Omaha Flag?

Has anyone else seen this yet? Saw a billboard off 108th and L advertising it.

Any idea who is behind this? Our current flag is horrible, which has been discussed on here before. I like the idea a lot, this is oddly similar to Milwaukee’s new flag, which I find a bit odd.

I thought Omaha's flag was a symbol of a pothole on an asphalt gray background.... no?

I can't imagine anyone cares much about a municipal flag. If you want to replace a flag then I'd start with our horribly unimaginative state flag (state seal on a field of dark blue... wow). I always thought Maryland, Colorado, New Mexico, and Alaska had very distinctive flags.

I’d want something more unique because it really is super similar to Milwaukee’s flag. But I like the idea of keeping it relatively simple. One of the hallmarks of good flag design is that a child should be able to draw it and the details should be distinct from far away.

I like the current one better. At least its symbolism depicts something noteworthy about the city.

I think the flag they propose is nice and simple. Could there be a better design out there, maybe, but at least they've produced something.

The current flag is a hard to see from a distance picture of people wanting so badly to leave Omaha that they would risk a high likelihood of death in a covered wagon with bad color composition on a generic blue background used by countless other cities and states. I doubt 90% of Omahans let alone visitors could pick it out of a line-up of similar flags and say it's Omaha's flag.
