Amazing first half by the Jays. 15 assts and 56 pts. Last 2 halves of basketball for the Jays. 52 in 2nd half against Hall and 56 in first half today. Also outscored opponents 108-66!

The Jays once again allow their opponent to make things uncomfortable by allowing them to whittle away at a big lead.. St John’s Capitalized on missed free throws and turnovers by CU..and hitting the offensive glass..to cut a 19 point lead down to 10/11 with 3 minutes or so left..

I won’t over react to this one though. The Jays likely got a bit disinterested.. CU ended up pulling away at the end. I hope Shereef is okay. We need his help. Sounds like it might be his ankle..good time for a week off to heal up..

6 straight Big East win for the Jays-

97-79 CU...

Another big win for the Jays with a week off to rest for the next game @ Butler.

This was yet another team win to do it without Z and still be up nearly 20 all game.

Good news about Shereef.. Post game, coach Mac said it was a minor tweak of his ankle, and he should be okay after a couple days..Ziggy’s hamstring sounds like it’s not too serious either..

Perfect time for a week off..

Next Jays game- Saturday, Jan 16th at Butler...

Jays actually fell one spot to #8 this week. Not saying that is a bad ranking but find it ridiculous that they blew out Hall by 36 and beat St Johns with Zegarowski by 18 and still fell one spot.

The struggle is real for the Jays in the 1st half at Butler..

No Ziggy.. Poor ball movement, cold perimeter shooting, bad turnovers and untimely fouls contributing to a pathetic CU offensive performance. Give Butler credit, they’re playing very good defense and playing the Jays tough..

CU has never lead in this game. 32-25 Butler at the half.

The Jays had better pull their heads out, or will be victims of a horrible Big East road loss against a sub .500 team...

The officiating has been atrocious so far...4 Jays with 2 fouls each, meanwhile Butler shoves and pushes Kalk and Bishop with no calls. Creighton needs to toughen up and bring it, but the officiating has to even out some in the 2nd half.

There has been no hustle from the Jays so far today.

Wow..

Another sub par performance by the Jays, especially down the stretch. After coming out strong in the 2nd half and building an 13 point lead, CU then allows Butler to go on a 15-2 run and cut the lead and then tie with 3 minutes to go. 4 awful Jays turnovers contributed to the Bulldog run.. 62-62 end of regulation.. CU scoreless the last 6 minutes of the half and zero offense from Mitch Ballock..

More inconsistent play in OT. The Jays build a 4 point lead, commit turnovers/miss perimeter shots and Butler regains the lead..

Free throws also kill the Jays in OT. DJ gets 2 FT’s to tie and take the lead, chokes both..

70-66 Butler.. Yes, the officiating was sketchy at best.. But that’s not why the Jays lost this game. Lack of hustle, turnovers, lousy perimeter shooting and missed free throws. Horrible HORRIBLE loss on the road against a sub .500 Butler team...

That was a horrible, horrible loss. Apparently they forgot to wake up after their weeklong hiatus in a place that has never been good for the Jays. They need Marcus back to right this ship. Blowing that huge lead was just unfathomable.

Outside of Mahoney's play, no one brought anything today. No excuse.

The officials refused to review a shot clock violation at the end of regulation that would have given the Jays the ball with 6.2 sec left. Sure, they would have go down and make a bucket, but that call is absolutely mind-boggling.

Mitch Ballock needs to be much more aggressive and shoot the ball.

I know rankings don't mean much but what upsets me off is that Michigan lost big today to Minnesota and Kansas and Texas both lost this week as well. With a win, there was an outside chance to move up to #5 and our highest ranking ever.

Be interested to see how far the Jays fall in the polls this week. Honestly, they should remain in the top 15 for sure but we will see.

2 huge home games for the Jays this week- Wednesday night against Providence and Saturday against UConn..

If the Jays win those two, they’ll likely find themselves back in the AP top 10.. But they MUST play smarter and more consistently down the stretch..and need to get point production from Mitch Ballock. Getting Ziggy back to run the point is also key..along with hitting our dang free throws...

Having Zegarowski back will be huge...being the great shooter he is will open up the middle of the lane more than Shereef or Jet Canfield can.

I am finally going to a game tomorrow night (my birthday) hopefully the Jays can get things back in shape.

Creighton is a 10 point favorite over Providence Wednesday night. Looks like a sketch bet either way you go. Creighton should come back home after losing in Indiana to Butler and blow Providence off the court. Just the same 10 points is too much so its a risky bet.

