Re: Nebraska Football 2019
It should be a perfect fall day for football weather wise. I’d stay the entire game too. Let me know if you do see empty seats...nebugeater wrote: Wed Nov 13, 2019 8:13 pmI wonder how many empty seats there will be at kickoff. I know I will be there and stay until the end.Omaha Cowboy wrote: Wed Nov 13, 2019 8:01 pmThat’s crazy low for this game.. But it shows that many fans expect an NU loss, combined with the 11am kickoff.. I think many fans would rather sell their tickets to this one..rather than subject themselves to another Husker Saturday AM kickoff loss..jag42 wrote: Wed Nov 13, 2019 7:48 pm A quick check of StubHub and Vividseats shows tickets as low as $17 for this Saturday's Wisconsin-Nebraska game.
Although I don’t think the final score of this game will be as lopsided as many think...

You know, after a little bit of thinking, I agree with this prediction a lot. Just so I'm not making the same prediction, I will say 34-14 Wisconsin.Omaha Cowboy wrote: Tue Nov 12, 2019 12:29 am Lol..
Do you guys think this is Ohio St coming into Lincoln?.. Yes. Wisconsin is the better team. Yes. Wisconsin is bigger, stronger and more physical than NU..
Wisconsin- 34
Nebraska- 17...
Ciao..LiO...Peace
BUT the way that team runs the ball, and how poor Nebraska's run defense is, I won't be surprised if its a match-up nightmare that would yield them 49+ points. Wisconsin's team offense isn't THAT good as a whole, but with the way they match up with Nebraska, I also wouldn't be terribly surprised if they don't have to throw the ball.
I think it will look worse than 34-17 sounds. But we'll see.

I’m just gonna watch it on TV, and if it gets out of hand I’ll switch to another game or go cut the grass one last time. Tickets now down to $16. That price is tempting.

Yeah, no kidding... especially for someone to take their family for the first time, get some $16 tickets.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say:
Nebraska: 27
Wisconsin: 24
For no reason but I have a feeling that is either an upset or it's indigestion.

I’m still feeling 34-17. Same as I felt very early this week.. Perhaps this time, NU will actually come off this bye week as an improved and more focused team..Busguy2010 wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2019 5:41 pmYou know, after a little bit of thinking, I agree with this prediction a lot. You know, I'll admit, there does feel like more potential for an upset in this one than in many of the past big games (or predicted blowouts) because they lost to Illinois and they also were dismantled my Ohio State. It does feel like it could happen.MadMartin8 wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2019 4:59 pm Gonna go out on a limb here and say:

I'm not happy. Out of 9 Nebraska football games I have beat the Bookie 7 times and lost twice. I'm not going to make any excuses for my failures. I was an idiot and bet on Nebraska 2 times and I got beat for that reason alone. That is not going to happen again this week. I am sick and tired of losing because I was so stupid I bet on Nebraska. Nebraska is not getting better they are getting worse. Nebraska is caught in a black hole and we are not done falling yet. The beat down we got coming is upon us. I am an idiot for not betting more the $20 on Wisconsin. Its free money for taking.
Wisconsin 63 Nebraska 13

A 14.5 point spread? That is in the no bet range for me. The only way you win is if the game is a huge blow out. Definitely could happen, but it seems more likely that the Holers lose by less than 14 points.

“LINCOLN — Nebraska Chancellor Ronnie Green and Athletic Director Bill Moos announced Saturday a two-year contract extension for Husker football coach Scott Frost.
“Two years ago, we had the tremendous opportunity to bring Scott Frost home to Nebraska to lead our football program into the future. We are even more committed to that decision today," Green and Moos said in a joint statement.”..
I’m sure this will drive the anti-Frost “lunatic fringe” of the Husker fan base bat sh!t crazy

People make too much of contract extensions, both ways. But this one looks like an act of desperation from Nebraska.

Nevermind, I retract my optimism. That Nebraska defense is putrid and Chinander is gonna Chinander.
Nebraska won't be back until that dude is gone and Martinez isn't afraid to run again.

Re: Nebraska Football 2019
Nebraska got beat up a bit by Wisconsin but we have seen lots worse. It is the same old story where the Defense is worthless and the Offense just is not good enough to go out there and score consistently. From a bettors standpoint I got my moneys worth of suspense down to the last minute.
Minnesota playing Iowa at 3pm on Fox should be interesting. Iowa is favored by 3 points. Minnesota should win this game.

