Sorry I missed that. So impressed with KC’s new owner. Takes over team with billion dollar purchase. Immediately loses any chance of ticket revenue. Then pays all of his minor league players their full season salary, no layoffs in KC personnel. They have been active in free agency, including signing Greg Holland today. Plus putting money into the stadium

Would have been easy to dial back spending this year, and put off stadium upgrades for a year or two.

It will be nice to see some new teams come through Werner Park. I asked if there would be inter divisional play and I was told that the schedule will likely come out in the next week or so, but that the first year is likely to be just the divisional teams, subsequent years would be determined at a later time. Although, not sure how that works as the division has 7 teams and it would require someone to be off every weekend in the absence of inter divisional play. It would be nice to see the Yankees and Red Sox affiliates come through. Teams that we've really never seen here.

I will say that it's cool to see some of the American Association teams back. I remember Louisville and Indianapolis coming through all the time. But, I also remember play outside of the league in the late 80's. My first ever game at Rosenblatt, and I still have the ticket stub, was a game against the Toledo Mud Hens. I believe it was 1989.

KC Royals News: Hunter Dozier isn’t going anywhere
Perish any thoughts that Bobby Witt Jr., or anyone else for that matter, will squeeze Hunter Dozier out of Kansas City. The KC Royals and Dozier are reportedly in agreement on a multi-year deal that will keep Dozier in the Royal fold for the foreseeable future.

The Royals have wrapped up Hunter Dozier for the next few years. It’s another solid sign that the team means business.

Storm Chasers' season opener pushed back to May 4

https://omaha.com/sports/baseball/storm ... _OWHsports
OWH wrote:The delay, according to MLB, will increase the likelihood that minor league players may be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine before heading to their assignments this spring. As a result, major league teams will use an alternate training site for Triple-A players at the beginning of the big league season, which will allow for a quicker and safer process of replacing players on MLB rosters.

Due to the delay, the Storm Chasers are now scheduled for 60 games at Werner and 120 overall.

I am happy KC signed Dozier. Will be interesting to see if they get Salvy signed to a new deal. I hope so.

A little bummed the Chasers don't start until May now, but the weather will definitely be better. I really miss going to Werner Park.

It's going to be interesting to see where the Royals place Bobby Witt Jr. It would not shock me to see him in NW Arkansas, Omaha or KC. Over the winter I would have predicted NW Arkansas at least to start the year. But wow is he producing. I don't put a ton of stock in spring training numbers but his are hard to ignore right now. Nice homer last night on MLB Network game against the Dodgers.

Biggest contract in Royals history. So cool to have Salvy staing. He looks to be a Royal 4 Life.

Nicky Lopez got sent down to Omaha. Merrifield will be KC's 2nd baseman to start the season. Lopez needs to improve his bat because his defense is awesome.

The Royals have been supposedly negotiating a long term deal with Mondesi. Hoping the $'s aren't too high as he has had consistent injury issues.

Is that because the season started late and they are just bringing the total games to the number that they usually have?

I don't think Triple-A is having playoffs, so why not add a couple series at the end.

Catcher MJ Melendez who is leading all levels of the minor leagues just got promoted to Omaha. With Mondesi here on rehab and Witt Jr and Pratto (both played in the futures game and are in MLB's top 100 prospects, with Witt at #2 overall on one list and #5 on another), the Chasers have some crazy good talent right now. Didn't even mention they also a top 100 pitcher too, Jackson Kowar.

Not sure how much longer Witt will be here. He's tearing up AAA. Won player of the week award:

Omaha Storm Chasers announce 2022 sked:

https://www.milb.com/omaha/news/storm-c ... 2-schedule

Still mainly 6 game sets with Mondays off except for July 4. A few more teams from the east on the schedule too.
