I checked this out today and was floored by how small the seating area is. Flagship Commons dwarfs it.

I saw several articles (mostly on facebook) touting that it was the first food hall in Omaha. What a weird oversight of Flagship Commons.

Maybe I'm missing some sort of underlying distinction that makes a "food hall" particularly special over a food court that malls have had for decades. I don't get the hype.

I am not sure what exactly defines a food hall vs a regular ol' food court, but its seems like the biggest differences in these trendy 'food halls' are 1) there is a 'curated' variety of restaurants and 2) absence of big national chains.

No difference at all. Food court and food hall are the same. Just like "ghosting" and "catfishing", new terms for things we've always had.

Food Court 2.0- Basically the same principles apply as did with the old food court plan except with the new plan you cut out the Franchise expense and keep all the profits local.

I am interested in receiving feedback from any forum readers who have dined at the Inner Rail. Someone mentioned the seating area was quite limited. Any other responses? How was the food? Your overall experience?
My understanding on the differences between a food court and a food hall is that a food court is primarily populated with the same old fast food outlets that you would find in malls from Scranton to Sacramento, while food halls feature more original, inventive cuisine, at much higher prices, often offering beer, wine and hard liquor.

We ate there Saturday a week ago. The weather wasn’t conducive to dining outside although in decent weather it would be nice. 3-4 fire pits and good seating. The weather forced everyone to eat inside & it was during the NE football game so it was crowded and noisy. Having said all that we (2) were able to find a place to sit right away & I noticed a group of 8 that came in right as we were leaving was able to find seating. With the noise it wasn’t particularly conducive to having a leisurely meal so there was fairly fast turnover. I had Noli’s pizza which I thought was excellent. My husband had seafood tacos from ACTQ which he enjoyed. Neither of us was impressed with the ice cream place.

I didn’t realize those townhomes were going to have 2 car garages. The floor plans look interesting. Lots stuffed into each unit. Not sure ‘stuffed’ will be the right word but looking at the site and foundations it is difficult to imagine it being roomy. Check it out at liveat64ave.com.

I don't see a big difference between Flagship Commons and Inner Rail but for one thing:

Location. They both offer interesting choices (Amsterdam Falafel & Kabob at Flagship for instance) but the difference is I much prefer going to Aksarben Village than going to the Westroads. A.V. feels like such a much more exciting environment, there's a lot more "buzz" about the place, what with the Baxter Arena nearby for big events, a cinema (both places have of course), neighborhood bars, nightlife, restaurant choices outside the food hall, a large public park with outdoor stage for big events and festivals, a farmers market in the warm months, a great sports bar with huge tv screens in the center of it all - AV has everything you'd want for a night on the town. And the food hall there adds one more reason to go there.

And then I must say the parking situation at AV is genius for the way they have it set up. Four large multi-story garages in the four block area - and now with lighted signs showing how many parking spots are available -- more or less inviting me to turn in and get a spot. No more parking on the street like I used to hunt for, when using the garage now is so easy, especially in inclement weather. When I get back to the car, I won't have to clear the snow off. And that these garages were ingeniously situated in the middle of the lot, so that street-side storefronts can surround, gives AV a very urban feel to it. It's like going downtown and having the suburban conveniences at the same time.

Unless I wish to shop till I drop, I see no reason to visit Flagship Commons by itself as a destination.

Granted we live in AV so we will certainly go to Inner Rail significantly more, but as retirees we eat out lots and are always looking for places with variety so our lack of interest in Flagship Commons is somewhat significant.

I suppose part of the logic is that Flaship would provide another place to eat for people who work in the offices in Regency. Also, you could go there before a movie. That being said, would either of those appeal to me? Probably not. I'm one who has only been there when I'm shopping.

I Ate at Inner Rail yesterday (Friday). They had a good crowd over the lunch hour. We actually got there about 15 min before noon. Thought the food was good but a little pricey, but if you want cheap go to McDonald’s. Overall a good experience and would probably go back again. Definitely smaller than the food court at Westroads. But we didn’t have to wait for seating and this was around noon on a Friday probably one of the busiest times for them all week. Hopefully it does well and Omaha can support this type of venue.

We went to the Inner Rail on Saturday. As always, parking at Aksarben is first rate. Parked in the HDR garage and pretty much walked right into Inner Rail. I got a burger and sweet potato tots and my husband got Lamb Masala with naan. I was disappointed in my burger. The bun was dry and cold and way too thick and dense for the little 1/4 pound burger. The rest of the burger was fine, but felt like a premade patty, very dense. The burger and condiments couldn't hold up against that massive bun. The tots were really good and cooked to order so they were hot and fresh. My husband's lamb was good, a little sweeter than he likes. The naan was also good.

The drinks are either bottled coke products or single serve tea/lemonade. There are glasses and water stations that I would get next time. My burger, tots and tea were just over $15. My husband's lamb and naan (no drink) was $18. My impression is that it's expensive. My husband isn't interested in going back.

I had Noli’s Pizza two big slices and a Diet Coke it was about $16, It was very good. My wife had something from Kathmandu momo she also liked it and it was similar in price. The main reason I wouldn’t go back is if the food quality drops or it is to expensive. Right now I don’t see that being the case. So I’ll go back again.

I like the concept, but I still don't think that the average person is going to pay $10-15 for lunch. I went the the Indian place with my wife and our total for two entrees, a water and naan was about $28. (actually it rang up $41 and then I realized that the cashier rang up one of the entrees twice...at first I about died when I saw $41)

My wife and I love Inner Rail. Definitely a go-to place for young professionals. Cool, hip concept and the food and drinks are excellent. Kathmandu Momo Station is one of our favorites. Looking forward to the live music venue opening up across the alley!

Yes, the backside. It's all pre-fab so far, so it's going up fast.

In today’s WH Real Estate Transfers there is a listing for what I think is Pinhook, or part of it, (6349 Cedar Place) from Georgetown Aksarben LLC to Georgetown Properties LLC. Is this indicative of anything or just a normal ownership transaction?
