The good news is Nebraska won. The bad news is the score masks the truth which is Nebraska could of lost that game. N Illinois is a mess but so is Nebraska! How does Nebraska plan on winning tough games with no field goal kicker? It worked out good for the Nebraska defense but they were scary close of getting 3 touchdowns scored on them by a lousy team. The score belies the truth which is this was not an easy win for Nebraska at all. Hope for championships or top tier bowl games is starting to fade.
..
NU was up 30-5 at halftime and it should have been a lot worse..
The only truth from last nights game one can decipher from your post, is the Huskers badly need a legit FG kicker (and Scott Frost indicated in his post game press conference that Barret Pickering should be 100% healthy very soon)..
Everything else is fake news...

We have seen 3 games now and the picture is starting to come into better focus. Its going to be a rough year and their aint no ifs ands or fake news about it. I'm not predicting that Nebraska will lose next week in Illinois but they could.
We’re only 3 games in. There is no definitive way, at this point, anyone can predict what kind of season the Huskers will have as of now. That’s why I’ve stated once we get about 6 games in, things start to get a bit clearer..
NU will play an Illinois team this Saturday that is likely not as good as the team they trashed yesterday..
There have been incremental improvements with this team every week. They are getting better. I still stand by 8-4. That’d be far from a rough year imo. Now if they lose to the Illini, I’ll admit, a rough year is likely on the horizon...
Michigan State fell out of the AP Top 25 poll today. They were ranked #18, but now they're not even ranked at all. Boy, that loss to Arizona State yesterday must've really hurt them.

Pretty sure after the first two quarters there was no possible way for Nebraska to lose that game. Close doesn't count except for explosive devices.
The only things that are holding Nebraska back at this point are Frosty's cutesy overthinking everything, and the putrid offensive line play. Until Frost figures himself out and what he really has on the team, you're going to see skitzo results. The line play is likely due to inexperience yet again.
Nebraska vs Ohio St set for a 6:30pm kickoff Sept 28th...

I'm guessing Ohio State will be a 14 point favorite over Nebraska in Lincoln next week.
Right now the question at hand is what is Nebraska going to do this Saturday night. Nebraska is favored by 13 1/2 which seems way to high. My guess is Nebraska is in for a war against Illinois this Saturday night that they very well might not win much less cover the points. My first impulse this week is to bet on Illinois getting the 13 1/2 points. This morning the points were 10 1/2 and they went up 3 points by afternoon which might mean everyone was betting Nebraska.

The huskers have been 5-1 against Illinois since the realignment, and were 2-0 against them in the two historically worst seasons ever in Nebraska football history. I'm not concerned about this upcoming game whatsoever. How that translates to the spread, I don't know. But the Huskers would be in deep trouble if they lose this game, and I don't think that will happen.

Illinois is worse than NIU, based on results this year.
They might even be worse than South Alabama.
Not really. Colorado was the best team we played so far and Illinois will be the 2nd best. The coach of Illinois gets paid 5 million dollars a year and was the head coach of the Chicago Bears for over 5 years and coached Tampa Bay for a couple of years. The coaching staff at Illinois is legit. Illinois is trying to build a bad program into a good program just like Nebraska. Illinois wants to be legit every bit as much as Nebraska does. I watched a few Utubes of the game Illinois just lost to E Michigan Saturday and Illinois fought a good game. They did not lay down at all. In fact what happened is they were having a nice close game with E Michigan(a known giant killer) and in the middle of the 3rd quarter after a freak play and a interception Illinois finds itself down 2 touchdowns in the 4th quarter with time ticking. Illinois fights back and gets even only to have E Michigan run down and score again leaving less then 2 minutes on the clock. Illinois did not quit and ran down and almost got back in the game. The Illinois quarterback looks to have a lot more touch and control then the quarterback of N Illinois had. If you go back and watch the clips of the Nebraska vs N Illinois game you can see that the receivers for N Illinois were open for big passes but the qb just did not have the accuracy to get the ball to them.
3 minute highlight reel of the Illinois vs E Michigan game.......it was a war and they will be looking to avenge the loss big time this week.

