For like the 56,724th time in the past decade WOWT's Weather Computer is down. David Koller loaded up all the graphics on his Twitter page and between the WOWT website and his Twitter page, he pulled off a full weather segment.

I know politics has ruined Twitter for a lot of people, but if you are not in to politics, Twitter is such a powerful platform.
It’s been a bust for the two times I have tried it. First as part of Skywarn to get spotters out faster. Then as part of a work project. The speed of the alert wasn’t appreciably faster and the half conversations were intrusive (you would be friends with one person and get every semi-related call he got in a way that I could not tell if I was just getting it by mistake or by intent. Work project ended mercifully but OMG was the BS politics thick on that. Couldn’t just use it for the project, I had to be “gang tweeted” by left wing hot heads who would go on rants because the day ended in Y. The side traffic killed it for me.

The politics happened after I was gone and the censorship has destroyed any interest of mine to try it again.

Not TV... but it appears that Chris Baker is no longer with KFAB. Had some rather racially insensitive material on his Twitter regarding the Chauvin verdict.

Baker has always been overly opinionated. Wasn't a fan. But I also find Todd n Tyler to be jackasses too. Haven't partaken in those clowns for at least 15 years. Making fun of a wheelchair bound person stuck in the snow at a crosswalk is beyond tasteless. On another attempt to listen to them, they made fun of the lisp that a caller had that phoned in to call them out on something else that they did.

This guy is a full fledged closet Klu Klux Klan racist monster. Shame on KFAB for giving him a place to spew his hate and insanity on a daily basis. This guy should of been fired years ago. The amount of damage and misery and pain caused to our area by the hate and stupidity and racism that this guy has been spreading for years is incalculable. What he tweeted yesterday actually was not even close to the worst things we have seen out of this man.

DaLaun Dillard leaving KETV

It’s my last day with KETV NewsWatch 7— and Omaha thank you for everything! This city and news market is such a slept on gem!! I’m SO grateful that God led me here and allowed me to experience it.

I’ve covered some WILD stories, worked with some amazing people (who I will seriously miss) and I’ve met so many of YOU out in the community!

Thank you for alwaaaays loving on me, supporting me and uplifting me whenever y’all see me in public, it keeps me going. Most of all thank you for allowing me to tell to the stories affecting you! I got in this business to be a change maker and I’m grateful to say some of my stories here actually created change.

I will miss this community so much. Thank you again for all of your love and support.

It seems like this guy just started at KETV.. Now he’s bailing to Ohio..

Most who are hired at KETV these days bolt as soon as their first contract expires..That’s what happens when your market is used as a mere pit stop to something considered grander...

KETV has always been bringing in very talented people, so it's no surprise that they get offers from bigger markets - in this case, Cleveland.

As for KFAB, what's surprising is that somebody there actually got fired. I stopped listening to them when they lost the Husker contract, as outside of GrowOmaha, they've been tough to listen to for nearly 20 years.

Shoot, if I were that young again and in a career where I was being paid to travel across the country, I'd jump on it. TBH, at my age, if I were single I'd still do it.

I don't know if you call it cursed. Baker was on it 8-9 years, and I thought he was the worst person currently on KFAB. Never understood the attraction or how he made it that long. Even more so, how did he used to be a comedian? I never ever found him to say anything funny on there.

That is interesting and no I did not know that. If that is true then that makes the matter even more sketchy. We don't want to beat up a business here but the paradox is disgustingly obvious. We have a business built around providing an experience of food, culture and traditions from Mexico that is advertising on a radio show that is attacking and disparaging immigrants from Mexico. If the restaurant owner is not even Hispanic then another level of exploitation might need to be factored into the matter.

Is Willie Theisen Italian? We can analyze the roots of the every restaurant founder if we want to. If Fernando's has good food, I don't care if the owners aren't Hispanic

My husband is friends with a next door neighbor of Mr. Baker. On the morning following the jury verdict in Minneapolis the neighbor watched the Baker family load up a bunch of suitcases and other belongings and leave their Millard area home. They hadn’t returned as of yesterday.

And Fernando’s, in my opinion, offers neither Mexican food or good food in general.

He served time had a radio show in MSP in the past, apropos of what I don't know but it's a data point.

Also, Jim Rose and Otis XII had a nice FB war going late last week which was entertaining. Most of the bomb-throwing was deleted, sadly.

Going to take |expletive| for this, but after my wife died, that radio show was a daily dose of jokes that made my day a bit brighter on the way home from work. Mostly, the Meghan Bird bit called the “Wide World of Wack”. Actually sad that it’s gone, though I understand completely why they fired him and have no disagreement here.

