Nebraska goes down to Penn State 83 to 86. Nebraska was behind most of the game and often by more then 10 points but at least they fought back to make it look respectable at the end.

Re: Nebraska Basketball 2020-2021
Looking at kenpom.com rankings, the thing that jumped out to me about Nebraska is that they have played a top 10 opposing schedule, and are ranked 348th out of 357 teams for luck. From what I understand of Luck in kenpom's system, it "is the deviation in winning percentage between a team’s actual record and their expected record using the correlated gaussian method." (https://kenpom.com/blog/ratings-explanation/)
So, basically, even talking into consideration all other factors, how has a team performed? kenpom suggests that Nebraska has lost a lot of close games they should have won (which is fairly obvious), also looking at their top 5 SoS rating, the _entire_ Big 10 is in the top 21 of Strength of Schedule.
I think Nebraska fans' frustration with where their team is should be obvious, but also shouldn't the recognition that with a complete roster turnover, brutal schedule related to SARS-CoV-2, and the strength of the Big10 this year give some leeway. Hoiberg's system is close to either paying off and crashing and burning, and unlike say my beloved K-State Wildcats where it is clear their coach's tenure has bottomed out, Hoiberg seems to have his guys on the upswing. I think there is the potential for a great Nebraska team in 2-4 years if Hoiberg's recruiting pays off.

This is a great point. Could not agree more.
Teddy Allen had a game for the ages last night. Not only 41 points but 8 rebounds and 6 assists to go with it.

Nebraska has won 2 Big10 games here at the end of the season. If they could win a game in the Big 10 tourney they could back out of this season with a half ounce of dignity!

Teddy Allen leaves Husker men's hoops team
Chris Basnett
The Nebraska men's basketball team announced Monday morning that leading scorer Teddy Allen is leaving the program.
Allen will stay at Nebraska through the spring semester to work toward graduation, but will no longer be with the team he said, as he prepares for his future in basketball.

Rutgers is a 8 point favorite in Lincoln tonight. The points started out at 6 and then jumped to 8. Tough bet as always but I would take Nebraska getting 8 points.

He had the game where he was suspended for one game, then has the 41 point game, and trailed off in the week since. Strange few weeks leading up t this.ita wrote: Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:57 am Teddy Allen leaves Husker men's hoops team

If you had me predict one player before the season that would not finish, it would have been Teddy based on all of his movement before this year.

Huskers have now won 2 in a row. $10 dollar bet right now for the Huskers to win the Big 10 Tourney will get you $10,000.

Good read by Shatel. One thing I keep thinking of with Allen (who's obviously extremely talented), is that for the Huskers, this is addition by subtraction:

Nebraska will be going for 3 wins in a row over in Iowa tonight. Iowa is a 17 1/2 point favorite. Got to love Nebraska getting 17 1/2 points. A $10 dollar bet on Nebraska to actually win the game gets you $100. A $10 dollar bet on Iowa just to win gets you 00.40 cents!

I am assuming the $10 getting you $100 is without any point spread, it's for a straight up win?GrandpaaSmucker wrote: Thu Mar 04, 2021 11:25 am Nebraska will be going for 3 wins in a row over in Iowa tonight. Re: Nebraska Basketball 2020-2021
Picking the right side on Nebraska games has proven to be much harder for Basketball then it was for Football. I have managed to win most of my Husker Basketball bets but they have got me a few times. 16 1/2 points is certainly a sweet cushion to have but it ain't worth nothing if the Huskers are going to show up so out of sorts that they let the opponent run up 100 points on them.

This year, if I was betting I would always give the points and take the opponent, especially with NU having to do this condensed schedule.

Huskers lose a heartbreaker today with 2 seconds left against Northwestern. Nice 2nd half comeback wasted.

Re: Nebraska Basketball 2020-2021
Miles left Nebraska with absolutely nothing in the pantry. After 2 years of Hoiberg's expert recruiting we still have absolutely nothing in the pantry. Hoiberg has bombed bad in the recruiting department. If Hoiberg's recruiting skills don't get a whole lot better fast he is going to get blown off the court in years 3 and 4 too. In fact its pretty safe to say he is going to get blown off the court next season. He has not found even one single really good player!
Enough of that reality stuff for now lets be positive. Just a $10 bet on Nebraska to win 5 games in a row to claim the Big 10 Tourney championship will pay you 10,000.

Nebraska just signed their first ever 5 star recruit, Trey McGowens. On Rivals their class is ranked #26. Hoiberg has definitely upped our recruiting game. Now it just needs to show it on the court.GrandpaaSmucker wrote: Mon Mar 08, 2021 10:53 pm Miles left Nebraska with absolutely nothing in the pantry. Penn State is a 7 1/2 point favorite over Nebraska on Wednesday night. Nebraska has covered 4 out of the last 6 games. I would take Nebraska getting 7 1/2 points. Penn State has looked bad at times including losing to the lowly Huskers so yeah we got a chance of winning this game.

Great 1st half but NU's lead pretty much evaporated a couple minutes into the 2nd. Definitely ready for a more normal year with Husker hoops next year.

With Creighton losing their top recruit today (most likely due to the recent issues with McDermott), Nebraska moves up to #25, as Creighton falls to #34.
I don’t remember a time NU was this high in recruiting rankings for basketball.

"Can Nebraska reach the middle of the Big Ten pack in 2021-22? Check back in a month, as the answer may depend on how many Big Ten seniors choose to return since the NCAA is allowing all to do so."
We don't need a month to answer that question. No way in any shape or fashion will Nebraska be in the middle of the Big 10 pack in 2021-22. Whether the senior players on any team stay an extra year or not does not have any significant thing to do with the fact that Nebraska does not have one single really good player on the whole team.
