I wonder what his contract says about the remaining salary under contract. He's a high paid dude.

My 1620 feed dropped out (and is still not back up) and I so flipped over to a KFAB live steam and caught part of an interview with Sean Callahan. They painted Moose as an absentee athletic director. Had a couple assistants running the show and Davidson raising funds for the new football complex.

Bill Moos announces retirement as Nebraska's athletic director
Sam McKewon
LINCOLN — Bill Moos, who hired Scott Frost and Fred Hoiberg as Nebraska’s football and men’s basketball coaches, announced Friday that he will retire as the school’s athletic director after three and a half years in the position.
His retirement will be effective June 30, which marks the end of Nebraska's fiscal year.
"To understand just how special Nebraska is, you need to spend time here, meet our people, visit our cities and towns and sit in Memorial Stadium in a sea of red on a Saturday afternoon in the fall," Moos said in a press release. "I step away completely content, knowing that our athletic program is reborn and rebuilt and that it has a solid, stable foundation."

The article goes into what Brad said that Moos was an absentee director, not attending games, meetings, and spending a lot of time elsewhere during the pandemic. Seems like he may have been disinterested in the program to an extent.nebugeater wrote: Fri Jun 25, 2021 10:50 am Where is Paul Harvey when you need him? We need the rest of the story!

The important thing is the trash has been taken out. We do not know yet if the trash took itself out or it was taken out by someone else but I think we can safely assume that it was both. Nebraska football is about to embark on another hideous 3 or 4 win season that was going to most surely end with a fired AD and Head Coach.nebugeater wrote: Fri Jun 25, 2021 10:50 am Where is Paul Harvey when you need him? Matt Davidson will be the next AD and his first big job will be to fire Scott Frost in December. Now you know the rest of the story!

This is getting ugly, Frost is going to be under tremendous pressure to win this year. He has an experienced QB, this would be THE YEAR to try and eek out 6 wins.

Does he want to be the Governor of Washington? Senator? This half-arseing sure fits the bill of someone using this position as a stepping stone.ita wrote: Fri Jun 25, 2021 10:57 amThe article goes into what Brad said that Moos was an absentee director, not attending games, meetings, and spending a lot of time elsewhere during the pandemic. Re: Bill Moos Out
I’ve been pretty consistent saying he needs 7 wins..But the heat is definitely on Frost now more than ever. He *might* be able to sell the administration/fan base that a 6 win, bowl eligible regular season for 2021 is acceptable. And it likely will be. But if he does not deliver a 7+ winning regular season in 2022, then I think it’s fair to consider moving on..especially now that Moos has bailed- which, by the way, does not surprise me at all.. What a train wreckCermak wrote: Fri Jun 25, 2021 11:45 am This is getting ugly, Frost is going to be under tremendous pressure to win this year. Re: Bill Moos Out
The World Herald did an interview with Moos, some quotes about his "retirement". I hope whoever they get to replace him is excellent at their job, with the recent Supreme Court ruling, I don't think it's unreasonable to think that by the time the next AD is gone many athletes at Nebraska will be receiving direct compensation.
Moos told The World-Herald on Friday he’d been mulling over his eventual retirement for months, and wanted to address two portions of his contract with University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Ronnie Green. They had conversations over the last month about his buyout and $1.25 million in deferred compensation due to him in December 2022, the end of his contract.
Moos said he was informed last week that he’d retire almost immediately.
“Apparently this was the best time,” Moos said. He wouldn’t say who told him he’d be retiring.
Moos’ departure was abrupt enough that an ESPN interview he’d scheduled for Friday was canceled only on Thursday.

This just in........Tom the shill er I mean Tom Shatel thinks Matt Davidson is not ready to be an Athletic Director yet and Nebraska needs to go big and hire a woman Athletic Director
What an idiot! Shatel's stupidity is scary. What if someone in power behind the curtain actually listened to that moron and took his advice we could be in trouble.

Re: Bill Moos Out
Moos was a poor hire to begin with. At 67 years old or whatever, it's not like he was going to be a long-term solution. What exactly is the logic behind getting someone who, if they're not part of the long-term solution, isn't going to be overly engaged in the job.
Again - "isn't going to be overly engaged in the job" - which, from the reports that are coming out, is exactly what happened.

Re: Bill Moos Out
I’m sure he was a really good AD 10 or 15 years ago. But he was obviously just riding the storm out at Nebraska and cashing in financially. This was a short final stop for him and a very lucrative one it was. I give him credit for pulling this off. A quick four year stint then retire much richer. He was at best a so-so hire.
In my opinion he was to old to begin with and past his prime. Live and learn. This hurts Frost the most, the pressure to win is even greater now with a new AD coming in.

Re: Bill Moos Out
If you just wanted to insult me that is just fine but sticking up for that sorry excuse of a reporter is just inexcusable. I'm sorry but in the middle of the College World Series blowing up due to the Covid all we got out of Tom Shatel was a fluff piece for the Athletic Director that has been handing out contract extensions to a football coach who can't even win half the time. In his article he dissed Matt Davidson implying there is a woman out there who could do a better job. He is guilty as charged. Moos was a bum and Shatel is a bum and thats the way I see it!Big E wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 10:11 amWhy are you such a chode? Re: Bill Moos Out
Moos did his job, and did the big things just fine. Everybody wanted Frost (fans here as well as schools like Florida), and Moos delivered. He got an upgrade in the basketball coaching by getting Fred Hoiberg. Bolt has been an absolute smash success as baseball coach.
More importantly, he stabilized the program from the Eichorst debacle.
I suspect that NU's administration already knows who they are going to be hiring, and is ready to make that official next month. That's why they encouraged Moos to retire early. I imagine this search will take half as long as the search that led to Moos' hiring, in fact.

Sure we wanted Hoiburg but no he has not turned out to be an upgrade. Tim MIles for all his faults was 3 times the recruiter Hoiburg is. We are still waiting after 2 years for Hoiburg to recruit his first player that is really any good!

Re: Trev Alberts replacing Bill Moos
You actually could be partly correct. He is not going to literally kill the football team. He could however easily kill the national reputation of Nebraska Football if he were to pull Nebraska out of the BIG10 and cut and run to an inferior league. That is the biggest thing to fear. The hard core fans would buy into it but Nebraska's reputation as a Football school would be burnt to the ground. The question will be answered in December more then likely. After Scott Frost does not even win 6 games will Trev Alberts own it and fire Frost or will he try to save Frost and blame all of Nebraska's failures on being in the Big10?
