Holy |expletive|. They actually hit free throws at the end.
yes, at the end, but still only 15-24 for 62.5% for the game.
This game shouldn't have been this close, the Jays should have expanded the lead to 20 in the first half and they let Uconn back in and almost lost this one.
Great road win for the Jays to win an ugly game though.
I'll take any win, any way. Onwards and upwards.
In a conference as tough at the Big East, I’ll take any Bluejay win and don’t care how ugly it looks..
Onto a hugely important Wednesday Christmas Eve eve (December 23rd) home game with undefeated Xavier..who is fresh off a last second victory this weekend over Marquette...
Creighton is a 7 point favorite over Xavier today at 2pm. Considering that Xavier is undefeated with 8 wins in a row it would not be safe to bet on Creighton. Creighton will be doing good just to win this game.
Creighton guts out another victory 66 to 61. What a strong win against a good Xavier team. Winning when the game isn't pretty (i.e a slugfest) is a huge thing to see.
What an ugly 2nd half that was...neither team could hit a shot. Glad to see the Jays pull out another close one. Z and Ballock need to get it together, the past 2 games, neither one is helping the team much with their horrid shooting and missed FTs.

Definitely a slow start out of the box for CU and 12/13 point hole.. Credit to them for battling back..
Xavier is a very good Big East opponent so it was important for the Jays to defend home court this afternoon.. Nice, important conference win...
The Jays did everything they could to give this game away to Providence in the final 2 minutes..
Stupid fouls, turnovers and (once again) missed free throws gave the Friars the opportunity to tie or win and they took advantage..erased a 6 point Jays lead..and tied the game with 7 seconds left- exciting finish with the Bishop dunk with .08 seconds remaining to win the game..
67-65 Jays..
While I’m happy with the win and it’s another huge road “get” for CU.. I’m a bit disturbed with the way they came back to play and finish after a lengthy holiday break. These free throw misses absolutely MUST get cleaned up..and they have to play smarter in crunch time..
I know Providence has been a tough out for the Jays and again, very happy for the win..But CU has quite a bit to work on to become the complete Elite 8 team many of us believe they can be...

I don't like how they gave the game back after being up by 12-13, but the officiating in the 2nd half was horrendous.
There was a play on offense where Ballock was driving to the hoop and his defender fell and put his hand on Ballock. Ballock didn't touch anyone at all, and the ref called a hook call. I re-watched the play 5-6 times and there is absolutely no contact from Mitch. This was just one of many phantom calls.
Glad to see the Jays could overcome the foul problems and poor FT shooting to pull out another close win.

Here is that offensive foul they called on Mitch (his right hand is dribbling and his left hand is straight in the air):
What makes it even a worse call is that the ref 3ft away didn't call it but the one 15ft away did. The Jays were up 7 at the time and this gave Providence some momentum to get right back into the game. I know Creighton won, but calls like that drive me nuts. If anything, it should have been a flop warning on the defensive player. They did call that in the UCONN game against a UCONN guy twice and he got a tech for it.
They are now ranked #5 in the Coaches poll, highest ranking in history (although they shouldn't be ahead of Kansas who has beaten the Jays and has the same record)
Hopefully Creighton comes ready to play...I hate Kevin Willard (Hall's coach) He was the coach whining after Creighton unveiled their Big East Championship banner last year. He is such a baby and whines about every call. Just watch him on the sidelines.
They have Creighton as a 3 to 5 point favorite at home over Seton Hall on Wednesday night. Creighton was favored by 5 in their last game and only won by 2. Seton Hall has 2 guys that are at least 6 ft 10 and one guy that is 7 ft 2 which means if Creighton goes cold on the 3 pointers it could be tough to score. Too close to call or bet on!
The Jays completely blow away Seton Hall 89-53.. Easily their most complete game against a quality opponent this season. Tremendous defensive performance and a great shooting display in the 2nd half,.
This gives us a glimpse of the type of dominating team the Jays can become. They just need consistency..
Next up- St John’s in Omaha this Saturday at 11am...

Jays up 11 at the half- 37-26..
Ziggy with 2 fouls lead to some good minutes for Shereef in the 1st half and DJ with 16..
Let’s see if CU can keep their feet on the pedal and beat Seton Hall going away...
Ciao..LiO...Peace
Not only did they keep the feet on the pedal, they hit the afterburners. What a butt whooping.
Absolutely! Loved it.. I was quite worried about this game.. With 15 minutes left in the 2nd half, the game was over. Tremendous performance..Especially on defense...
Wow, what a game. With 3 min to go in the game, CU was shooting over 70% in the 2nd half. They completely blew SH out. Complete team effort on offense and defense. Creighton finally had a great night shooting and they gave Hall their worst loss in 15 years!
I don't think anyone expected this outcome tonight.