It’s close. But like I’ve mentioned earlier, I do think N Illinois is probably a better overall team than the Illini..Illinois has played absolutely bad teams so far this year..
And who cares who Illinois head coach is, lol..Bill Callahan was once a head coach for the Oakland Raiders and led them to a Super Bowl appearance; and several years after that, we saw what a train wreck he was while he was the head man for the Huskers. It matters not...

Northern Illinois is probably better than Illinois right now, yes; my post was stating that even South Alabama might give Illinois a run for their money with the way they (Illinois) are playing. I could be misunderstanding your post towards mine though.
And as for the previous post above Cowboy's.... Eastern Michigan a giant killer? Er....beating Rutgers and Purdon't the past few years isn't really being a Giant Killer.

No I get what you’re saying and agree with you Martin ...
It really is all about line play. It looks like we've got a solid one on the defensive side. However, our young offensive line obviously has a long way to go. We saw a few big plays, but NIU was largely winning the LOS. I sure hope things improve fast. Oh, and Pickering returns soon, ugh.
Shoot for the Moon... if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

Not sure how this highlight reel shows Illinois as a team to be feared.
I went to the Ameristar Sportsbook today and was surprised to find Nebraska was only favored by 11 points so I went over to the Horseshoe Casino where Nebraska was favored by 13 points. I think Nebraska could lose this game straight up and if they are favored by 13 points then I have to be sensible and bet on Illinois. Can the forum idiot win 4 weeks in a row?
Speaking of the Ameristar, the river is flooding the parking lot again big time. Just last week the water had finally receded back into the river and Ameristar had a guy in a skid loader out digging the parking lot back out of the silt and flooded debris. They just got it cleaned up and it did not even last a week and already looks like this again.
I think this game might be close than a lot of people are expecting. Illinois has essentially beaten or lost to its opponents the same way the Huskers have. Turns out Illinois' loss to Eastern Michigan is similar to Nebraska's loss to Colorado and the scores have been very similar. If you ignore the fact it is "lowly" Illinois, the teams are very evenly matched so far this season.
I see no reason to expect the Huskers to win by 13 points. I don't have enough to make a prediction on this game, but I'll just make a wild guess...
Well, they did it. Nebraska came from behind and won 42-38. Scott Frost's first road win. I'm still not pleased with the way they played today. Too many mistakes, too many penalties, missed opportunities. They better clean that up. If Nebraska plays like this against Ohio State next week, they will get destroyed.
And If they could kick field goals, make it 66-17!
This win makes me feel good in that if they could eliminate turnovers, that's the kind of game it would have been. The offensive production was beautiful (stat-wise). I was only able to tune into about 15 real-time minutes of the game between watching the start and the finish.
This was Scott Frost best win as a Husker coach. They need to cut down on the penalties and turnovers to have a Chance against Ohio State. This game against Illinois shouldn’t of even been close.

Agreed. The horribly sloppy and undisciplined play was enough for Nebraska to overcome a bad Illinois team on the road..
But even if the Huskers clean everything up at home against the Buckeyes, they likely (still) don’t stand a chance..

And PS- Find a doggone FG kicker already, will ya?!...
Yeah, what's the story with that? I would think that the coaches would be sure that they had a number capable and trained kickers on the roster!
The top two are out with injury. To have two top qualified on a college team in fine .... normally. This is not on the coaching staff being prepared it is about dealing with a bunch of bad luck that lined up at a bad time.
For the record NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER !!!!!!!

Absolutely it was his best. If Frost had coached the Colorado game like he did this one Nebraska might be undefeated. Excellent clock management in the 4th quarter put the choke hold on a dangerous team.

I did notice they were taking the clock down to 3 to 1 seconds to close out the game. It was very impressive they didn't get a delay.
Nebraska wasn't the only team that played sloppy last night. Washington State (WSU) blew a commanding lead over UCLA and lost 67-63. In the second half of that game, they just fell asleep and UCLA ran all over them. Now WSU has fallen out of the rankings in the AP poll. They were ranked #19. Not anymore.
Vegas has NU down by 15.5 points this am. NU will either get blown out and OSU will cover easily or NU will beat the spread. My prediction is that OSU wins by 10.
