Well, I predicted 34-30. The final ended up being 34-31. Except CU wins in OT..

A classic tale of 2 half’s. NU dominates in the 1st half.. on both sides of the ball. Then fails the same way in the 2nd half. Credit Colorado and their coaching staff for making excellent adjustments at halftime. Frost and his staff were out coached in the 2nd half..

I expected a hard fought, close game..and that’s exactly what we got..

2 games in and 1-1. The team building continues..

We’ll see what kind of team the Huskers evolve to once we get about 6 games in..

Congrats to Colorado...

I am old enough to remember when NU never seemed capable of losing an overtime game.
Of course I’m also old enough to remember when the NU football team was good enough to warrant following. I think it was almost a quarter century (and countless couching changes) ago.

That was an epic collapse to a coach who was coaching his second game ever I believe. We Take What We Want Bo Knows Defense Hip Hip Hooray Frost Warning indeed. Eventually Nebraska will find its "Bob Stoops" so's to speak.

The good news is that Basketball is only a few months away and Nebraska should be decent again in that with finally a good coach. Also, Volleyball is going on and they look fantastic. Plenty of outlets for your Red fandom.

Nebraska should of won that game. Nebraska is winning by 17 points in the middle of the 3rd quarter and instead of calling run plays and running clock they are out there passing 75% of the time and stopping the clock. That is on the coaches there. Colorado knew what they were doing when they hired their new coach. The credentials of Colorado's new head coach that they flashed up on the screen are 2nd to none. Nebraska's defense was pretty frazzled by the end of the game. The Colorado flea flicker out of the end zone for a touchdown was when you knew the game had morphed into the crazy zone where who knew who was going to win. That was a good thing for me because up until then the chances of me winning my bet were slim. Once the game devolved into a free for all I suddenly had a 50/50 chance of winning. I almost lost. Nebraska did. I think I should thank Frost though because I could of never won that bet if he had been killing the clock right.

I think it's safe to say Nebraska will no longer be ranked after today.

I questioned NU's quick scoring drives in the 4th quarter with that much time on the clock. At least the third quarter was boring and I was able to get a nap in without missing anything.

Two turnovers led to 10 Colorado points.

Its so disappointing to watch a 17 point lead dissolve play by play.

The defense was sucking air at the end if the game. Just one more sustained drive could have been the difference.

This can still be a good team. I have a little better idea of what to expect with this team. I now expect a 3-1 start. But things could get ugly in conference play.

College football is still a |expletive| chute.

The NU coaches need to learn to make adjustments. Colorado did a great job making adjustments from the first half to second half

What a horrible loss. I will be happy if we can win 6 games this year. It’s very important that we win at least 6, anything less would be a disastrous year. Martinez played better today. And if it wasn’t for him and Washington we would’ve lost by more.

But Nebraska’s inability to do anything offensively in the 3rd quarter gave the buffs hope, as we could of put the game away going up 24-0. The offense has been inconsistent this year. It seems some of our receivers are having a hard time getting open.

Nebraska is favored by 15 points right now in Saturday nights game against N Illinois. I'm going to have to bet on Nebraska this week if the points are that low.

Well, yesterday some other big name teams struggled. Michigan survived a scare from the Army. And Washington was upset by California in their own home stadium. That game ended after midnight up there because of a 2 and 1/2 hour rain delay.

This loss likely keeps some of the sucker money at home, so the bookies have less concern and can be more accurate. 15 is more than two touchdowns. I think Neb wins, but by less than that. This smells like the green zero on a roulette wheel. Just enough to shave the odds in favor of the house, but not enough to be obvious.

Brian Christopherson said the difference between this being a 38-7 Husker victory or a 31-34 OT loss was razor thin. Just a handful of moments here and there turned what could've been a comfortable win into what we got. Another epic meltdown. Damon Benning pretty much said the same thing.

And I agree. As frustrating as this loss was to take -- looks like the same old sh--, different year. This felt different to me. It feels like there's a switch that's off. Whereas under Mike Riley, I ultimately felt no hope for things to get better. This feels so much different. It feels like Wild Thing simply needs a pair of glasses in Major League. That kind of switch. Flip it and things are going to move. These bizarre losses stop.

