We should know by Wed AM if it is going to be played (guess) I feel like it is still a 50/50 that it is played.

With the way teams rotate between almost every play...it's likely that the majority of those 20 players see multiple snaps a game.

The oddsmakers have moved the points up making the Huskers an 11 point favorite as of today. It would seem that without the virus factor that Nebraska would be lucky to win this game. So just who on the Gophers team will not be playing Saturday is the question. It looks like we will not know who is playing for Minnesota until Saturday. That makes it tough to predict who is going to win this game. We need to at least know their quarterback situation to attempt to predict the outcome of the game. Is Minnesota going to show up with a 4th or 5th string quarterback?

Talk is we might be playing Wake Forest in the Mayonnaise Bowl   I will feel safe if predicting that this could be the last bowl game we play in for another 5 years!

Kevin Warren just royally stunk it up at every turn in his handling of this season.

We're not playing... Oh wait yeah we are.

But you have to play at least six games... Unless you're Ohio State.

If only he would have allowed teams to schedule other conference games in place of canceled games, he could have avoided looking bad again, but here we are again showing bias for Ohio State again. But why make them play another game they could potentially lose when papa Warren can just change the rules that he made to help his favorite child? SMH

Northwestern vs Indiana probably would be a better game. Only part that makes this somewhat okay is that Ohio State did beat Indiana already.

The Big 10 got this 100% right. There was no reason to stick to the 6 game rule when the "V" has exploded and cancelled games right and left like it has the past few weeks. We had our little season here now lets have some fake bowls and some playoffs and move on to next season which is going to be a Covid mess to navigate as well.

Yep, I agree they got it right. The problem is how they got there. I elderly senior citizen wandering around an unknown building in dark hallways could have maneuvered this better.

This one is really hard to predict. Really absolutely nothing to go off of. Only thing I can really say is Minnesota's QB and RB and WR have been exponentially more productive than the 'Skers this year, in one fewer game. The Gopher defense must be really bad then. Remember they lost to Michigan (2-4) and Maryland (2-2) and got obliterated by the same Iowa team the 'Skers put up a valiant fight against. Add in the fact that they hadn't practiced in the weeks leading up o this game, plus they are probably decimated by COVID, AND they are now without their star receiver. I actually am liking the odds for a Husker win now all things considered. I think it'll be close though. 35-31 Nebraska

The 2 Nebraska turnovers will probably end up costing Nebraska the game. I’ve been watching B10 games for a while now and Big10 teams normally don’t commit a lot of turnovers, except for Nebraska. Nebraska always has a fair amount of turnovers. It’s Hard to win in the Big10 when you are on the short end of the turnover stats week after week . This loss , Iowa and Northwestern were all winnable games. Frustrating being a Husker fan.

I didn't waste any thought predicting this game..

But, this might be the worst loss of the Husker season..

Against a Covid depleted Minnesota team, they lose the turn over battle, play lousy defense in the clutch and lose 24-17.. Minnesota was the stronger team up front..

Pathetic. Simply pathetic. But-

Not surprising at all...

I don't know. Of the games I've watched this year, this was the most fun watching the 'Skers offense drive down the field in two consecutive drives down 10-0 to go up 14-10. That actually showed a lot of promise. Martinez was on fire for about 15 minutes of game clock and the offense was humming for those drives. The defense was good enough until Cam Taylor-Britt got ejected, and then the offense reverted back to what we're used to.

Unfortunately the game is 60 minutes. I actually left the house after they couldn’t score when they were inside the 10 in the second half. This all falls on Frost

Agreed..

Different game, different date, same silly mistakes and lack of execution..all against a Covid weakened Minnesota team..

There is a reason most NU fans have become numbingly apathetic to these repeated performances..and why Scott Frost and select players sound like a recording during post game press conferences saying “we’ve got to get better”.. Yep..Heard that 5 times already this season..

Again, pathetic.. But at 2-5 now, not surprising at all...

I don't think I've seen a coach more disconnected from reality than Frost. He seems honest in press conferences instead of usual coach speak. So Nebraska really just had their best week of practice? You complete that swing pass 40 straight times in practice but throw it backwards the first play of the game?

Nebraska is a complete mess for the foreseeable future. Unless Smothers is an elite talent, they don't have a QB who can run this offense. Every other area of the team is also pretty bad. So after 3 years, we're looking at a 2nd Frost rebuild just to become competitive. That's if he's even willing to make significant changes. His buyout is about $35 million. And it sounds like any head coaching change would first require a new AD. I guess we just have to hope the higher-ups prevent any more extensions from being given out.

I get it, it was a typical Frost style loss. But there were a lot of positive plays on the field today... Honestly some things I hadn't seen in maybe ever. To go down 10 to start, Frosts fault, but also to almost immediately take a 14-10 lead was also pretty dang good. Yes the game fell apart at some point, but it could easily have been 38-3 had we not seen some of those stellar plays made on the field.

I'm in the camp of this season shouldn't count against them.

