There seems to be a big push to get this development completed..at least the eyeball test tells me they’re moving along briskly and perhaps ahead of schedule..

And I really like the color look of that pic...

Ricketts mouthpieces complaining that the design of the building will prevent them from overcrowding it in the future. So predictable.

At 77 square feet each, the rooms in the new detention center will be smaller than the 90-square-foot rooms at the current facility. The new rooms will big enough for one person each, [Denny Macomber, director of the Jail Standards Division of the Nebraska Crime Commission] said.

“We recognize this is by design,” his letter said. “However, making the rooms smaller than ninety square feet means that these rooms can never be double bunked should the county want to expand their options for housing in the future.”

I walked by here the other day, and a quick count it looked like the 8th floor has started. So height wise, what we see now be it.

I wasn't really looking for this, but I found a decent pic of the tower from Kensington Tower (I pulled this from an apartment listing for a unit on the 7th floor):

Thanks for the pic , this is moving along nicely. while it doesn’t help much for height it does help with density. It closes up that part of downtown more and it’s another downtown corner that doesn’t have a surface parking lot present.

Also the space just south of the building will be occupied by a 4-story structure and then a block west of Flatiron as well once that development gets going with the apts.

That is a great vantage point for this project.

I agree, it shows that even though it's only 8 stories, it should enhance that area quite a bit. In a couple years, this view will be further densified by the Flatiron Clarity mixed use project. Really looking forward to see how these projects elevate the area.

I love this cluster of density here. It will only look and feel denser as the lots close to the flatiron fill in with that project.

Honestly, I’m not sure anymore (not that it matters much really).. Some here have argued the building will be 8 stories..I believed from the beginning it was 10..

At this point, we could split the difference and call it 9

…

All the official docs say 8 floors. Even then, with the frame built out, this it looking good in the area.

Excellent picture! Looks like 7 on the northside 8 floors on the southend. Still a big improvement over the parking lot that was there for decades.

This project just seems to be moving along swiftly..even ahead of schedule.. Once the project got the final okay, they were off and steel was in the ground..It’s good to see..

It's traditional to put an evergreen tree on top of topped out buildings to show that no one died during construction and as a talisman to bring good luck to the future occupants.

Ironworkers local 21 does this on most of the bigger buildings they erect. Everyone on site gets to sign the beam. Total class act.