It got me thinking about 2017 UCF and 2019 Nebraska. What's the difference? I think we can all agree that Nebraska's 2019 roster is superior to UCF's 2017 roster. Heck, any UCF roster, really. Some people might instantly balk at that notion, but the recruiting rankings say otherwise. The talent at Nebraska is several tiers ahead of UCF. And yet, the Golden Knights did it. Under Scott Frost's system they burned through a season undefeated. Now, granted, that 2017 UCF schedule was no gauntlet. But there were at least two teams that I would say were better than the Colorado team Nebraska just lost to -- Memphis and South Florida. And, on top of that, UCF beat a bona fide elite program in the Peach Bowl against Auburn. Four games against better competition (they played Memphis twice). A 4-0 record. Other than the first meeting with Memphis, none of those games were blowouts. They were track meets that Frost and UCF somehow figured out a way to sweep.

What's the difference between 2017 UCF and what we're seeing right now at Nebraska?

I think it's the quarterback. Both McKenzie Milton and Adrian Martinez have elite skill sets. I would even argue that on sheer talent alone, Martinez is better than Milton. But Milton beats good competition. And destroys lesser competition. Martinez does neither. How? Why? It's confidence level. Milton plays with no fear. A reckless abandon. Martinez gets in his own head. Thinks too much. Gets tentative. Last year, when AM was at his best, he just went out and balled. Didn't over-think anything and just played. That's when he flashed the same potential as Milton (and I would argue MORE potential) last year. Not this year. Two games. Two under-performances. Preseason, there was talk of Martinez being on Heisman watch lists. That talk has completely evaporated. Whereas, at the end of 2017, Milton was invited to New York to attend the ceremony. He might have won it, too, if UCF's schedule hadn't been such a push-over.

McKenzie Milton's attitude reminds me a lot of Eric Crouch. We have had some quarterbacks since then that played with similar fearlessness (Jamal Lord and Joe Ganz come to mind). But there was a certain unflappable swagger that both Crouch and Milton have. Martinez could have it himself. Maybe it doesn't come natural to him. But he can learn it. That swagger could be Wild Thing putting on his glasses. If Adrian Martinez can somehow muster that sort of confidence, look out. The whole team would kick into a higher gear. And the talk of "Division Champs" won't seem so out of reach like it does now.

I'll give Frost credit for getting last year's team to improve over the course of the season. That's why I still have some hope for this season. But if I'm being honest, I can't say this feels any different than the last 10 years, minus 2017. Riley's last season was toxic for several reasons. However, even he was still competitive at times, won a bowl game, and beat a ranked MSU team.

If Frost wasn't a former player, there's no way he'd be getting somewhat of a pass from fans and media. Both his teams at Nebraska have featured penalty and turnover issues. Defense has been questionable. And the offense is prone to vanish for entire quarters.

I don't think everything is doom and gloom. There are certainly some promising areas. However, I can't say for sure Nebraska has a good coaching staff. The problems just aren't getting fixed yet. For example, Frost has been vocal about the penalty problems. But then he gets a personal foul for coming out onto the field after the late fumble recovery on Colorado's kick return. Nebraska starts the drive at its own 28 instead of its 43. That's as stupid of a play as any in the game. They also had to use a timeout on their first play from scrimmage in the 2nd half.

We're still very early into the rebuild. We have no choice but to be patient. The best thing about Frost is nobody is more upset about these results than him. And he will make changes unlike the previous 3 coaches. He's already made some depth chart changes this week.

I agree 100% with you about what the bookies are trying to do here. Nebraska lost to N Illinois 2 years ago and the way they look right now they could easily lose to N Illinois again. The way Nebraska looks right now and the way they looked the past 5 years it is not smart to bet on them at all. That is why I only bet $20 this week just to make the game more entertaining Saturday night. I think the bookies were ridiculous last week making Nebraska a 4 or 5 point favorite. Colorado should of been favored by 2 1/2 points. I think the bookies are way off again this week and Nebraska should be favored by 21 points. Nebraska will pound N Illinois or lose straight up to them again. If N Illinois beats Nebraska again this year in Lincoln they will be selling tickets to Nebraska games for $10 by the end of the season.

I'm betting on Nebraska. Nebraska wins this week 45-23

I'm not this wide-eyed about Husker football... But I just wanted to point out that the possibility of a playoff appearance is still there.

ALL they have to do is win out and they would definitely be in the conversation, right? What if - Nebraska squeeks by Ohio State and somehow wins out the rest of their schedule, then squeek by an undefeated Michigan team.