The special twist the Covid would present to this game was .......Can a superior program still beat an inferior program if over 20 of its players are out with the virus. We found out today that yes the superior team can still win especially as long as they still have their starting quarterback and running back. Next year after a long losing season in late November the Huskers will travel to Minnesota and lose for the 3rd year in a row. Scott Frost will have lost his last game and by December 1rst Scott Frost will have been fired.

The Huskers losing to a team down 33 players due to Covid was an absolute embarrassment for sure..

But remember, Frost and Moos are joined at the hip. So if the 2021 Huskers don’t deliver a minimum of 7 regular season wins, then both Frost and Moos would have to get the hook. Moos will not fire, nor survive Frost..

If this team doesn’t show regular season winning progress in 2021, the NU administration will have a potentially very costly decision to make indeed..

I hope it doesn’t happen..but at this point I have to admit, that’s the direction we appear to be headed...

How soon until Frost gets booted? If next season is yet another less than mediocre one, people will get tired of the excess.

Solich was fired for doing better. Different AD, but still better results.

Welp... Looks like last place Huskers (2-5) vs last place Michigan State (2-5) next week playing to decide who is not the worst team in the Big Ten. Has a nice ring to it right? No chance they get selected for a bowl game. Had a chance before their loss yesterday to be 4-4 and possibly look good enough for a bowl. But... Nobody wants to see that.

On a side note, I hope the Big Ten does the +1 game every year going forward. I really like that idea. Play to decide 2nd, 3rd and so on.

Almost not really worth getting upset about Nebraska football anymore. Moos and Frost are gonna do what they want to do and aren’t going to listen to anyone’s ideas or advice except maybe from their inner circles. At the end of the day they have fat paychecks and in the big scheme of things that’s all that really matters, to provide for your family. Which they are both doing quite well, GBR !

From today’s W-H-

“One of the best stories of the 2020 Big Ten season — the rapid improvement of Rutgers football — will get tested by Nebraska in the Dec. 19 crossover the game.”..

The complete W-H story link:

https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/footba ... op-story-1

I’m seeing Dec 19th and Dec 18th.. So to add to the utter confusion this 2020 Husker season has provided..There is not 100% confirmation on what day this game will be played at this point. Not that it matters really...

My guess is that the powers that be find the Vedral story intriguing, but I see he was injured yesterday. Also the BIG is using this weekend to reschedule previously cancelled rivalry games, so a lot of the games are not matchups of teams that finished in the same place but in the opposite division.

I don't mind that they are going outside of what was the stated parameters of 1v1 2v2 etc. down the line... But they should have said "we'll schedule whatever matchup we want". Its almost like a bowl game outside of bowl season. I still like it. I could totally support a "championship weekend" where its 1v1 and the rest is a free for all. It could actually really benefit (or hurt) some of the 2nd & 3rd place teams in terms of national rankings.

Nebraska comes out as a 5 1/2 point favorite over Rutgers with the under/over 56 1/2. Have to think about this one but my first impression is that it is ridiculous for Nebraska to be favored over just about anyone.

I've seen alot of people wanting to throw this season out and not hold it against Frost and company when evaluating his tenure. I'm willing to do that, but only to a small extent.

Now that another losing season is guaranteed, 3 straight under Frost and 4 overall, I see this season as the equivalent of a holding call on 3rd and 10. Next season will be 3rd and 20. Depending what happens, it could be 4th and long going into Frosts year 5...or, Nebraska may have to make a tough decision to punt after year 4.

I just don't see how any coach could survive a losing season next year, even if he's the hero native son. At some point, this is a mess you can't recruit to.

I’ve been saying the same thing for about a month now..

2021 is a season if a fully played 12 game regular schedule is on the menu, then Frost must show winning progress and I believe 7 wins is the mark. Anything less simply doesn't show adequate progress and would equal 4 straight non winning regular seasons.

I want Frost to succeed. I don’t want to see yet another coaching change..but if we get another 4-8, 5-7 or even 6-6..It’s time to make a tough decision. And that decision involves the future of Moos too because he and Scott are tied at the hip...

Moos will retire before he gets jettisoned
For the record  NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER    !!!!!!!

I like this analogy a lot. Next year is 3rd and 20. If he can knock 10 yards off in 2021(by winning 5 or 6 games) he will get one crack at 4th and 10 for the 2022 season. But that year he has to get 10 yards (at least 6-6) to save his job. At least that's all I think it'll take to get his first down. How much better or worse than 6 wins he gets next year determines whether he has to win 6 games or 9 games in 2022 to keep his job. I just think they have to go for it on 4th down no matter the distance. Not enough time left in the game to punt (aka fire him after next season). Oh and a darned signature win doesn't hurt. Eeking one out at Wisconsin or handily beating Iowa out for once would certainly help his situation.

It is all but guaranteed that the Huskers will not win even half of their games next year. The only real question next year is will the powers to be let Frost stay and continue to burn Nebraska to the ground even after he has lost most of his games for 4 years in a row?

And they have to win next week. Losing to Rutgers would be a new all-time low. Seems like they've been hitting new all-time lows a couple times every year since 2017.
