They could of said something like "We are all members of the Big 10 family and you don't sue your own family!"

Hopefully they can start playing by Thanksgiving, as this option is now being discussed by the Big10. Using domes in Minneapolis, Indy and Detroit. The longer they go without playing the bigger disaster this becomes. I like the dome option and it seems like something that can work for a 8 or 9 game season.

If Scotty Frost and the players were even half as good at playing football as they are at talking trash and threatening to sue everybody.......then maybe we would have a chance to win a baby Rose Bowl this season. I would be thrilled to win that baby Rosebowl but we got no chance of winning that baby 2nd Rosebowl with this team of trash talking cry babies. We got no chance of even contending for that 2nd Rosebowl.

Winter football is a disaster of an idea with sports conflicts, locations, and recruiting. How, exactly, is everything going to be safeR two more months down the line than they are next month? The big 3 other conferences are going to be laughing at the B10 for being so stupid.

This is even more revealing that whomever made the decision is regretting it big time. We all know there will be almost no tangible improvement (at least not one that will make football any less dangerous) in the virus between Fall, Winter, and Spring. So really, It's have football or don't. I think that's why the other three are just going for it. Whomever made this decision knew that and moved a big PR chip into place that none of the other conferences bit on (we'll except for the Pac 12 we all know they'd buy it). They thought they would be the big piece to fall that would send all of the conferences into cancellation, but they were wrong. And now they are trying to find a way to backtrack without admitting they are "uncancelling" the season.

Exactly, There’s no guarantee it’s gonna be any better in the spring. That’s why they should move quickly and try to play ASAP and just move on from the poor decision. Already alot of time has been wasted, with nothing to show for it.

Big 10 cancel was all politics.

The PAC 12 cancel makes more sense. Two Zonie schools, Washington plus the 4 California schools ... all have been hot zones.

ESPN article, I know, never gonna happen, yes, but this guy is right. If only there was a way to cancel conferences for the season and let the schools that want to have at it, have at it.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... ealignment

Hypothetically speaking, if they were all in, who would be Nebraska's most suitable "regional bubble" opponents?

They seem to be pretty obvious as the nearest schools:

Iowa State
Iowa
Kansas State
Kansas
Minnesota
Missouri
Oklahoma State
SDSU

It would be very refreshing to see them play a schedule like this. They might be able to pitch an undefeated season with this schedule

And if anybody cares to, make a list of opponents that consists of the closest canceled teams that would actually be available to play this season (if their conference hypothetically allowed it). I'd like to discuss that too.

Honestly speaking Nebraska would be lucky to win 4 out of those 8 games. I would give Nebraska a win over SDSU and after that it gets sketchy real quick. Nebraska has little chance of beating Minnesota or Iowa. The only game you could give Nebraska for sure would be SDSU and make no mistake Nebraska is so awful anymore they are highly capable of loosing to SDSU. If Nebraska won 5 out of those 8 games it would be a pretty successful endeavor for us all things considered.

Why would they play San Diego State University before playing a Colorado team? Or Nevada? But I’m not sure they could stop the State running game.

LOL I was going for a Big 8 thing and accidentally made a Big 9 thing cuz I forgot about Nebraska. Oh well, eight games sounds better than seven.

As you know, college football teams can be very unpredictable year to year (aside from a few) but going based off of last year's results, all those teams had pretty good seasons minus Kansas. heck, lets add University of South Dakota (forgot about them) If you add USD, I bet you the Huskers could pull off a 2 win season.

On second thought, maybe that wouldn't be good. Let's not have that season.

Why would you add a JC team? Better off getting Coffeyville KS.

Anyway, best to add Colorado to the bottom. Easy travel. Television exposure.

Seems like the political angle appears to be materializing. Trump being pointed the finger at for the b10 shutting down football. Quite possibly the play to begin with when whitmer and klobuchar got involved. Imagine football going on in the other 3 big conferences and the frustration in the b10. Add media compliance in blaming Trump. Count the states in the big10 that usually go blue but in 2016 went red. Not supposed to be a political thread, but in this case politics are here.

If a college football season (or lack thereof) can actually swing a Presidential election this country deserves to burn to the ground.

I can hear Trump saying now "Russia if you have any of the e-mails that BIg 10 Commissioner Warren sent about canceling the season in order to make me look bad then please release them now."

This is the key takeaway .....

“The cages were considered rattled when the Big Ten’s attorney, Andrew Luger, said, “the harm would be incredible” if the board of directors’ (presidents) documents were released to the public.“

Tom Shatel knows if he told the fans the truth that it would make them unhappy. Tom Shatel knows that what sells is telling the fans what they want too hear even if there is not an ounce of truth or evidence to support it. Sean Callahan is just as bad. They both are good at their jobs which is to stroke the fans.

The most unbelievable nonsense of that article he wrote was this:

"Call it a coincidence. I say it looks more like the presidents are so protective of what might come out in a court discovery that they are willing to throw the parents and players a concession."