Creighton was favored over Butler by 6 1/2 points and they ended up losing straight up. The good news is Butler is better then their record indicates and they have gave good teams trouble. There is no shame losing to Butler in overtime in Indiana. Just the same others did not see it that way and Creighton's status dropped a few notches.

The important thing for Creighton right now is to keep winning games so that they get a high seed at the Big Dance. The entire tournament is being held at sites in Indiana this year thanks to the virus. This means Creighton could be playing any team from anywhere in the first round unlike years past where geographical location factored in to who you might play. Right now a 10 dollar bet on Creighton to win the Big Dance will win you $150. Before they lost to Butler on Saturday that same 10 dollar bet would of only won $70.

They just announced that tomorrow's game time has been moved from 8 to 6pm. I am glad for that since I am taking my 6 year old daughter and now it won't be 11 before we get home.

As for attendance capacity, I believe its the same as the other games that have allowed fans. 10% of capacity, which comes out to around 1,800.

I'm glad they moved it. Those 8pm start times are a killer when having to wake up early for work.

In other news, Tennessee (#6) gets absolutely destroyed by Florida. At least the Jays' losses have all been close I suppose.

I was just telling my wife the same thing. Jays losses (@ Kansas by 1, Marquette by 5 and @ Butler by 4 in OT)

When you look at other teams, Michigan lost by 18, Kansas has lost by 12 & 25, WI lost by 23, Iowa has lost by 11 and 7, VA has lost by 23, W VA by 14, Ohio St by 17.....and these are just other teams in the Top 15.

So Creighton definitely has that going for them in that all of their losses have been close with 2 of them on the road.

I am curious to see how far TN falls after that loss, they haven't played anyone all season except for a 20-pt win against Missouri.

Yes. A complete mess of a loss indeed..

Not much else to really say..

The positive is, there is a big piece of this season left..and a goodly amount of time to regain their focus and edge. A win at home this Saturday against UConn would be a perfect deodorant..It would be sickening to come out of Saturday’s game with 2 consecutive conference home losses...

It smells like the typical mid-year slump, which I was hoping they had finally gotten over and wouldn't happen this year. Wouldn't surprise me to see them completely bomb out against UCONN.

I kept optimism for half the year at least, holding out hope that goof ups like Kansas and messes like Butler were anomalies.

A mid-year slump came to mind for me too. They had one of those slumps last year and finished the last month of the season strong. The Jays win at Villanova really seemed to be a catalyst which boosted their confidence. Sweeping UCONN with a win this Saturday would be a good start- plus we still play ‘Nova twice. This can play out 2 ways obviously. My fingers are crossed 🤞 we see a repeat of last season...

This season is far from over, but tonight was ugly. In my 15 years of owning season tickets, tonight might have been the most lethargic and horrible start Creighton has had. They were down 6-22 8 min into the game. Thankfully they didn't give up and battled back many times, but they were never able to tie it up or take the lead. I was hoping for a win for my birthday, but this was horrible. Ballock and Mahoney were absolutely terrible, 2-14 with 7 pts between them (0-8 from 3) With the makeup of this team, if 3's aren't falling it is going to be a long night.

The one bright spot for the team was DJ scoring a career-high 26.

The bright spot for me was my daughter getting on the video board with 50 sec left in the game.

Hope the Jays forget about these 2 losses (first time in over a year they have had back to back losses)

And remember, 2 weeks ago the beat Seton Hall by 36 and then St. Johns by 18 (without Z)

They are in a little funk with 3pt shooting and hopefully they can find a cure soon.

That schedule would not bode well for Creighton. After winning 2 games Creighton would then have to play Gonzaga which is as tough as it gets.

Creighton is a 7 point favorite today over U Conn. After the last 2 games there is no way it would be safe to bet on Creighton to cover.

Creighton looks horrible yet again in the first half. They were up 25-15, but now only lead 29-28 at half. UCONN has 11 offensive rebounds and the Jays have just 12 total rebounds.

At least Ballock finally made a 3, but this team just looks lost.

Me as well, a season sweep against a Top 25 UConn team that is probably going to finish the season strong if Booknight can come back soon.

Mahoney had a great game. Each time UConn looked like they might go on a run, he came down and hit a big shot.

I’ll take the win and the season sweep of a good, ranked UCONN team..

The Jays didn’t play their best basketball..but this was a game they needed to win, badly, at home..

Again- it wasn’t perfect by any stretch, but I’ll take it...