Another one leaving KETV. James Wilcox is leaving the news business:

Sometimes in life you have to make a change. I'm about to make a big one. The end of the month will mark the end of my time at KETV and the end of my 22-year career in television.

I started in this business when I was 16. Now at 38, I'm finding myself curious about what else is out there. News has been been life and I've loved it. This is the start of a new chapter. If you want rewards you have to take risks. I'm doing that.

KETV is an amazing station. I fought for a job here. Hearst Television values quality journalism and those who do it. I’ll always be grateful.

STAY TUNED - I have a lot more.

Has anyone heard of KFAB is putting Josh Odson in the chair or not? Last week it was some right wing chick that was as exciting to listen to as watching paint dry and today they had some dude that claimed to be from Omaha and was interviewing some tin foil hat author and was even more boring. I tried to call them and email them about their plans. Their phone line does not answer and they don’t seem to have working email.

Given that I need something to listen to that is distracting and funny to get my day of work off my mind, I could use some drive time suggestions. If KFAB continues with these boring right wing hosts, I will be a former listener.

I don't think you are going to find a middle of the road talk show. They are all left wing loons or right wing loons.

Baker when he first started, Steve Brown most of the time, Becka at the beginning. I think Fred Conley had a show for a while--Sunday afternoon when six people were listening.

Looks like Jennifer Griswold is about to leave the news industry as well and go to Minnesota:

https://www.linkedin.com/posts/jegriswo ... 09760-XsE_

FORREST
I'm pretty tired. I think I'll go
home now.

It feels a lot like that. I just made a choice one day. I guess it had been building. The industry has changed (it's always changing). The hours have taken a toll. But I don't blame the business. Journalism and television news are passion-driven careers. You wouldn't work these hours and struggle with low-paying jobs and moves to unknown places unless you were motivated by something inside. I've always said I couldn't imagine doing anything else. Recently that changed. I do see a next chapter. It's pretty blank right now, but the papers are in place.

Nothing major happened. I didn't have sleepless nights. No one told me to get out of the business. My current boss, station, coworkers and company have been nothing but supportive. I just decided it's time to go home. The Wisconsin girl in me is a little pained seeing me say home, but Minnesota feels like home. It was that way ever since I arrived there in 2006. That feeling became stronger when I met my husband and his tight knit family and friends. And now when I think of the best place to raise our family, it makes sense. I love Omaha. That will never change. It's a great place. It has everything, but we're missing the people that truly make a place a home.

So what's next? I'm not sure. I'm looking. I'd love your help! Communications, marketing, public affairs, media relations. I'm a strong writer, confident spokesperson and an incredibly hard worker. I'm looking to take what I know about media and mass communications to help a business or non-profit. That's vague on purpose. I think I know what I want, but I'm open in a very exciting way. So please, help me find a job in the Twin Cities! We'll be moving in late summer. Let me know if you have questions on openings at my current station too.

Just like Forrest I don't know what's in store, but I believe my television news days are done.

FORREST (V.O.)
And just like that, my running days
was over.

Hmmmm..

Maybe she’s being honest and transparent..But-

How much do you want to wager that once Griswold bails on Omaha to “home” in the Twin Cities, she does find that new job- In Television News media right there In Minneapolis-St Paul  .. The pessimist in me doesn’t buy what she’s selling here..

I actually hope I’m wrong. While not holding my breath at the same time…

I'm happy for her and hope that she doesn't go back into TV. Can't blame her--having to regurgitate that virtue-signalling that Scripps shoves down the throats of their station staff would drive me to heroin.

I think she's got a good chance at getting into PR/corp communications, especially in MSP.

She was my favorite 10pm anchor in Omaha. Sounds a little like burn out to me, guess you can’t blame her. Hopefully she finds what she’s looking for in Minnesota. I think the pandemic made a lot of people re-evaluate their situations. And make some changes they maybe wouldn’t of done a few years ago.

I hope you guys are right in your belief Griswold is being honest and transparent.. But I can’t help but think it’s all a front for escaping “Omaha” for “home” in the Twin Cities..then landing an anchor television gig there..

In any case, she has/had a good on air presence and delivered the news in an honest and clear way. Omaha is losing a very solid professional in Jennifer…

This industry is not kind to women as they age. Look at the local female anchors over the years. As they age they all seem to end up in other jobs.

Julie Cornell being the exception. Props to Channel 7 on that. Male anchors don’t seem to have to face this reality.