That would probably be a matchup of 12-0 #3 Michigan vs 11-1 #6 or so Nebraska. How interesting a scenario that would be. With both teams beating a 10-2 Ohio State, both teams beating Wisconsin and Iowa.

I have to think Michigan would still get the spot.

2 years ago when we got beat by N Illinois we had a quarterback who the fake news told us would someday play in the NFL. The fake news was wrong as Tanner Lees entire NFL career was over after a couple of preseason flops. Now we have a quarterback the fake news has been telling us that has a shot at the Heisman Trophy this year. Again the fake news spews garbage. Martinez will not be considered for the Heisman this year. Martinez will not be playing for a conference championship this year. Martinez will not be graduating early next year to go to the NFL. All that being said Martinez is 10 times the quarterback Tanner Lee was. N Illinois will not be playing the lame and worthless Tanner Lee this week. I think Martinez will personally take it to N Illinois this week. As bad as the Colorado game was we saw good things in the way Martinez was starting to run the ball more. Martinez will run even more this week and N Illinois will not be able to stop it.

That was a very long winded reply talking nothing but about the QB. I think your focus should be more on the awful defense. I still don't understand why the boys don't have to earn them...but are given them before the season even starts. stupid.

The defense is more or less the same bad defense we had last year. It is what it is. All the black shirts with the scary skulls painted on them in the world are never going to change that fact.

I don't want to say it, but I don't think its going to be pretty... 33-21 Huskers

Edit: Actually, 35-21. They can't lean on kicking field goals.

NU 28 N.IL 17. Any loss today is unacceptable. Martinez and Washington will need to carry the load. Defense needs to play hard entire game.

Colorado is going to lose to Air Force which clearly means Nebraska is even worse then I thought. This is what happens when I don''t wait until the last minute to place my bets. No way would I bet on Nebraska to cover this week now! It is now looking like a given that Nebraska will not cover the points and has a real good chance of losing this game.

Arizona State upset Michigan State in overtime today. And MSU fans on social media are pretty much doing what we do whenever Nebraska loses–Whine and complain about the playcalls, the coaching staff, call for their jobs, etc.

Now that's how the team should look! Too bad was only able to listen to the first half on the radio due to Iowa/State. Sigh... What if 3-0... Would have a totally different feel from 2-1.

Team might be re-ranked next weekend. Feeling really good about 3-1 heading into the home game against Ohio State.

Exactly what the Doctor ordered..

A convincing, bounce back 44-8 win against a pretty good MAC conference team.

Much improvement for NU, especially on the defensive side of the ball- giving up NO touchdowns and having a nice goal line stand.. The offense continues to be an evolving work in progress. But they had improved play, and should build momentum into the game next Saturday at Illinois..

Nice job turning the page after a tough loss last week. On to Champaign...

Fox News Business (Cox channel 83) carried the game on TV for the entire 1st half until the ISU-Iowa game ended.. Then moved the telecast to Fox Sports Net. I didn’t miss viewing any of the game- thanks to my W-H online notification telling me 10 minutes before kickoff what channel I could watch the game starting with the opening...

I found out about the game being moved to Fox Business channel as well from looking at the Omaha World Heralds web site about 5 minutes before the game started. I wasn’t even sure if I received Fox Business , I was glad to find out I get it. This was the first enjoyable Husker game to watch this year. As even the first game felt like a loss. And probably one of the better Husker games I’ve watched in a while.

The good news is Nebraska won. The bad news is the score masks the truth which is Nebraska could of lost that game. N Illinois is a mess but so is Nebraska! How does Nebraska plan on winning tough games with no field goal kicker? It worked out good for the Nebraska defense but they were scary close of getting 3 touchdowns scored on them by a lousy team. The score belies the truth which is this was not an easy win for Nebraska at all. Hope for championships or top tier bowl games is starting to fade.

 ..

NU was up 30-5 at halftime and it should have been a lot worse..

The only truth from last nights game one can decipher from your post, is the Huskers badly need a legit FG kicker (and Scott Frost indicated in his post game press conference that Barret Pickering should be 100% healthy very soon)..

Everything else is fake news...

We have seen 3 games now and the picture is starting to come into better focus. Its going to be a rough year and their aint no ifs ands or fake news about it. I'm not predicting that Nebraska will lose next week in Illinois but they could.
