Yeah I hope they won't lose any ground in the rankings. If anything I hope it fires them up for the NE game.

There is definitely no shame in losing at Kansas, but if they hit some more free throws, which they usually do, the game is Creighton's.

At least this wasn't anything like the San Diego St game last year where the Jays got blown out.

Much more competitive this year. Jays only up by 4 at half. Game is pretty ugly with a ton of fouls being called.

Jays are blowing this game open now. They were on a 23-2 run and now lead by 22 with 7 min to go.

Kind of the opposite to the way the game went last year as the Jays blew away the Huskers in the first half..

This year, NU hung tough and was only down 4 at the half, before getting blown away by the Jays at the 10 minute mark in the 2nd half..

Not surprising..

Onto the Jays starting Big East play on December 14th...

I was a little worried for a while, with NE being more athletic than their past teams, but the true NE basketball showed up in the 2nd half. They are great athletes but need to learn to play together. Creighton showed how that works as the most often do. There is not another team that plays better "team" basketball than Creighton in the past 7-8 years.

Imagine if Creighton would have taken Kansas to OT and beaten them. CU would be top 5 or higher.

I am still impressed and very much looking forward to the rest of the season for the Jays.

Jays fell one spot to #9 this week in the AP poll. Glad to still see them in the Top 10 (as they should be) since their only loss was by 1 @ Kansas.

Jays started slow against Marquette, but Mitch Ballock came to play in the first half. He has 17 already including a buzzer-beater 3 to end the half.

That play should be TOP 10 on SportsCenter. Jays had 3 sec left and looked stalled, Antwaan Jones had a behind-the-back pass to Mitch in the corner for the 3!!! Unbelievable!

No Problem. I'm listening to the game on the radio while editing photos. As soon as it happened I was already looking for it to see it myself. And the twitter plugin for this forum is the single greatest function Coyote ever added.

Jays blew it badly in that second half. That was inexcusable. I really, really hope this game humbles them and brings them back to concentration.

Wow..

Tough conference loss for the Jays. Marquette simply outplayed CU in the 2nd half.. The silver lining is, this loss is early in the season. Plenty of time to learn and grow from this one.. And also, hit your free throws for goodness sakes!...

And play defense. I know the Jays will probably never be good at rebounding, but if they could just fix the free throws and defensive intensity even a little then they'd be fine... that and Zegarowski needs to get back to being Zegarowski consistently.

The Jays really, really needed a better Non-Con, but stupid Covid got in the way. They've lost against the two decent teams they've faced this year, and that just isn't good. They needed a longer runway to prepare for conference play and dropping out of that tourney and not facing enough mid range to tough competition hasn't prepared them well.

I have faith they'll get it mostly fixed, but yikes, the time to go is now...not tomorrow.

Yeah horrible focus and intensity. I still think with fans, the Jays don't lose this game. But their FT shooting was atrocious. Both losses due to missed FTs.

Marquette is a good team though and also beat WI this year.

I have the same faith. Like I said earlier, the good news is we’re only 6 games into the season..better to have a clunker now, than during the conference stretch drive in February. My hope too, is the free throw woes from last night are an anomaly..and not an indicator of a season long struggle to come..

Big game for the Jays this Thursday at St Johns..a team CU struggled mightily with last season...

Yes, I am little worried about St. Johns too. It seems their long athletic players give Creighton fits. I am not sure who all is back on their team, but at the end of the reg season last year, St. Johns beat Creighton by 20. Granted they hit 11-20 from 3. Hopefully that doesn't happen again, but the Jays did allow Marquette to shoot lights out on 3's last night.

I forgot the next game was St. Johns. If the Jays play the same way, and St Johns plays with the same scheme they did last year, I firmly expect the Jays to drop to 0-2 in Conference play. They really needed to hold home court yesterday, I don't understand why they are so snake bitten against Marquette.

Actually the Jays had won 3 in a row against Marquette even with Marcus Howard there the past few years. (of course TyShon shut him down and we no longer have TyShon) Before that MU won that one game in Omaha where CU was winning and had something like a 99% of winning. One of the Hauser brothers had a buzzer-beater that never should have counted.

So recently, CU has done a decent job against MU.

I agree about the Jays needing to step up though. Zegarowski is preseason player of the year and he hasn't played like it so far, granted he is coming back from injury.

Prior to the three in a row, they lost the prior 6 if I recall correctly...including the aforementioned heart break loss(es). So, in the last 10 they are 3 and 7. I guess I was thinking more long term.

If you're curious about Creighton's all time records versus teams (I found this as I was making sure I saw/remembered right): https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/sc ... -head.html

Kinda neat to see. It looks like it might not include some exhibition games in the overall record.

Sounds like the NCAA is going to approve the waiver today so that transfers will not have to sit out a year.

That is great news for Creighton and Alex O'Connell (Duke transfer). He may be able to play as early as tomorrow night vs St. Johns and not have to use a season of eligibility.

Creighton is a 6 1/2 point favorite at St Johns tonight. Creighton seems to have been cooling off so betting on Creighton might be risky. Creighton was favored by 8 points at home against Marquette and we know how that turned out.

Yeah not quite sure how this game is going to turn out. St. Johns seems to give Creighton fits with their athletic players. Hopefully the Jays come out with more passion on D for this game. The D seems to spark CU's runs and is a major key to their victory.

Also will be nice to see Alex O'Connell get a few min now that he is eligible.

Excited to see this. It says that season ticket holders are going to get an email tomorrow with more details, but it will be based on the points system on a game by game basis.

Tonight's Jays game reminds me a lot of the Marquette game. Come out strong and up big only to give the lead right back. Thankfully tonight the rebounding is much better for the Jays.

Jefferson was 2 assts shy of a triple-double.

Also forgot to mention Alex O'Connell did get to play last night and finished with 6pts, 2 rebs and an assist in 12 min. That would be great to get those numbers from him to give the starters a blow during big games. It is also important to have a seasoned veteran on the floor to help lead when the starters are out. Reef is doing ok, but not quite playing up to expectations for his role this year.

Creighton started strong, but has looked terrible in the last 6 min of the 1st half. Thankfully they are up 4, but the have had 9 TOs in the first half. Got to clean that up and go back to playing Jays ball.

Wow!!! What a comeback, Jays took control in OT and won 76-74! I thought for sure this was going to be a loss but thanks to Z and Mitch shooting 5-6 from FT in the last min, the Jays held on to win.

yes, at the end, but still only 15-24 for 62.5% for the game.

This game shouldn't have been this close, the Jays should have expanded the lead to 20 in the first half and they let Uconn back in and almost lost this one.

Great road win for the Jays to win an ugly game though.
