would appear to be see thru. They had to recall all of them.

Not just women's clothes guys. I have a few of their items for running, it is worlds better than the Nike or Under Armor shirts and I couldn't ever go back to a run in a normal cotton t shirt. Comfortable, light weight, doesn't stink, has held its color and shape for years for my oldest stuff. It is pricey, but they have markdowns sometimes and I am very happy with the product.

It is just a really nice feather for A/V retail. It is a brand that has loyal customers that will draw people to Aksarben from basically the eastern half of the metro.

That’s one thing I understand ladies need to be aware of when they buy leggings. Especially in lighter colors. You usually have to pay for quality, and I know the lululemon leggings products are their #1 seller...

They have now moved Ribstock from the parking lot of the Super Saver grocery store in Millard to Aksarben Village next Saturday. That Super Saver is such a slum I can see why they would want to get it out of there. On the other hand this was a Millard home grown event so I don't know if the people will follow it down to Aksarben. It will be interesting to see if this takes off at Aksarben or is the last year!

We love ribs. But...I took a look at the Ribstock website and out of the 12 joints listed, we've heard of and have tried only two of them! It says it's Omaha's premiere BBQ vendors, so maybe we need to get out more (or those places need to advertise more). Perhaps that's what Ribstock is for!

I had heard of 2 of them. Looked up several others and most were food trucks. Wayne’s is on Center St. E of Gorats

Apparently a common thing for them.

https://journalstar.com/business/local/ ... a5575.html
Officials for Lululemon, which has a store at Village Pointe in Omaha, told analysts earlier this year that the company is working with four types of stores — temporary, pop-up stores; 3,000-square-foot stores; 5,500-square-foot stores; and massive 25,000-square-foot versions such as the one that opened in Chicago this month.

According to a CNBC report, Lululemon often looks to sign short-term leases — three to six months — that allow it to test new markets or capitalize on foot traffic near universities.

The company said it had 60 so-called seasonal stores in 2018, including one near the University of Kansas.
