For anyone who is a fan, sadly Sushi Japan is closing on April 28th. With all the Asian fusion, hipster sushi and ramen places in town, I am truly saddened that one of the few actual Japanese restaurants is closing.

I did manage to make it in there one last time for some yakisoba before they close. I forgot how super friendly the staff is. I'll be sad to see it go. I think it's the first place I ever ate sushi in Omaha.
There will be a new Indian restaurant opening here within a week or two, Biryani-focused from what I'm told. The owners have ties to Flavors downtown, or did. This is all I know so far, I haven't been onsite yet.

Biryani usually takes a long time to make, and has complex flavors and textures. Some of them include fruit and nuts, and all are made with a combination of fresh herbs and dried spices. A biryani is traditionally eaten by hand (it's not a saucy rice dish), and can be eaten as a meal by itself. The fanciest biryanis are made with the most expensive spice in the world: saffron. In a country whose religions often dictate dietary restrictions, meatless biryani is something that everyone eat.
Thanks. I have basically given up on Indian food as I have a carb restriction and hate food with lots of gravy. Indian food leaves me with tandoori chicken or too much carbs or too much gravy.

I think there might be 3 or 4 more now compared to 2009? And 2 or 3 have closed since then?
I'm just surprised they didn't build in that plaza where Julio's used to be (132nd and Center), across from the Hindu temple.
The Indian grocery store at 144th and Center by former Sushi Japan / former Tokyo Kitchen is pretty big and is always busy when I go in there, so I guess that's why the Indian businesses are growing there.

It's not. Without even really thinking about all the places in Omaha, I can see Persis Biryani is missing. But I think it's been an Indian restaurant location since before 2009. (Yeah, Dhaba has a few Yelp reviews from 2009)
Kurry Express was opened right around 2009

And I never said Crystal Jade was Indian. It calls itself Pan Asian Fusion, and features Korean, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese and Malaysian as well as Chinese. It’s a perfect choice for when a group cannot all agree on what cuisine to eat. Their curry noodle soup, a Malaysian item, is wonderful.

What about it?
I used to eat at Indian Cafe at Oak View pretty often. As a single person it was great because you could get 3 different curries on one plate, for around $10.

Sorry for bumping such an old thread,but I just found out the Sushi Chef from Sushi Japan opened a new place in Fremont that looks to have a ton of Sushi Japan rolls including Beyond Rangoon.

Per their Facebook post late last night, it sounds like it is not going well.
The image on the short video clip at the post says "We are going to close for good if we don't start getting some support Fremont.... like for real"
We heard the people are boycotting my new restaurant because they’re upset at me for closing My old restaurant doesn’t make a lot of sense… you wont eat my new food cause you loved my old food so much, a little bit of pretzel logic there… doesn’t change the fact that we’re not gonna survive any more nights like this. We tried to bring something different to Fremont and different is always risky
