Busguy2010 wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 2:36 pm I guess we'll see how it all shakes out. The NBA did just fine because they were in a confined absolute space, the MLB didn't fare as well, but is still going along. We wait to see how the NFL and college football go.
Exactly the route the B10 should have gone from the start. Give it a go, if something goes awry then hit the eject button- if only for a week.

What has to be fun for Iowa is the fact that not only will Iowa St will be playing football this fall, but will be giving it a go with 25k fans in the stadium!
ISU has reversed their decision, at least for the first game. There will be no fans in the stands,
As I believe it should be the entire season for every team. By all means play the games -- I'm all for it -- but do not invite people to watch in person. The NBA has done well, MLB has survived, one common denominator has been no fans. No fans = one (or 80,000+) less thing to account for.
On the other hand, I would love to see teams do it in an outdoor setting under capacity. If it goes well then the general fear of covid19 starts to develop serious cracks.
Because we all know there is no ventilation outdoors with the wind blowing at 25 mph.

More of a caution than a fear to me. Like when a street light turns red, seems pretty reasonable to stop... Or will I get ridiculed for that? Am I too afraid cars are going to enter the intersection should I decide not to stop? Maybe I need to let go of my fears, live on the edge a little.

Ah, but it could just be a flashing red. Stop, look, look again ... and go if no others entering an intersection.

Speaking of street lights, I do wish more were flashing red... But I understand why they are not... Because there's a good deal of people who can't handle that responsibility, simple as it may be... This is why we have to have a mask mandate, because people can't be trusted to do the correct thing.

Looks like an 8 game Big 10 football schedule with an October 17th start date..

This will be interesting if it comes to fruition...

With all the rumored facts that have been out there for a while know, I will not believe anything until there is a B1G kickoff for the fall. Granted, there is a little more meat on the bone here but still, need to prove it is happening.

Looks like a done deal now- breaking news from the W-H-

“Nebraska football is back on for the fall after the Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors voted to restart the season with a target date of Oct. 24, according to multiple national reports. Nebraska officials did not confirm the news Wednesday morning.

The league was expected to announce its decision Wednesday morning.“..

So the season is back on now. Time to move on then. How many opponents of this special virus edition 8 game season can the Huskers win. Five wins and three losses would be absolutely impossible for this Husker Team. 5-3 is not going to happen when you got a schedule made up entirely of Big 10 teams. 5-3 will never happen. There is little or no hope this Husker team can even win half the games. We will have had a good season if Nebraska can go 4-4 but the reality is that is not happening. The next step down and the most logical season results would be 3 wins and 5 losses. It is just about guaranteed that the Huskers will win 2 or 3 games this season and no more. I will predict the Huskers win 2 games and lose 6.

The only winning bet this season is to find out which company is doing the COVID19 antigen testing and then buying their stock. 120 guys getting an antigen test every day before practices and games? 6 days a week (one off for rest), x 120 guys and another 20 coaches and staff, that is 840 test kits a week x 12 weeks (preseason practice and then one post season game) 10,080 test kits just for the Husker football team. Add in Vball and the Bball teams and you are looking at 20,000 test kits this season.

Let's call the AWP on these kits is $4 per, that is $80 grand of income. I like the odds.

It is a 9 game season if they can all be played not 8. Go do the "fact-checking" and you will see this.

It is a 9 game season if they can all be played not 8. Go do the "|expletive|" and you will see this.
Technically an 8 game regular season PLUS-ONE game --- "Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez — in charge of the league's scheduling committee — said the league would play an eight-game regular season schedule, followed by a "plus-one" game in which the Big Ten East and West Division champions will play each other for the league title, the second-place East team will play the second-place West team, and so on."

Also, no fans in the stadiums- from the W-H-

“But, as part of the Big Ten’s vote to return football on Oct. 24, the league presidents and chancellors decided there would be no fans inside league stadiums outside of families of players and staff.

