Fred's first team at Iowa State was hot garbage too. Patience my friends. Patience.

Yeah I can't take away any positives from that game. Nothing seemed to work. Was the point spread almost 20 or am I way off on that?

I didn't know what to expect this year as I can't recall any team ever turning over a roster like Hoiberg did. Have no idea what's to come .

Greg
This level of turnover is unheard of... Nebraska was going to be horrific this season regardless of coach.

If Nebraska is trying to get out of the rut that it has been in for decades......then why would we hire someone back who we had to fire because they were responsible for keeping us in a rut for years. Where is the sense in that line of thinking. Since when is that kind of illogical thinking ever yielded successful results? Are we now running a good old boys club here in Lincoln? I will answer my own question YES we are now running a good old boys club in Lincoln.

It looks like Nebraska is an 8 point favorite over Southern Utah tomorrow afternoon in Lincoln. Southern Utah has a 7 foot center. The 7ft center for UC Riverside dealt Nebraska fits. We would love to have a 7ft center playing for Nebraska. If these 2 sub par teams can find 7 ft Centers then Nebraska should be able to find one.

Come on Gramps, even you know there is a difference in being a Head Coach vs. an Assistant.

Southern Utah 69
Nebraska 69 OT

A NU 3 at the buzzer sends it to OT.

Another loss but they looked better than they did on Tuesday night. They are really still learning to be a team. It will come but this will be a long season.

With only Thor returning, none of these players have ever played with each other, they will have to find themselves as a team. However, missing all those Free Throws needs to be fixed.

Game two was at 65.5 %, not great but a move in the right direction from game 1 ( 47.4%)

Now if they are going to think of themselves as a three-point shooting team that needs some work.
Game 1 6/26 23.1 %
Game 2 5/26 19.2 %

They got to overtime thanks to a three-pointer, they could have won in overtime if they could have hit a free throw. Go figure.

Both had to get new players trying to change the culture. When they learn how to play together under a new system we will see how good of coaches they are.

It has been mentioned before but Hoiberg was known as the best at getting transfers. Now the transfer market is so much more open, so it will be interesting to see if he can still work his magic. Maybe he can have some Haymarket Magic instead of Hilton Magic.

He seemed to do it again bringing in 11 new players. I think I underestimated how much of a disruption that would be. Will be interesting to see the progress during the season. With the start we've had, there is a ton of room for improvement and growth.

Nebraska is a 6 1/2 point favorite tonight over South Dakota in Lincoln. Does this mean Nebraska will get the first win of the year? I would not bet on it and in fact if the Casino was not 20 miles away I would go there and bet $20 on South Dakota. How low is my faith that I would bet on South Dakota? My faith is so low that I thing South Dakota has a 50/50 chance of winning this game. Come on Nebraska there is no excuse for losing to South Dakota.

First win for the Mailman as Nebraska scores 90 points. I can't lie and say we were not worried that this basketball coach hire was headed down the same road the football coach hire did. Maybe the Mailman can recruit.

His teams play well in the Post(office), and they mail threes from Downtown. They're going to stamp out any opposition!

Frankly I like Mailman better than "The Mayor".

Is the post office still close to PBA or is that building gone now? I remember in that area in the 80’s.

The post office is right next door. The only real difference is there are now lots of signs that say no event parking.

Nebraska was a 19 1/2 point favorite tonight and had to go into overtime for the 93 to 86 victory. Those odds makers are as in left field about NE basketball as they are NE football.

Never heard of it myself but anyway it looks like the Huskers and any of their fans that got a few thousand to spend are heading to the Carabbean for a nice little Thanksgiving vacation/ basketball tournament. It is a 3 day tourney in the Cayman Islands starting tomorrow night. There are only 8 teams and the championship game is Wednesday night. If the Huskers could win 3 games they would be the tournament champion. Nebraska's first opponent is Washington State who just lost Thursday night to UNO 85 to 77. I was wondering if Nebraska this year could even beat UNO and this may be as close as we are going to get to an answer. No odds are out yet but I would assume Nebraska would be favored by at least 10 points Monday night.

Yes, they ended up beating Clemson for the "Championship" of the tourney.

Nebraska is only favored by 1 point tonight. That is not encouraging. I would not bet on this game but if I did I would have to take Nebraska since their opponent just lost to UNO.

Nebraska 82 Washington St 71

Nebraska wins its 3rd game in a row which helps tremendously to relieve fans fears that our new basketball program is not going to be the dud our new football program has turned out to be. Tonight Nebraska is a 1 1/2 point favorite over George Mason. The winner advances to the championship game tomorrow.

I don't think the bookmakers know what to do with Nebraska. Can't think of any time a Power 5 turned over their roster as extensively as NU did under Hoiberg.

I know I certainly don't know what to expect day to day.

Definitely makes for a very interesting season though.

After winning 3 games in a row Nebraska went cold and could not hit shots tonight. 66 points ain't going to cut it against most teams. That gym they are playing in is like a high school gym! They are going to get blown out against Creighton next week if they shoot like they did tonight.

Nebraska beat South Flordia this afternoon 74-67. They went 2-1 in the Cayman Island tourney. From what I had seen so far I would have not been surprised to see them go 0-3. Longways to go but this was one small baby step int the right direction. Don't interpret those comments as expecting a good season but every little bit helps.

Yeah going into that tournament I would have gladly taken 2 and 1. I agree, I don't think it will be a good season (rebounding could be really trying during Big 10 play) but it will be interesting.

Wednesday night at Georgia Tech is another team the Huskers could beat. It is not a good start for the Huskers but it is not a bad start either. Saturday in Omaha the Huskers are not going to be able to match shots with Creighton more then likely.

Huskers are a 9 1/2 point underdog against the Yellow Jackets Wednesday. The coach was not making any promises today. Hate to see how much Creighton is going to be favored by.
