Re: Jimmy's All American Malt Shop and Grill (Manawa)
Earlier this year the powers that be in Puerto Vallarta closed a popular and very stylish outdoor food hall that consisted of 4 or 5 containers that housed food vendors. Within days the food hall was eliminated, and construction crews moved into the newly vacant mid block lot, of approximately 15 meters square. The crews worked seemingly day and night, and in about 60 days a posh multi level nightclub was erected, staff was hired and trained, and in April the doors were opened. Three or four months to completely transform the address from one purpose to a newly constructed two level nightclub, pouring overpriced drinks and playing music way too loud.
It goes to show that if people are motivated to build and open a business, anything can be built quite quickly.
(I asked my friend who lives across the street from the new club CO_DE how on earth the site got miraculously transformed so quickly, given the well earned reputation of Mexican construction projects being notoriously slow in being completed. He told me that the owners were from Mexico City, that they operate a string of these nightclubs across the country, and that they employ their own construction crews — engineers, architects, plumbers, brick masons, carpenters, electricians, etc. — so the work gets done “yesterday”. If they buy land on March 1 and they decide they want their project to be constructed and open by April 20 the construction crews all pack their bags and move to the city where the project is to be built, and they “get ‘er done.” City permits and inspections people adjusted their schedules to keep the property owners very happy.
As the club owners are “possibly” also in the “laundering” business, when they tell their employees to do something, the penalty for not complying can be very severe...)

Re: Jimmy's All American Malt Shop and Grill (Manawa)
Ok, here's a first-person report ...
Yesterday I was in Council Bluffs, as I was meeting some others later, and I decided to do some shopping at that exclusive boutique known as Target', which is properly pronounced with the accent aigu, of course.

Anyway, I found myself with about 1/2 hour to kill, and I also found myself with a taste for something yummy and incredibly unhealthy, and since I had just passed JAAMS on the way to Target', it was on my mind. So, I figured what the {heck}.
I had heard the horror stories of lines and slow orders, so I figured I would peek in, if the line was not too bad I would order something, but ask as to the wait time.
The line had only two in front of me, so I waited my turn and noted that the cashier did have a few issues entering the orders into the POS system and summoned another for assistance a couple of times. When I was next on line I overheard someone in the back remark that it was a 30-45 minute wait for orders.
When it was my turn I asked that if I just want something simple to go would it really be 30-45 minutes. She said no and stated that the kitchen was not yet up to speed and burgers and such were the only things with a long wait.
They were mostly full at the time, all booths full, maybe 1-2 empty tables and a few seats at the counter.
For dine-in orders they give you a number. For take-out they take your name. My order came up in maybe 5 minutes, so I quickly got my fix of two of the main food groups, calories and carbs!
When I left, the line was to the door.
Yes, they have an old Big Boy statue, but I did not get a photo of it, 'cuz there was a family there taking photos with it and I did not feel like waiting for them to finish.
All in all, it looks like a nice place and it will probably continue to do a good business as they get the bugs out.

Lotsa Disney and various film memorabilia, with a few vintage local shots and vintage ads in there as well.

Fried Chicken Hotline! Looks like some faux aging on the vintage-style poster.
You'll note that they feature such delicacies as funnel cakes, restrooms, and banana splits.
It doesn't really show that well in the photo but the juxtaposition of "Entrance Only" in the vintage Ewald's shot, and "Restrooms" was amusing.

It's weird that they are still having a problem getting basic food out like burgers.
I hope this place makes it but wow, what a rocky start.

Re: Jimmy's All American Malt Shop and Grill (Manawa)
We went to Jimmy's yesterday at 1:15. Very busy. Since we had a cookout the day before we weren't in the mood for burgers. So we ordered the cheese Frenchie combo. Found the last table available and sat down after ordering. In less than a minute the drinks came out in real glasses. In less than 5 minutes the meal arrived on a real plate with real silverware. Didn't have to get catsup or mustard since they were on the table. Very satisfied with everything. The combo was 6.90. And they clean up your table. Always a line of people coming in while we were there and everyone seemed pleased. Maybe they will make it.

Hes guilty. He has been doing bad things towards women since the day they opened and getting by with it. Finally the cops went after him and they got him cold. I posted one time here about a conversation I had with an employee who had worked there and quit for this exact reason. Not surprisingly my post was promptly deleted by a forum moderator!Omababe wrote: Fri Apr 03, 2020 8:38 am That's sad. The place looked promising the one time I was in there. I do hope that they are able to stay open, we went last fall and the food was really good. I also liked the concept and the look both inside and out of the building.

Looks like Jimmy's court case went before the judge this week and a decision was made today. Guilty of multiple instances of sex trafficking. Sounds like one crazy 71 year old man who is going to end up dying in prison. 4 counts of sex trafficking minors.......yeah he was a bad dude alright!

Well, they didn't make it. I ate there about 6 weeks ago after hearing from many that the quality had gotten terrible. Should have listed to those opinions. IT was nothing like it was when I went there when it first opened.
Drove by today and all of the Signage for Jimmy's were down. There were banners on two sides ( that I saw) that were larger and said "COMING SOON ?"
Be interesting to see what lands there and what the concept is

In December 2019, "STEVEN P LEVINE & DIANE R LEVINE" sold it to "EVANS ICE CREAM-MORE LLC". Do either of the rumors have any connections to Evans?EastCB wrote: Fri Oct 08, 2021 12:31 pm I've heard 2 rumors about who bought it. One is Doozies so they can have a year around location. Also, so the Jimmy's guy never owned it? The sale would have been right before he was arrested.

They might be related, but the owner of Primos has 11 properties in CB and they're all listed as Taylor Investments with a different mailing address than this property. Also has 2 in Omaha with the same, or similar, information.

Verde Investments appears nowhere on the other 13 properties that the Primos owner also owns in the Metro.EastCB wrote: Mon Oct 25, 2021 10:06 amThe Pottawattamie County Assessors website lists Verde Investments LLC as the owner of the building now.OmaJayhawk wrote: Mon Oct 25, 2021 8:10 amI'm not sure Verde Investments is the owner of Primos. NEVER. EVER…in the history of this forum has so much space been devoted to a specific business. This place took way more time to get constructed and open than it actually spent being open and serving food to customers. I can only imagine how much money essentially got flushed down the toilet.

Doozie's Homemade Ice Cream and Burgers - Former Jimmy's All American (Manawa)
Looks like we now know what is going on in the former Jimmy's All American Malt Shop and Grill location.
A couple of weeks back or more, I drove by, and some of the windows were covered, and there were work trucks in the lot. Today I drove by, and there is now signed on the building. Looks like Doozies Homemade Ice Cream and Burgers is taking up shop here. From pulling through the parking lot and seeing what little you can see through the windows, it looks like there is still work to do.
They have photos in the slide show of this location on their website also.