Memorial Stadium is typically the state’s third-largest city on football Saturday. This fall, at least for now, the population will be closer to Seward.“..

Well, the Big 10 didn’t do the Huskers any favors by having them open with Ohio St and Wisconsin..

It’ll be a miracle if NU pulled 4 wins out of that schedule..5 wins and it might mean Scott Frost would gain consideration as Big 10 coach of the year...

I think it might actually be beneficial to play those teams early. Better to catch them with rust on em. Rust should benefit the lesser team. Plus they have over a month to prepare.

Tough schedule for Nebraska. 3-5 seems a likely outcome, 4-4 I would be very happy with. Glad they decided to play hopefully all goes well.

The Big 10 was looking out for Ohio State. Ohio State needed a cupcake team to get warmed up on to start their run for a National Championship. The Nebraska players and coach have been talking trash to the Big 10 so why not throw them into the lions den right off the bat. Ohio State needed an opponent to serve as their standard opening day 70 to 10 whipping dog and Nebraska fits that bill perfectly. Maybe at half time when Nebraska is down 40 to 10 the players can get their lawyers to file a lawsuit against Ohio State to stop them from running the score up to 70.

Frost won't be winning any coaching awards this year but he will receive the get out of the hot seat free Covid 19 pass to use as an excuse for a shameful pathetic 2 or 3 win season. The Virus saved Frost from scrutiny this season but next year he will be in the hot seat for sure.

Let's be honest... 0-8 isnt impossible on that schedule.

NU is all of 5-4 against the Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern trinity the last three seasons, and 1-12 against the rest of the group, with one win over Minnesota to brag about.
Stable genius.

Agree 0-8 is a real possibility. But 2-4 wins could also happen. Just don’t know anymore with them because it’s been so long since they’ve had a good team. They are used to losing, so it’s easy to just pick them to lose all the time and you will probably be right 😄.

I’m not trying to be a “Debbie Downer”, but I think 4 wins is highly unlikely given that schedule..5 would be a miracle..

I’ve got to agree with Smucker, I only see 2 or 3 wins here..

I hope we’re both wrong...

The more I think about it, and after gpa's and BigE's comments, the only game I actually feel good about as a win is Illinois. Purdue and Northwestern are tossups that they just might split or lose both (hurts to say that)... Then the Skers will likely be reaching to beat Iowa and Minnesota... And the rest are just straight losses.

Hope we're wrong too.

4 wins in the bag. Is NU getting better? Only Slightly. But 4 of the teams on schedule are not getting better.

They win 4 of last 6 games

I was reading the article about Athletic Director's Bill Moos in the paper and I saw there were 26 comments posted. I thought I would see what was on the folks minds. https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/footba ... e=comments
It would seem many people share my embarrassment of the representation that Moos and Frost are giving Nebraska. Tough schedule or not Moos should of just shut his yapper after all that stink Nebraska has been raising.

I got to hand it to the guy who made this comment.

"LARRY SEGER Sep 20, 2020 5:54am
Poor Bullwinkle. He’s sad because he went zero for three. He should cheer up. He actually went one for four. When the serious scheduling discussions began they sent him out with their lunch orders and he brought all the food back with no errors. Well done Bullwinkle! You are the man! This “good team with a great football coach” is about to go 2-7. GBR. Getting Beat Regularly"

These 'fans' care very little about the fact that Moos was a major factor that the b10 (and probably pac12) are playing any football at all. Which they are rewarded by getting thrown under the bus by the league with 5 teams worthy of preseason top 25 rank. Wouldn't be sad if they did someday tell these wannabe ivy Leaguers to suck it and leave.

Sometimes you have to be careful of what you wish for. No pain, no gain though. If you want to be the best, eventually you’ll have to prove you are.

I think people are forgetting the schedule is the same as the original one minus Rutgers. Trading Ohio State for Rutgers doesn't give them a clear path to a playoff berth like a lot of people seem to believe. Might just make it a 2-6 season vs a 1-7.
