Thanks for sharing that! The one at Southport is insanely busy during the day; lots of traffic headed to (and off of) the interstate at that ramp and it's the only gas station/convenience store without driving further away. In the morning it's full of trucks from the industrial park east on Giles (Eyman Plumbing, Thrasher, etc.) and the same is true at lunch. Not surprised it went for so much more than the Harrison location because most of the people from those crews are in the store buying high-margin items (though the gas pumps are busy too).
I am kinda surprised no one else has built on another corner of that intersection given the business the Fantasy's (now Casey's) does. Seems like a QT or a Bucky's would be a goldmine.

The Southport store has a goldmine due to getting Baxter/Performance's business, too.

If Bucky's and/or QT build at I-80 @ Harrison/Giles, they'll have along with K&G roughly three stores each in the space of four interchanges if you include L Street. Don't know if that's too many. All I can tell you is that Giles is getting to be a PITA to navigate, which is a good problem for La Vista but a problem nontheless. I can see LV 6-lanes+turn laning Giles all the way from Harrison to 72nd, and it'll be a bear of a project because the traffic lights don't line up with the lanes as it is.

ATTM, there are two within a half-mile along Cornhusker in Papillion, either side of 72nd.
Spaustat would either buy surrounding parcels or pay the site developer a bunch of money to keep other gas stations from being built in the immediate vicinity.

There's been an Access Realty banner up in the east suite for some time, only difference is that there are beer banners up as well.

The Casey's at Southport in La Vista is doing the same thing. They are adding hot food/pizza kitchens to all the Phillips 66 stations they just bought out.
I haven't been to any of the Fantasy's --> Casey's locations in the metro yet, because they didn't quite look like Casey's and I had assumed they were in transition from the look of it. Been to the established small town locations plenty of times in the last year... Their pizza is a great bite when you need something to eat and your options are kinda slim (i.e. in small towns). It will be interesting to see how a saturation of Casey's pizza will work in Omaha.
Agree Casey’s pizza isn’t bad if your looking for inexpensive pizza. Getting to be more and more Casey’s in Omaha. I remember when Omaha had just a few.
The Casey's location on north 156th toward Bennington is still fairly new and just gets swamped with pizza orders. The quality of their pizza here on several occasions has not been at a level with Casey's usual standard. I think it is because the staff is just so rushed. I feel sorry for them.
It is all so subjective but Casey's is a pretty good pizza. There are times when I just want it over all others. Not every night mind you, but there are times. I like that they're part of Omaha's pizza fabric.
My old signature got too old. So old it was getting almost as old me as me. Yeah, it was up there in years.
It's not Dante or Spin or Mama's. But that's not their peers. I think of Casey's this way: it's carryout/delivery pizza, so in Omaha their competition is Dominos/Pizza Hut/Papa John's. I don't know if it's better or worse than any of them. It's fine. No such thing as bad pizza, after all, just levels on the "good" scale.
But if you're buying it by the slice? Their competition is HyVee Gas, Kum&Go, Bucky's and QT...and it blows all of them out of the water IMHO. And their breakfast pizza is easily a top three guilty pleasure. It was the #1 thing I missed when I moved from Iowa to go to college here 20+ years ago, before they started moving into the metro with their first store (I think) in La Vista. Pretty sure my roommates thought I was nuts for driving to CB on occasion to grab a slice or two.

Hmm, It must be its own thread cause I didn't see mention of the Bucky's sale in this thread... But anyway, how long ago did that happen? I've been kind of surprised they haven't switched the Bucky's on 77th & Dodge yet. Seems like its been quite a considerable time since that was announced. Thought they'd be switched over by now.

I don't think the deal actually closed until 1st quarter this year.

Yeah, and then the deal was held up by the FTC until Wednesday of this week when Casey's agreed to sell off the six locations that were deemed monopolistic. I'd bet there will be a changeover pretty quick now that they've secured regulatory approval (unless they have to wait for the sell-off to Western Oil to close first -- but either way that's why the Bucky's locations are still Bucky's).
Casey’s General Stores will have to sell some of its locations in Iowa and Nebraska to satisfy antitrust allegations.
A complaint sent to the Federal Trade Commission said the company’s acquisition of a Nebraska Convenience store chain would create a monopoly in parts of both states.
Casey’s is selling six stations - five in Nebraska and one in Council Bluffs.
Three of the six were already part of the company, with the other three part of the latest acquisition.

Last weekend the 13th and Pierce location was stripped of all Casey's signage and product. And now Speedee Mart signage is up. RIP Casey's pizza downtown.

OTOH, the NE-50 @ I-80 Bucky's BP is unchanged, there's even a poster advertising "Bucky's" jobs. Guess BP isn't as concerned as Shell is about terminating their agreements.
Just notices today that the canopy over the pumps at 77th & Dodge are in transition. Still has Bucky's signage on the building and no Casey's signage that I could see yet, but the colors are changing. Don't know how long it's been like that.

Casey's recent acquisitions in Omaha has resulted in them having locations oddly close together. For example, there's one at 71st & Cornhusker in Papillion and another at what would be 73rd & Cornhusker (in Papillion, west of 72nd it's E 6th St not Cornhusker Rd).
That said, for gas station pizza, it's pretty darn tasty. Especially when it's fresh out of the oven. When we're on road trips and getting hungry I'll look for a Casey's that is 20 or 30 minutes away in the direction we're traveling. Call in a pizza order and then we'll pull into town just as it's coming out of the oven. Then we're driving down the road eating hot fresh pizza and the whole process took maybe a 5 minutes stop.
Casey's pizza is good, but hopefully someday we will get Kwik Trip/Kwik Star's in Omaha. They are based out of LaCrosse, WI and actually have a full bakery where they freshly bake everything. Their stores are the cleanest convenience stores that I have ever seen. They are a little more full service with their offerings including pizza, chicken sandwiches to go, donuts they bake, and all the other gas station food, but also a pretty good selection of grocery store food as well.
They have expanded to western IA near Sioux City and Des Moines has a few as well. I talked with a clerk when we were in WI last month and she mentioned that they are looking to expand into NE as well. Hopefully soon!!

It pains me as a native Iowan to say this, but Kwik Trip/Kwik Star has lapped Casey's at this point and anytime I'm somewhere that has both, I stop at Kwik Star 100% of the time. Casey's is still better at pizza and donuts, but Kwik Trip/Star is flat-out better at everything else. Kwik has a ton of decently-healthy options -- including produce that isn't sketchy looking! -- and their bakery is tremendous.
Casey's is a gas station that happens to have pizza. Kwik Trip/Star is like a small grocery store that happens to have gas pumps.
100% agree about the Casey's/Kwik Star comparison...although I think Kwik Star has way better donuts. I know that Casey's acquired a bunch of the Bucky's stations and it will be interesting to see if Kwik Star could come in and take some of those over.
I really think Kwik Star has a unique business model relating to their baked goods. They basically only have stores within a day's drive of their facility so that everything gets trucked out daily and remains fresh.
