I thought I had read a couple years back, that the FB Giordano’s Omaha page was a phony and that Giordano’s had nothing to do with it…

I don't remember reading that, but you're probably right about it being phony...the "job application" is probably just another clever trick of some identity thief.

Exactly..

I’ll go through the posts here. I believe one of our members discovered, maybe 2 or 3 years ago, that this Giordano’s Omaha FB page was not valid and posted the intel in this thread…

To follow up on my last post- Check page 4 of this thread- my fellow Moderator and friend Brad posted on 2/5/2019- it was discovered that Giordano’s Omaha FB page was a fake. Any info you pull from that page is phony and not coming from Giordano’s

Here is the 2/6/2019 W-H story quote/link indicating the Giordano’s Omaha FB page has no affiliation with Giordano’s-

“If you saw a post online today from a “Giordano’s Pizza Omaha” Facebook page, or maybe shared it on your own timeline, take note: The page isn’t actually affiliated with the deep dish pizza chain’s Chicago headquarters.

“It does not have any affiliation to our brand,” Giordano’s spokesperson Jessica Harris said in an e-mail.

The brand isn’t running the page and didn’t approve its creation, Harris said.”..

Just for fun, I clicked the apply button on the post, and they are claiming they will be at 1012 Douglas Street.
Which is currently a parking lot next the Pinnacle Bank/"Omaha" mural building

I can't find the facebook chat I had with them over the years. Most times when I asked about Omaha they said they were working on the best location. Whatever.

I do like their pizza once every few decades. It doesn't suck. It's very filling and the older I get the less I am a fan of very filling.

And, the older I get the more cranky I get at those who are not honest with me. All they had to do was say "Thanks for all the votes Omahans but we really have no desire to open a store in your town." That would have done it. Just be honest.

It was a publicity stunt with an outcome they did not expect, that's for sure. And here we are, what, 3 years later still talking about it haha!

There are those who say any publicity is good publicity. I think this is one of those cases when that's not true.

I also checked Kansas City and St Louis neither have a Giordanos, the Twin Cities has two and Indy three.
According to a facebook post a few weeks ago it just opened in DM. There were a lot of Omaha comments on that thread.
Tried to eat there this last Sunday while driving through the area. We didn't really seek it out so much as take the West Des Moines exit, decide we wanted pizza, searched Yelp, and there it was. So, we pulled in at about 2:30 PM and walked inside. The place was (no exaggeration) 75% empty and we were told it would be a 40 minute wait to be seated because they only had two waitstaff. VERY few restaurants are worth me waiting more than maybe 10-15 minutes on a table and almost none are worth a 40 minute wait. We went elsewhere.

I was there the Saturday after July 4th. It was late dinner time, 7-ish and it was packed. I got a frozen pizza for my neighbor, otherwise I cannot comment on the food or service. It was a nice new building though.

Unfortunately with the staffing issues in the restaurant industry, the open table but still having to wait is happening more and more.

You might be able to put this back in the Dining forum.

Credible reports that Giordano’s will be building on a site down by the zoo. I even saw the address. 2921 S 13th Court. by the Jimmy John’s.

And I’m not talking about that Omaha Giordano’s Facebook page. I don’t care about that.

To me, that REALLY seems like a strange location for a place like this.

To be clear, I agree. The only thing I can think is they're hoping for tourists from downtown/zoo and I80 exposure? I don't know. I'm certainly not guaranteeing it-but it would be weird if it wasn't happening based on where I saw it and what I do for work. We'll see.

Des Moines location is slightly less weird out by the mall but also not amazing?

I would pick the DM location eight days a week over this location. There is NOTHING else to draw you to stop here other than interstate gas and a mid-range hotel.

Agreed..

And at this point, anticlimactic..

I honestly hope they never open an Omaha location. Don’t need ‘em…

I was at the one in West Des Moines today, it was very good. I think it would do well in Omaha. Hopefully at some point they will expand into the Omaha Market. I noticed KC doesn't have one either. Not sure how Des Moines got one so fast.

Like I wrote nearly a year ago, I honestly couldn’t care less if they landed a spot in Omaha. We don’t need ‘em anyway. The Omaha area has a tradition of fantastic local pizza places..

That said, I’m glad you enjoyed your meal there…

I disagree, Omaha could always use another Chicago Deep Dish pizza choice. Plus they had Italian Beef sandwiches. I will go back when in the Des Moines metro.

I checked and found Minneapolis has a couple Giordano's as well, but St Louis has none. Looks like they are expanding slowly.

Des Moines IA doesn’t have near the quality local pizza establishments and variety Omaha does..which is probably why they moved into Central Iowa in the first place..

Thank them? Give me a break. You like them, that’s great. But on principle alone, since they deceived Omaha with that vote back in 2017, they wouldn’t get a penny of my business..

Again, I don’t care whether they establish a location here or not. They won’t get my business anyway…

How soon I forget. Those two projects, to me at least, seem much more significant and worthy of a longer shelf life. But hey, it’s pizza, it’s essential.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 16th St location shutters too. Post Co-vid 16th St is an absolute ghost town. Just to name a few; T.J. Maxx, Uniqulo, Gap, Banana Republic, Rialto Cafe, Jason's Deli, Public School, Chili's and a number of good foods trucks have all closed. Even McDonald's pulled out as of NYE. Of course, crime, homelessness, drug use were an existing problem that the pandemic only exasperated. The derelict canal of feces and urine that 16th St has become now reeks beyond even what the most dedicated tourist should withstand.

Might be a case of Giordano’s over extending and under delivering..

I wouldn’t be surprised if more of their locations close…

Went to Pizza Davlo yesterday on Fort st for Chicago deep dish. It's pretty close to Giordano's in looks and taste. Plus it's a local business not a chain. I would recommend anyone in Omaha looking for a Chicago deep dish pizza to check this place out, worth it !

We went about 4-5 years ago, I need to go back but its on the exact opposite side of the metro from where I live. It was very good though.

I’m glad you finally went Cermak..

IMO it’s even better than Giordano’s- because it’s local :thumb: .. I bought a pie there a couple months back. Got 2 meals and a snack out of it. So filling…