Re: Nebraska Football 2019
My prediction- 34-17 Wisconsin.. The final score- 37-21 Wisconsin..
The game went pretty much as I expected. Except there were times in the 2nd half where NU had legitimate shots to get back into the game, and Martinez “shot” himself in the foot. The defense was pathetic, but at least gave better effort this week. Not having Wan’dale Robinson certainly hurt.. But again, just not enough horses in the shed for the Huskers to win. One glaring improvement was only 3 NU penalties for the game (one of them a questionable sideline interference call)..
On to Maryland next Saturday...

I don’t see the Frost extension as an act of desperation at all. Only the anti-Scott Frost, lunatic fringe crowd will have a problem with it..twiztid1 wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2019 12:16 pm People make too much of contract extensions, both ways. I see the extension as Nebraska believing they have the right man for the job and “doubling down” on that commitment. The other thing this extension does, is help with recruiting. Young players out of HS knowing they’ll have the continuity of the same head coach through 2026 is a BIG deal..
I think it’s a smart move and I’ll fully support it...

This Loss was a “feel good” loss for Nebraska, it could of been so much worse. Mills looked great and had himself his best game as a Husker. At times Martinez looked like his old self. They need to beat Maryland then hope for a lucky break or two to beat Iowa.

Re: Nebraska Football 2019
Since when does a coach receiving a contract extension guarantee “continuity of the same head coach” through the term of his contract? How many years did Callahan and Pelini get paid NOT to coach? And as I recall Solich and Riley were axed before their contracts expired.
Of the last ten head football coaches at UNL, Scott Frost’s W-L percentage places him at 9th best out of the ten. Let that sink in for a minute.

In 2003 Nebraska’s athletic director fired a coach with a 9-3 W-L record because he feared it showed the football program was ‘gravitating into mediocrity.’
Oh, how luxurious it would be to “suffer” such mediocrity in 2019!

Different times and 2 different AD’s one being completely incompetent at his job while at NU (Peterson).. Eichhorst was a looney tune as well..nativeomahan wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2019 3:13 pm Since when does a coach receiving a contract extension guarantee “continuity of the same head coach” through the term of his contract? Unless he moves on through his own decision, Anything can happen.. But, I’d be shocked, SHOCKED, if Scott Frost was fired before the end of this contract..
And one additional thing to note- Frost is not even through with his 2nd season at NU.. I think it’s a bit over reactive to assume he’ll fail as his 3 predecessors did. The coach needs to have a chance, for goodness sakes. As I stated in a previous post, even Bo Pelini (who I never supported) got 7 years. Again, give this staff the time...

That's exactly why I think it's a desperation move. Frost hasn't even finished year 2 of a 7 year contract, and his recruiting momentum is pretty much gone. There's certainly no need to guarantee two more years this early. And given Nebraska fired its last 3 coaches shortly after giving them extensions, everybody knows it means nothing.Omaha Cowboy wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2019 2:29 pm My prediction- 34-17 Wisconsin.. I'm no Husker expert so I have no stock in the contract extension.
All I know is the team looked pretty good at times during this game. They played better than I expected, and I agree it was a pretty feel good loss.

This, of course, is assuming Frost will fail and get fired..We’re less than 2 seasons into his tenure, geez..bigredmed1 wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2019 5:37 pm These extensions just increase the risk of having to buy him out like our last coaches![]()
I understand the frustration and the “need” of the fan base for the Huskers to win “NOW”.. Like I said earlier, give the guy and his staff a chance..
Let me share a story about a coach.. The first 5 seasons he was head coach, his record was 18 wins, 46 losses and 4 ties. Yep, this coach was 18-46-4 his first 5 years. The fan base that wasn’t apathetic, wanted him fired, “NOW”. Ownership thought otherwise, and signed him to a 10 year contract extension. That head coach was Tom Landry of the Dallas Cowboys..who then proceeded to lead his team to an NFL record 20 consecutive winning seasons, 5 Super Bowl appearances and 2 Super Bowl Championships.. You should know this story..and if you don’t, read up about it..
I’m not Nostradamus. Maybe Frost will fall on his face. Maybe he won’t. The point is, NONE of us, less than TWO seasons into his tenure can know that for sure. If a knucklehead like Pelini got 7 years, Scott Frost at least deserves the same consideration before we gloom and doom his tenure as failure...

You are mistaking my concern. I hope he builds things back up and in a year or two we can see improvement. We heard your arguments in favor of every coach extension and these just lead to fat buy out down the road. I am legit tired of these as they are bleeding their program.Omaha Cowboy wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2019 7:20 pmThis, of course, is assuming Frost will fail and get fired..We’re less than 2 seasons into his tenure, geez..bigredmed1 wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2019 5:37 pm These extensions just increase the risk of having to buy him out like our last coaches![]()

Re: Nebraska Football 2019
IIRC, this was when the now-multi-decade slump began!
