Union President OFD
The union president of the Omaha Fireman's union, #385 was found guilty of an incident involving a black female at a local bar, but so far has kept his job as union president but still suspended from the Dept. while the City determines their next move. A arbitrator has said he is okay to go back to work. One of the things the union officer was accused of was saying "White Power" to the black female. Meanwhile, not one black fireman, all of whom belong to this same union have said one iota about this episode. Meanwhile the other white union members have fully supported their white president, even paying part of his Fire Dept. salary to him. One has to wonder, why there has not been more forthcoming about this, especially in this age and political climate.

The black fireman are not saying anything because they know that if they do speak out the odds are the only ones that are going to get in trouble are themselves.Fireman Freddy wrote: Mon Jun 29, 2020 6:23 am The union president of the Omaha Fireman's union, #385 was found guilty of an incident involving a black female at a local bar, but so far as kept his job as union president but still suspended from the Dept. while the City determines their next move. "Union" and "arbitrator" are the problems in this.

Re: Union President OFD
Let me understand ... you say the “black firemen” are not supporting him. Even though they had “not said one iota”.
And the other Union members must be all white, and they are “supporting” him.
No Asians? No Hispanics? I figured you would have an opinion about their silence too.
Regardless, that’s unions for you!

Do we really know all the facts here? What exactly was he found guilty of? Not near enough information here to form extended opinions as to what happened.

Omaha firefighters union president Steve LeClair has been sentenced to six months probation after pleading No Contest to misdemeanor charges of Assault and Battery and Disorderly Conduct. The charges were based on claims by a woman who said LeClair had hit her in the back at a bar. And No Contest is the same as GUILTY

Now any of you non firemen out there, try this and see what the courts give you. Helps if you have a Union Affiliated attorney with close ties to CREIGHTON UNIV.

Re: Union President OFD
6 months is about right for a first offense misdemeanor. The question is whether or not that was the correct charge or whether he got a sweet heart deal (plead down from a felony that would have been the normal charge.)Fireman Freddy wrote: Tue Jun 30, 2020 11:00 am Now any of you non firemen out there, try this and see what the courts give you. The moral of this story is if you go into a pick up bar called Tiger Toms you are asking for trouble. Both parties involved had no good business being in that bar in the first place.

Tiger Toms, both the old place and new place are Firmen hangouts. LeClair was there for a retirement party for another Fireman.

Guess I haven't been at tiger Tom's at the right time. Seemed like a sports bar to me the couple of times I've gone.

Tiger Tom's is hardly a "pick up" bar. It is a neighborhood sports bar that welcomes everyone.

You guys spin and twist the truth in this forum anymore to the point of infinity.
Was this whole thing not about some hot shot fireman who had his advances spurned by a woman sitting at a bar? He got his ego hurt so he tried to hurt her feelings to get pay back and then she tried to get him in trouble to get pay back and then blah blah blah. It was a pick up attempt that went awry at a pick up bar. If it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck its a duck.

If I was on trial for anything, I'm kinda hoping the judge isn't picking you for juryGrandpaaSmucker wrote: Thu Jul 02, 2020 12:54 pm You guys spin and twist the truth in this forum anymore to the point of infinity.

You better believe you wouldn't want me on your jury! You are a purveyor of dishonesty and falsehoods and I only deal in the facts and the truth.NUub wrote: Thu Jul 02, 2020 3:26 pm

Re: Union President OFD
I'd just hope I wasn't presumed guilty before any facts were presented. With that said I don't know enough facts about the OFD Union president to fully weigh in.
