That sign has never come down as I drive by it a lot and live very close. I have not seen anything to indicate that is not happening. They have not been on any planning commission or city council agenda to withdraw anything. The original planning document had some grading starting in May per the Gantt chart. At this point, I would say it will happen on nothing other than gut feel. The stage times we are in can create an understandable delay.ChadJK wrote: Sun May 17, 2020 8:25 pm Is BDC commons still happening? The rumor mill is that the Gretna Pizza Hut location will be closing permanently. They are still listed on the web site as temporarily closed. Who knows but I have not seen them busy for a long time.

It will be interesting to see as new places open the impact it has on existing. Some will be fine due to population growth but I am sure others will lose out to new competition.nebugeater wrote: Mon May 18, 2020 9:35 am The rumor mill is that the Gretna Pizza Hut location will be closing permanently. IF the local places in Gretna have a quality offering they will survive. There is enough demand and enough people that go to West O that Gretna fan absorbed some new places with existing closing. Again, if the exiting has a quality offering.Greg S wrote: Mon May 18, 2020 10:03 amIt will be interesting to see as new places open the impact it has on existing. A positive sign on this development when I drove by last evening. The whole area had been overgrown and it has now been mowed/shredded down. There are also a LOT of survey stakes now set that are new in the last day or so.nebugeater wrote: Mon May 18, 2020 9:34 amThat sign has never come down as I drive by it a lot and live very close. How funny. Similar to Greg, i was just reading an article last week about how millennials and gen-z'ers don't play golf in the same numbers that previous generations did/do and that's hurting country clubs and golf courses. Will this course just end up taking paying golfers away from Tiburon, Shadow Ridge, and Iron Horse?ita wrote: Tue Jul 14, 2020 2:11 pm This OWH article was mostly about a golf course designer/builder, but also revealed a golf course project he is working on in Gretna.
I was told that will be a Burger King.

Perhaps BOTH are coming. Seems silly to build a Taco Bell across the street from a Taco John's. Though, McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's have been doing it to each other for years.damonhynes wrote: Mon Aug 03, 2020 1:40 pm That was my first thought, but dauughter went by the TB around 180th and W. Re: Development in and around Gretna
What is being built is Taco Bell. They have had banners up that say now hiring and the TB logo on them by the building site for at least two weeks.
There is currently no second site with any indications of a BK also being built.
The first rumor I heard from reliable sources that has their finger on things was that it was going to be a Taco Bell. A few weeks after that someone posted on Neoghboroohs and other places that it was Burger King. This person that posted tries to present themselves as a connected person and it took off. WHileBK is a possibility at some point I have been locked into this being Taco Bell from the first I heard after the construction trailer was there.
Isn't this a "real" problem

The word is that Freddies fell through. This matches with a story in the Gretna newspaper recently. The developer said that the Fast Food place that was orinally close did not close the deal and they were getting close with another option. If you look at the web site for the development it was updated in mid-July and shows the Restaurant pad as available and the grocery and gas stations as not availablenebugeater wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2020 12:18 pmThe info I have is Fairway, Casey's and Freddies Frozen Custardcchandler790 wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2020 11:29 am I have heard that gretna will be building a new stand along grocery store right across from goodwill. That is correct and I think it is more than a rumor. They have been working inside for a couple of weeks. They have a now hiring sign up in the window too. Another piece of the debate is if there is a new franchise owner. The quality and Esp. the service had fallen off the cliff in the last couple of years.ChadJK wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2020 10:59 amLatest rumor is that they're reopening this location.nebugeater wrote: Mon May 18, 2020 9:35 am The rumor mill is that the Gretna Pizza Hut location will be closing permanently. The signs never came down on this location. Based on a couple of people I know I am confident that the plan to permanently close was real. The location had despaired from the Pizza Hut Web site after saying it was temporarily close for a LONG time. We will see what the situation is when they reopen but I am confident that they are opening again.

Re: Development in and around Gretna
Have heard a rumor over the last month or so that Gretna Ace Hardware is moving locations. This last weekend I was in there and I believe the guy that helped me was one of the owner's family so I asked about the rumor. He confirmed that they will be moving to where I had heard they were going.
They will be moving to the building that now is the home of McKinney's Grocery store. The Store owner is retiring and second hand I have heard that there is a lot of updating that needs to be done. About a year ago he had the business on the market and there was an investor that bought it with a lease back option. The investor has sold it and eventually, the grocer will close and Ace will move in. I was told timing is probably a year from now.

Fairway is coming and announced. I read between the lines and from some vaguely answered questions that the timing for McKinneys to close is partly out of the desire to have a local grocery and they do not want to close until Fairway is open. Likely late in the year.Louie wrote: Tue Jan 19, 2021 9:27 amAnd that clears another competitor of a Gretna Hy-Vee.nebugeater wrote: Tue Jan 19, 2021 8:29 am Have heard a rumor over the last month or so that Gretna Ace Hardware is moving locations. HyVee will be there too. They have a construction trailer on-site at 192nd & 370 for their announced Gas station/convenience store. No announcement yet on a grocery store there but it will happen IMO.

The Good Life is also opening a Gretna location. Not sure if this has been mentioned here and I didn't look back.
They are doing the grading now and some underground work. Guessing it will be open by fall in a brand new facility. If you know where Mcdaro's is it will be across from this on the other side of the access road that takes you into this area.

I am not sure what lot 4 can be really useful for.

The Fareway construction has been started for some time.
They did an official groundbreaking last Tuesday and here is the Coverage from the Gretna Breeze.
Says the store will be about 21,000 Sq Ft. Anyone know how that compares to the others in the area?

Construction gets underway at Gretna Crossing Park
Here is the park project's website: https://www.gretnacrossingpark.com/
There a nice video of the rendered park on the website.
This is old news, but the first time I've heard about it in this past Grow Omaha show. There will be bike paths connecting this project and Nebraska Crossing.Rachel George
A groundbreaking was held May 4 at Gretna Crossing Park.
The massive park project will include the existing fields, trails, a fishing pond, a multi-million dollar aquatics and recreation center and much more.
Grading, roadway and utility work is underway and expected to continue through August 2022. Capehart Road improvements are set to begin in March 2022 and run through November 2022.
Work on the ballfields and passive park will begin later this year in September and continue through April 2023. The community recreation and aquatics facility work will also get underway in September and continue through May 2023

On the Agenda for the Spet 21 Gretna City Council meeting, there is an agenda item for a brewery / tap room.
Here is what the agenda item says

Not the first location I would think of for this unless it ends up being a brewery only to sell elsewhere

When I think Gretna I always think of that section of Hwy 6/31 from Hwy 370 to about Schramm Rd. However, they could just as easily be going to 168th & Giles.
