Freedom Rock & Patriotic Murals

Today is Veterans Day, Friday November 11. One way to honor all to veterans is visit the Freedom Rock in Iowa. It is one mile south of Iowa I-80 exit 86 / Greenfield exit on Highway 25.

I visited the Freedom Rock a week from Wednesday, November 2. Here is my best images of the rock

Every year since 1999, for Memorial Day, a young man from Greenfield, Ray (Bubba) Sorensen II paints a new “wrap around” mural on the Freedom Rock to honor the Veterans

Also he paints Patriotic murals in the Greenfield area.

“Veterans Memorial Wall” at Casey, IA’s Veteran’s Memorial Park.

The “Patriotic Murals” in the veterans Room at the Old Hotel Restaurant, Greenfield, IA

I have heard of and seen pictures of this place for a few years now but have never visited it.

Yeah I know, I read the news.

I'm not too upset actually as I sort of hate fox and now I can not feel as conflicted about it.

Swift, Coyote You are not honoring a veteran by making fun of or call other forum members names, but the veteran did fight in various wars so you can have this freedom.

Take a minute and think about all the freedoms the veteran fought for. For instance, the freedom we have without government interference or control. No countries beside the United States has these freedoms..

The Freedom Rock and the Patriotic Murals in the pictures posted is express freedom we enjoyed. Thanks to the Veteran.

Where or when did I make fun of another forum member?
Where or when did I dis any veteran?

From what I have read, there has been no 'unhonoring' of any veterans or forum members here..

Lets squash this angle of discussion now or this thread will be locked..

I wasn't making fun of vetrans, I was making fun of the rock!

But in all seriousness, I do appreciate everything my countrymen have done.

On a side note, I think those are very good paintings as well.

I exaggerate little but I make a point about honoring a veteran and freedom for which they fought.

I did expect someone to make fun of the rock. But it was done in good Taste.

On Monday, November 20th - 9 days after Veterans Day, I return to central Iowa to photography the 2006 version of Freedom Rock...
(One mile south of Iowa I-80 exit 86)

...and the Greenfield Iowa's Sesquicentennial Murals.

The Rock and Mural were painted by Ray (Bubba) Sorensen II