There is no real evidence to support any of Shatel's statement. Hes totally talking trash. The school presidents had their vote and it was 12 to 2. Shatel is a boob and a shill for the fans and he will be proven wrong here again just like he has been wrong every single year when he came out and told us how much better the Huskers were going to be. Shatel is good for nothing but laughs and getting paid for not really knowing what he is talking about.

Big Ten unveils 11-3 vote in favor of postponing sports as response to Huskers' lawsuit

The World-Herald confirmed the three dissenting votes in postponing fall sports came from Nebraska, Ohio State and Iowa.

League submissions indicated its decision was based on a variety of medical factors applying to all 14 schools, with two groups of experts advising. The Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors needs 60% approval on decisions according to bylaws, which it met in this instance (78.6%).

Welp... That's what'll happens when obviously Nebraska as a state is a little different from the majority of the others. I loved the decision to join the B10 when it happened because the Texas schools ruined the Big 12 as it was. But Nebraska has really struggled to truly fit in the B10. It's a strange time right now. I don't wish they were still part of the Big 12, nor do I like they are currently part of the B10.

I think they need to stay in the Big10 until they have some more success in the conference (at least another division champion) Then if the opportunity presents itself to go to another conference I would be fine with that. Because of Nebraska’s geographic location and small TV market it limits Nebraska’s attractiveness to other Conferences. The huge TV money payout in the Big10 would be hard to leave. The Big10 hasn’t been easy for Nebraska, the exact reasons still remain unclear.

The crazy thing is, Nebraska on a national scale still pulls in the ratings despite the slide on the on field performance.

Between the academic advantages of the Big 10 and being the richest league, I don't see NU ever leaving the Big 10.

It is crystal clear. Nebraska's last 2 coaching hires were disasters. We were hanging in the Big 10 the first couple of years with Bo Pelini at the helm. With Pelini we were winning more games then we lost in the Big 10. I was all for giving Pelini the boot right along with everyone else but we shot ourselves in the foot and we have suffered dearly. We need a coach who knows what they are doing and how to spot talent and next time we better remember not to hire a coach who has no experience.

Maybe in hindsight, they should have hung with Pelini, even though yes, he appeared to be toxic. I'm not so sure Mike Riley was the best solution to that problem... Could Nebraska have lived with Pelini through 2017? Maybe we wouldn't have Frost then. For better or worse, we don't know yet.

I can't see the Big 10 forcing NU out either. When's the last time that happened in D1? With all of the entanglements on both the academic side and athletics with grant of rights.

The B10 has become the shadiest conference out of the Power 5. The PAC12 canceled with at least some reasons given and, well, they are also west coast and are more than happy to run and hide from a virus that has now killed .0008% of the male population b/w 15-24 (177 out of 21,216,000), likely with comorbidities. Now they release a vote of 11-3 which appears strange as well as Minnesota & Mich St presidents both say it wasn't a traditional vote. The vote required would have needed 60% to postpone football meaning they needed 9. Absolutely ridiculous, blows up any rational brain when they say it's about 'player safety'. IT IS FOOTBALL, they have greater risks to health playing the game at all.

That's totally true. We have our disagreements about the covid-19 handlings in general, but the game is something we agree on. I've always thought people playing sports are generally not at risk playing the game itself as long as they are being tested regularly and are not allowed to inter-mix with the general public (parents, friends). The actual hard part has been keeping people away from the people and places they like/love... Some can take it, some can't. I think that applies to athletes and the general public.

As far as football goes, I definitely think players are more at risk in their daily/weekly interactions than they are in playing games. I guess we'll see how it all shakes out. The NBA did just fine because they were in a confined absolute space, the MLB didn't fare as well, but is still going along. We wait to see how the NFL and college football go.

Exactly the route the B10 should have gone from the start. Give it a go, if something goes awry then hit the eject button- if only for a week.

What has to be fun for Iowa is the fact that not only will Iowa St will be playing football this fall, but will be giving it a go with 25k fans in the stadium!

Yeah that was a big mess back in the day. When Big East had such internal issues between the football side of the conference and basketball. It's so far removed from where NU is with the Big 10. I'd take a bet on NU"s security in the conference.

As I believe it should be the entire season for every team. By all means play the games -- I'm all for it -- but do not invite people to watch in person. The NBA has done well, MLB has survived, one common denominator has been no fans. No fans = one (or 80,000+) less thing to account for.

What has to be fun for Iowa is the fact that not only will Iowa St will be playing football this fall, but will be giving it a go with 25k fans in the stadium!
ISU has reversed their decision, at least for the first game. There will be no fans in the stands,
As I believe it should be the entire season for every team. By all means play the games -- I'm all for it -- but do not invite people to watch in person. The NBA has done well, MLB has survived, one common denominator has been no fans. No fans = one (or 80,000+) less thing to account for.
On the other hand, I would love to see teams do it in an outdoor setting under capacity. If it goes well then the general fear of covid19 starts to develop serious cracks.
